I've pointed it out many many times and will continue to do so...the people who put Obama into office DID "vote with their brains".  We didn't have a choice in the matter. Or, rather, we only had one.  Even Glenn Beck says that Obama was a better choice than McCain!

(CBS)  In an interview for the inaugural installment of @katiecouric, the new Web show hosted by Katie Couric, Glenn Beck said that he thinks "John McCain would have been worse for the country than Barack Obama."

Beck, the Fox News personality, radio host and author, also said that he may have voted for Hillary Clinton over McCain had Clinton been the Democratic nominee in 2008.

"I can’t believe I’m saying this, I think I would have much preferred her as president and may have voted for her against John McCain," Beck told Couric.

Prompted to elaborate by the CBS Evening News anchor and managing editor, Beck said he thinks "McCain is this weird progressive like Theodore Roosevelt was."

"I think John McCain would have been worse," he continued, laughing. "How about this? I think John McCain would have been worse for the country than Barack Obama. How’s that?"

*********

That may very well be the ONLY thing on which  I will EVER agree with Mr. Beck.  But the whole "Obama's supporters think he is the messiah/anyone who doesn't hate him is a drone" mantra is entirely an invention of the other side.

Do you actually think everything would be hunky-dory right now if McCain and (shudder) Palin were in office?

As for that whole "vote out the incumbents" thing - it would work better if we had more than two parties.

Simple. We can't afford it. Financially we're fucked, thanks to Demorcrats and Republicans alike..... (sub-prime fiasco, Freddie Mac, etc)   With the kind of numbers we'd be adding to the system, it'd be astronomical, as if the debt we have now isn't.

it never was... just realize, the republicans never wanted to win... McCain, and Palin... nope, they wanted to lose and now they want to make America it's own scapegoat... fuck them, and fuck the kool aid drinkers who think Obama is the cure and the cause of our problems... people need to accept personal responsibility. But seeing how Glenn Beck and his crying ass conspiracy in the closet thing is attracting millions of delusional people, I doubt that will happen...

There is a comic irony in LJ suggesting that anyone else, particularly Obama supporters, voted with their emotions rather than their brains.  Some of you will recall that LJ was a vocal Hillary supporter before Barack won the nomination.  She then switched, not to Barack, whose policy positions were virtually identical to Hillary's, but to McCain.  This is rather powerful proof that she was voting her emotions rather than her brains.  It's like this:  Either she supported Hillary on her policy positions (brains) or on "intangible" factors such as gender (emotion).  If she supported Hillary on policy (brains), the logical (brains) choice when Hillary lost would be Barack.  She chose McCain, which demonstrates that policy (brains) was not the deciding factor, at least at that point.  On the other hand, if she supported Hillary for some reason other than policy positions, such as gender or the fact that Hillary had to put up with Bill Clinton, then her decision was based on emotion, not brains, in the first place.

She also suggests that Barack's support was based solely on either hatred of George W. Bush or some irrational affection for Barack.  She seems to forget the economic crisis of 2008 and McCain's dithering response to it, not to mention the disastrous lack of good judgment demonstrated by the Palin pick.  Those were the main factors in making Barack's election the only logical (brains) choice.

Brainy

BTW, did the folks in New York's 23rd district vote with their brains, or was it just Repuglicans?

Actually, it was MY BRAIN that told me McCain had experience and qualifications where Barack had NONE. Therefore, HE was the only logical choice for me as abstaining is not in my character. Both VEEP choices were dolts.

I didn't have that take on Brainbell's post.

The two candidates (Clinton vs McCain) outlined completely different priorities for America's future.
Who cares which one is older or which one has held office longer. I want to know
where the candidate plans to take the nation, and those two had diametrically opposed positions.

There also has to be trust that the candidate is being honest when I listen to them.

Personally, I don't hate W.
I think he is an asshole to accept the nomination for a job he had no business taking.
And his speeches and policy decisions continually pissed me off. He was trying to make sounding stupid become fashionable.
But as a person, I didn't/don't hate him.

None would dare mention Nietzsche, as the only
one among us who has read all of his voluminous
works is across the street re-reading "The Gay

um...brainy? hello? mcfly? for someone as gall dang smart as you, i can't see how you could have missed the fact that hatred of bush was one of the main reasons for barry's election, bar none. had barry vs mccain taken place in 1988 instead of 2008, things would have gone the other way.

plus barry is good looking and michelle has nice teeth and biceps that could crush a beer can between them.
