Alert Board Moderator about this Post!

Americans abuzz with anticipation ahead of President Barack Obama's first State of the Union address Wednesday can host their own beer summit and play along with the State of the Union drinking game.

Invented in 2002 by Marc Melzer and Howard Deutsch when they were final-year students at Princeton University, the basic rules of the game require players to down a shot or chug a beer when the president says certain words or phrases, or speaks the names of people or countries during the speech.

This year, "hope" and "change" both require a swig of something, as do mentions of Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran or Pakistan.

"Let me be clear" and "make no mistake" get a shot each, and if Obama references problems that his administration inherited, players drink a shot of something aged -- which is also the drinking requirement if the cameras show a shot of 92-year-old Senator Robert Byrd.

The game was initially inspired by Melzer's and Deutsch's desperate search for a way to get through an hour-long speech by former president George W. Bush, whose "speaking style is not one for the ages," Melzer said.

"But we had a lot of fun with the game when we were first coming up with it," Melzer recalled, thinking back whimsically to the shots he downed when Bush pronounced the word "nukular" -- a Bushism for "nuclear" -- or mentioned God or any euphemism for God (two drinks) in his annual speech.

This year, with the silver-tongued Obama in office, the motivation was different and Melzer and Deutsch had to wipe the slate clean and start anew.

Drinks are also required if the camera zooms in on someone listening to the speech in the House of Representatives on Capitol Hill.

A camera shot of First Lady Michelle Obama earns a jigger, and if the camera shows the first lady's well-cut arms, players take another step towards getting well-cut themselves, in both meanings of the word, because that shot has to be delivered using a bicep curl.

I'm sure it's being carefully, thoughtfully, and fairly crafted as we speak. Undoubtedly Mr Riffhard watched the President's SOTU speech with an open mind, and as soon as he receives his talking points from Glenn Beck he'll pop up with his response.

My Criswellian powers of prophesy predict it will follow this basic tenet: :

"HE SUCKS WITH TEETH, AND ANYONE THAT THINKS HE IS WORTH A FUCK IS A GODDAMNED MORON!"

Riffy wasn't yelling, when Bush spent...
it's what JC said, he's yelling at imaginary people...
Obama sounded just like dipshit Bush last night... Fake tax breaks, war talk, acting like we're switching from fossil fuels... the only good thing is he actually said something about human rights and is going to reverse the oppressive policy towards gays... the rest was typical political crap... he's just like Bush, except he gives better speeches and has mastered rproper English... so he's a little smarter... which is ironically not cool...

You want my take? Fine. It was worst SOTU speech ever! All the Marxist fuck did was blame the banks (that he voted to force to make toxic loans), the people of the USA, and by extension tax cuts for those people, corporations, the SCOTUS, and Bush! He's a joke.

He claimed the SCOTUS made a terrible mistake in partially overturning McCain/Feingold. He said the foreign companies can now unload millions into political campaigns. That is a lie! It's a flat out lie! The ruling did NOT change that aspect of campaign law at all! He thinks that American people are too stupid to know that. He went on to say, "In all deference to the division of powers and with respect to the Supreme Court...." And then he went out of his way to undercut those very division of powers and ridicule the Supreme Court! Some here are too stupid, or blinded by some insane allegiance to this assclown, to even take notice of this blatant lie! That ruling by the Roberts' court was brilliant!

Why is it that Barry, and his braindead drones, think it's fine to stifle free speech?! Just so we have this straight. According to Obummer, and all of his idiot supporters, it's fine when the media has free reign to campaign for their favorite candidate (ala MSNBC in 2008), but when a corporation that does not own a media conglomerate they should have zero say on what they can say or contribute to a specific campaign. So it's fine so long as the corporation owns a media outlet like, oh say GE. MSNBC and NBC get a free pass even though they are owned by GE. They carried this Marxist's water for the entire presidential campaign, and that's just fine with Barry, and his band of idiots. GE, consequently, got grants worth hundreds of millions from Barry, and his mindless drone supporters said nothing!!!!!!

However, when the corporation does not own a Barry friendly media outlet they must be shut down from political free speech! So "big media" gets a pass, but "big oil", "big pharma", "big bank", etc. does not get that same free pass? The SCOTUS realized that that ruling is a fundamental trampling of free speech rights, and they rightly over turned it!

You Obama drones are so damned clueless! "Oh Riffy never minded when Bush spent!" Uhhhh, BULLSHIT!!!! I said many times that Bush spent far too much money. I said that he wasn't nearly fiscally conservative enough! Barry has spent four times as much as Bush ever did though! And you guys find a way of justifying it?!?!?! How?! Why?!?!?!

Are really so dumb as to believe the only way to fix what Bush did was to spend four times as much?!?!?! You idiots really want to hand over the free market capitalist economy over to an ideologue like this bastard?! An ideologue that despises capitalism! Really?!?!?! Our free market system has made us the envy of the world economically, and now you dumbfucks want to undo all of that just because this leftist bastard says we should?!?!?! Are you guys really that stupid?!?! Really?!?!?! Wealth redistribution my ass! This is poverty redistribution! He is going to break this nation beyond any hope! That's his plan you fools! First he destroys it, and then he swoops in and claims that the only option is for more government control, and more free market regulation! I am stunned that so many here are too god damned stupid, or stubborn, to get it!! Take a look at how Hugo Chavez is using this exact same tactic in Venezuela. It's the Marxist blueprint for government takeover!! Wake up!

Why do you braindead drones think that Massachusetts just elected a Republican that specifically ran on a platform of reducing the size of government?!?!

I pray that the Democrats continue to push for health care reform (read-government takeover/ single payer)!! I really pray that the useless bitch Pelosi and that hapless soon-to-be ex-Senator Reid push for this! I really do! Hell, push for Cap and Trade while you're at it!! And push for immigration reform (read-immediate amnesty) as well! It's that exact policy that lost them a seat in the bluest of blue states!

This president (worst in the history of the USA) made the claim that "tax cuts" are, in part, what led to this fiscal crisis! Bullshit!!! Spending is what led to this catastrophe you moron!! Meanwhile he has more than quadrupled the federal deficit in one fucking year!!! So what does Obummer suggest? More taxes! He's going remove the Bush tax cuts "for the rich", and the idiot drones applaud him for it! Never mind that it will kill even more jobs in the process! He sucks. He either has zero knowledge of how the free market works, or worse, he does know it and he wants to kill it! I'll vote for the latter.

Oh, and JC, kiss my ass you little freak! You are a little pussy of the highest order. I know damn good and well who you are. Only your idiot sycophants think that you're intelligent. You're a moron! I'll stack my intellect against yours any fucking day of the week you little punk! You know nothing twat! As for my people skills. I have zero tolerance left for the likes of assholes like you! You'll get zero respect from me ever! I suggest you remain "across the street" from this point forward should there be anymore Stones' summits. You should be used to that.

In closing. The Democrats are getting crushed in the polls across the country, even in the blue states. Just like I said they would btw! I said a long time ago that Obummer would destroy the Democrats, and I was right! That must kill you drones! I am damned glad to proven right, but I'm equally proud of the fact that the likes of JC have been proven 100% wrong! Not that I am even a little bit surprised by this turn of events, mind you.

Riffy

PS- Oh, btw, the Narcissist in Chief said the word I 86 times last night! He said the words me/my over 80 times as well! It's all about him! Even when he says "This is not about me", he makes it about him!! LOL! Why? Because he's an arrogant ideologue who loves the sound of his own voice, and his ideology trumps everything even the will of the American people! Just take a look at the Marxist fuck's poll numbers! He's a joke, and so is anyone that still supports his un-American agenda!!

Firstly, I have never once watched Beck. Never. Not once. Can't stand the man myself. I'm more of a Mark Levin fan JC. I'd love to hear Levin utterly destroy your logic, or lack there of.

As for Lady Jane. I am absolutely convinced that if LJ had thought about the implications of General Electric (owner of NBC/MSNBC) getting a free pass to openly support a man via positive news coverage that has since been granted hundreds of millions of tax payer dollars that she may well rethink her position. It's a free speech issue plain and simple.

The fact is that what Barry is doing is playing the "populist" game of of trying to tar all major corporations as somehow corrupt and incapable of representing anything other than "corporate greed". Speaking of which. Isn't it funny how Barry is constantly slamming business? He wants to pit the American people against American business. Funny that, huh? He rails on about the big bad banks, the evils of big oil, or the greed of big insurance, he hates big anything. Save big unions, and big government of course!

He constantly talks a good game about helping "the working families" ,but his actions against business and his punitive taxes on corporations kill the economy, and stifle job growth. It's straight out of the Marxist handbook. Hugo Chavez does the same exact thing. So too did Castro. They pretend to represent "the people", but constantly undermine them by destroying the job market and then blaming the very free market that he so despises. Thus the government must come in and fix the problem of corporate greed. It's so god damned obvious to all who are willing to see. It may be the only transparent thing about this Marxist bastard! Too bad so many drones won't bother to notice.

Here's your assignment tonight JC. Google Cloward-Pivin. And no, this is not some Glen Beck argument. That lard ass is nothing more than a shameless self promoter. However, anyone that really wants to understand exactly what Barry's endgame is need look no further than Cloward-Piven.

HONOLULU — Republicans delight in depicting President Barack Obama as hopelessly out of touch with average Americans, but the decision by the Republican National Committee to hold its winter meeting at a tropical resort is turning the accusation on its head.

As the president gave his first State of the Union address Wednesday against the backdrop of the nation’s wheezing economy, the opposition party marked the event by convening a conference here — on an “island paradise.”

“Imagine lush tropical gardens, waterfalls, exotic wildlife and priceless artwork,” boasts the website of the Hilton Hawaiian Village Beach Resort & Spa. “This one-of-a-kind Honolulu Hawaii hotel resort is the only true resort property in Waikiki.”

Which is to say that it’s a long way from Baltimore, where the House GOP will have its retreat later this month in a pointed effort to demonstrate its sensitivity to the tough economic times.

Yet at a moment when millions are out of work and millions more struggling to get by, the party’s governing board will plot its comeback on the island of Oahu, sipping drinks poolside, catching rays on the beach that abuts the villa and raising questions about whether they’re as politically tone-deaf as they accuse the president of being.

The decision to meet here, where temperatures stayed steadily in the 70s all day Wednesday, is causing some prominent Republicans to cringe.

“Do I want voters to think that Republicans do nothing but go to beach resorts in January? No,” House Minority Whip Eric Cantor (R-Va.) told reporters last week.

For some in the party, the decision to convene in Hawaii represents just one more unnecessary headache inflicted on the GOP by Chairman Michael Steele — at a time when about everything else seems to be moving in the party’s direction.

Asked about the meeting location, one veteran party strategist expressed a mix of bemusement and annoyance by simply replying with a YouTube link to a Don Ho video.

Steele defended the decision to hold the party confab here, arguing that party officials were not just burying their feet in the sand and hunting for the best mai tai.

“We’re working hard out here; this is not a vacation. This is a working meeting,” he told a local TV station.

The party is tending to its regular business. State chairmen spent much of Wednesday morning reviewing the party’s strategy in winning governorships in Virginia and New Jersey last fall, as well as in last week’s special Senate election in Massachusetts. They also unanimously voted for a resolution rejecting a proposed “purity test” on GOP candidates.

But veteran Republican committee members note that the schedule for the week is light — a luau and a Pearl Harbor tour are planned — and many brought along spouses to enjoy the resort.

It’s also not an accident that, aside from Hawaii GOP Gov. Linda Lingle and other local officials, no actual elected Republicans are here for the meeting. Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, a potential 2012 presidential candidate, spoke at the party’s summer meeting last year in San Diego, and if this session had been held in Washington or another big city, there would likely be other White House hopefuls there to glad-hand the influential activists. But the last thing a mainland pol, especially those from cold weather or high-unemployment states, wants is images of him or her bedecked with a lei and schmoozing with party insiders.

Committee members here, most of them sans jacket and tie, acknowledged the criticism but said there was some symbolic value to having the session in America’s 50th state.

David Norcross, a longtime committee member from New Jersey, said he was initially concerned about the appearance.

“But we’ve never been here before, they’ve got a successful governor who used to be a party chair, and they have a contested governor’s race and special House race,” Norcross said, alluding to the race to succeed Lingle and the coming congressional contest brought about by the anticipated resignation of Rep. Neil Abercrombie, a Democrat who is running for governor.

Other committee members and party officials, however, indicated privately that it would have been less of a political hassle, as well as cheaper, to have just held the meeting in Washington and have saved the money being spent to fly and lodge staffers.

Because of the distance, some committee members didn’t even make the trip.

“I didn’t have a vote on this,” noted one GOP official.

“Would I have chosen Hawaii?” asked a committee member rhetorically. “Likely not, but we’re here and have business to take care of, and that’s what we’re doing.”

And, this member argued, “the optics are mitigated to some degree by the fact that our president just finished spending considerable time here himself.”

Officially, Democrats are withholding their fire, in part because Obama vacationed here over the holidays.

“We have no problem whatsoever with the RNC spending time in our 50th state and the birthplace of the president,” said Democratic National Committee spokesman Hari Sevugan.

But Democrats aren’t missing the opportunity to remind their counterparts that it was the GOP and Sen. John McCain’s presidential campaign that relished tweaking then-candidate Obama for coming here.

The RNC even devised a “Barack Obama Hawaii Travel Guide” for the occasion in an effort to portray him as out of touch.

And Sevugan couldn’t help urging Steele and company to visit the set of the TV show “Lost.”

“After all, with no new leadership, direction or ideas, their party is very much like a plane wreck, and they’re constantly dealing with the threat of a radical faction that keeps them further away from being saved,” he quipped.

Given the president’s falling poll numbers and Democrats' own internecine battles after the loss in Massachusetts, though, some senior Republicans argue that the decision to meet here pales by comparison.

“It’s dumb, but it’s a sidebar,” said longtime GOP consultant Mike Murphy. “I’ll take a dumb meeting in Hawaii over a disastrous health care plan and bad economic management anytime.”

Don't be surprised if the Dems are booked in there next month. They are all crooks and hypocrites.

Ah. So you'll go with "stupid"? Although, since she's your friend, you'll be more polite and say she's not paying enough
attention to the pundits you agree with?

Riffhard wrote on Jan 28th, 2010 at 4:52pm:
Here's your assignment tonight JC. Google Cloward-Pivin. And no, this is not some Glen Beck argument. That lard ass is nothing more than a shameless self promoter. However, anyone that really wants to understand exactly what Barry's endgame is need look no further than Cloward-Piven.

Riffy

This was all discussed almost three months ago (if you have the
time or inclination, please rewind this never-ending thread to
11/06/09).  Oh, that's right, you were pouting across the street
at that point.  I remember thinking "Wow! Why hasn't Mr. Riffhard
warned us about Cloward-Piven??? He spends all his time kvetching
about Saul Alinsky - howe could he have possibly missed these two?"

So here's  YOUR assignment, Mr. Riffhard - if you are indeed the
smartest anti-Obamanite in the whole world of Rolling Stones
message boards, please explain why is it that you are JUST
NOW mentioning Cloward and Piven? Is it because Mark Levin
is using that as a talking point right now? Because Glenn Beck
told us to "google Cloward and Piven. Right now." months ago.

Secondly, explain WHY you "hate" Glenn Beck, when you agree
with most everything he says, often word for word? Is it just
because he and Mark Levin had a falling out? As for his shameless
self-promotion, what exactly does he do that Mark Levin doesn't?
Seems like they're the same, only Beck is way more successful
at it. They both sell fear, half-truths, and outright lies, both write
books that sell like hotcakes to people like you,  both have radio
hate-speak shows. But Beck has his own TV show, whereas Levin
is just one of the kooky kast of karacters on Hannity's show.

...

As for your deep and abiding love of Mr. Levin, yes, it is
quite obvious that your "independent" thinking consists
of parroting Levin word-for-word, especially the word
"drone".

I have that same question for Riffy... If you claim to hate Glenn Beck, aren't you concerned that, a man you say you don't follow and "can't stand" has alot, not a little, of your identical points and the same beliefs...
You say you make your own opinions by reading and gathering information, to the point of being a braggart, and telling any who opposes you, they're stupid and uninformed. and that's putting it mildly, b/c you know, you're down right dickish about it at times... How come, all your rhetoric, is identical to the pundits? I'ts not really plagerism on a message board, but it is obvious, seeing what they are saying (levin) and what you're usually posting about are almost 100% identical... I've been put down for my typos and meandering of thoughts here... but at least it's mine.
"So in closing..." what kind of posting is that? You need to give speeches... haha!

He should have his own radio show!

Oh wait, he does...well, he should have a right-wing talk radio show instead of playing
Tool songs down the shore.

Does anyone listen to Mr Riffhard's show? Does he discuss "politics" on the air?

Tool? I doubt his station plays Tool...  I love that band... they play Nickelback and and shit like that, mixed with the same old "classic rock" stuff... He does talk politics with his co-workers... I have a feeling he's talking politics 24-7 to anyone he meets.

Yeah, I just wondered if he was allowed to talk his brand of "politics" on the air, or if his bosses keep a muzzle on him.
Also wonder if he could mention Obama's name without dropping a load of f-bombs.
