You offer nothing to this debate Pdog because you know so little other than what you want to believe. I give you facts.

I'm sure you beleive you are the only one with the facts and truth... Hows that working out for you?

Riffhard wrote on Sep 21st, 2009 at 12:06pm:
The difference between you and I Pdog is that I, unlike you, read all the facts! All sides of the argument. Your side is losing the debate!

Riffy

This is delusional, b/c you truly think, and then beleive, you know what I read and do, and decide what I think... This is text book definition of that... I wish it stopped there with you, but your constant ranting and raving and ager shows that you're also paranoid!!!

Right on brother.

Some people don't understand that when they claim (with certitude) to know what others read or even "know", that it undermines their credibility.

his credibiltiy ended when he knew there wmd's, and anyone who disagreed was unamerican. he cited proff over and over, and then cited proof of them being found too... he stated fact with certitude and harshly lashed out at those who challenged, provided alternative information or just thought that the threats claimed about Iraq were overblown. Are we cohorting? Are you one of my cohorts? I wonder if he can tell the difference between us talking, and the voices in his head that say we are talking about him.

Let's continue.

Riffy said, in response to me...

"They don't offer any free market solutions!" Horseshit!!"

So he's making an assertation, I said this...? So he makes this statement, based on what he thinks or is just making up, I'm not really even sure. So, he's want ing to debate on something I didn't even bring up... Maybe Rigffy needs to realize, that free market is great for business, but we are talknig healthcare... Then again, he's so far gone with lies, that when he posts his facts, he wonders why we are laughing at him. His and others, real argumens isn't the Democrats plan or even that they can't fund it... no, the real argument they have, is some secret hidden agenda!!! Paranoid!!!
Let's recap.
Riffy argues points with others, that he creates himself.
He lashes out at theose who disagree with him.
He says he feels forced to defend himself. and that we are cohorts, engaged in some kind of group assault on him.
He makes claims that things are going to happen, that only he knows about, is warning us of, from sources only he has access too... and that we are all stupid b/c we don't agree with what he calls facts.
This is paranoid and delusional... Now he will say I called him crazy or something, but you can be these things, and still be a sane or somewhat normal preson, whatever that means.... He'll probably just freak out and call people more names and tell us more stuff about us, that we can't figure out on our own without his help.

LOL! The only one here that has been reacting with anger for these last three pages of the thread has been you Pdog. I offered you and olive branch, and an apology. What did I get in return?

Here are some facts for you.

Over 80% of Americans are happy with their health plan. Poor or rich, it matters not. Over 80% of Americans polled, consistently say that they are happy with their coverage. Is reform needed? Absolutely! Nobody in their right mind would think otherwise. Your side believes that the government should be the arbitrator of health coverage. Even though every single government run entity is either currently bankrupt, or will soon be bankrupt that does not change your position. You have bought into a big centralized government-hook, line, and sinker. And sink we will with that kind of wholly un American approach. And, yes, it is very un American to just hand the government a full one fifth of the US economy, and wipe out thousands of jobs in the process. It violates every single tenant that this nation was founded on. Would you care to argue that point, Pdog?

Nobody has a right to health care at the expense of someone else! We offer Medicaid for those that can't afford insurance. You know about Medicaid, right? It's a government run program that we ALL pay for. It is going broke! Obama wants to slash funding towards the Medicaid and Medicare programs by $600 billion per year!!! (And liberals wonder why seniors are lashing out at Obama's idiocy!! LOL!) Why does Obama want to cannibalize Medicaid and Medicare? So he can add an additional 50 million Americans to a government run program that even the CBO says will tank our economy for decades to come! Does that matter to you liberals? No! Screw our kids! Screw our grand-kids! It's the right thing to do after all! I mean liberals are so concerned about the "little guy", right? Unless, of course, that "little guy" doesn't yet have any voting rights and can be corralled into a government run program thus making them dependent on the good will of the government! The liberal/statist answer? More money! More government run programs! Trust the government, they'll get it right this time! If they don't? Well just tax the rich even more! Nuts!

As of two days ago a full %56 of the American public wanted no part of this stupidly titled "public option", so what does that tell you, Pdog?

It tells anyone with a rational mind that you have already lost the debate. It isn't going to happen.

While I may be the in the minority on this board full of far left liberals, in the real world you have already lost the argument. Sorry.

If you were sorry, you would stop calling people like me names... do you know what an apology is? It is a demonstration of not repeating the same thing you did... I made it clear, your olvie branch is a stick you hit people with. Maybe you should think about what you give, not what you get, you sound like someone who thinks saying sorry entitles them to something!!! Right afterwards, when you offered your so called apology, you talked about how justified you are... Do you really wonder why I thin kyour an asshole? I stopped being angry about your ways a long time ago, it's how I began to forgive you for your hurtful words... Now that I've been able to forgive you b/c it is clear to me, you do not know any better, I pity you.

Argue with you? Just tell me I'm stupid now, I'll avoid the typing...

I believe everyone has the right to access healthcare. Now that doesn't mean it is free to everyone, those are your words, and incredibly narrow minded. It's not true, you said it yourself, 80% already have it, and they abviously are paying for it...

56% are happy...  I'm happy with my healthcare too, i'm not happy with my coverage. My insurance can be so fucked it is insane.
I got a letter once, denying a test. I caled they said, we send those letters out automatically, but since you live in Texas, they are a state that the laws say you don't have to have a written referall, so you're ok. I asked what if I was still in California? They said the test wouldn't have been covered, so I would've been forced to pay, and owed the money... b/c the test was done already... how many people get fucked over daily or in some cases denied before the fact? Alot... So, I disagree with you 100%... All the unisured people of this country have the right to care and red tape hassles as I have!!!

There's your argument...
I'm so stupid, I'm such an idiot, some media made me make this decision, Obama is going to kill my Mommy!!!

Hey you pompous little prick, let me clear this up for you. Pdog did specifically make the claim that my side had offered up no "free market solutions", I rebutted that claim as "Horseshit!", which it is. I then made the point that Republicans have offered up at least four seperate plans all of which have been shot down by liberal Democrats for varying reason. They either gave too much money back to  the taxpayers or they tried to reduce the insane payouts to trial lawyers. The Democrats, always concerned with helping the "little guy" don't you know shot them down!

He made I point, I rebutted his point. No straw man there little fella. You really don't know what you're talking about, as Nanky points out, when you discuss straw men!

can you tell me what post that was... just quote it or tell me the post number...

The only reference to free market, is what you posted about NCPA and Brainy then said, that they offer nothing other than free market soltions... Can I quote you, and tell you to read the facts, which in this case, would be follow along to what you post and what some responds with, and not some reactionary crap... this sin't helping your credibility, which is already in the tank...

Sucks to be on the losing end of a lame assed liberal/statist argument, but there you have it. You're wrong. You believe the government is the end all be all of all things good and proper. The fact that history has proven over and over again ad naseum that you are flat wrong. Not only are you wrong, but you are horribly wrong. The data that I provided can not be argued by anyone that is intellectually honest as they are facts. You, and your cohorts, are never, and will never, be even close to intellectually honset. Never!

*The National Center for Policy Analysis (NCPA) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan public policy research organization, established in 1983. The NCPA's goal is to develop and promote private alternatives to government regulation and control, solving problems by relying on the strength of the competitive, entrepreneurial private sector. Topics include reforms in health care, taxes, Social Security, welfare, criminal justice, education and environmental regulation.

Do you know what a conservative think tank is? Do you know what a liberal think tanks is... They focus on conservative issues... you may be confused by semantics... you can be conservative, and call yourself non-partisan... Republican would be partisan, conservative it not a political party... I know words are sometimes interchangeable, but in this case they aren't. I'm not a democrat, you can say i'm a liberal, so by defintion, I'm able to be non-partisan in politics... keep up homey... You saying, and copying and pasting what they describe themselves is is not lie, I didn't say it was, I also clearly told you, that I beleive their facts, I just think they cherry picked a few. Now, how about you do some real, research, and not your conservative think tank copy and paste. How about you tell me how the USA compares to the top 10 countries who provide the best healthcare, universally... can you do that? I already know you can't and won't... it would require real research on intelectual thought... shut up, you're a liar!!! you just lied in your response to me, by bulding this fake argument.... your hostility is fucking boring too! do you have a real debate... or just going to tell me how bad Canada is regarding boobs?

The only hostility on display here lately is coming from you Pdog so spare me the lecture on board manners. Now as to the partisanship of the site that I linked. Well, as BJ pointed out, there is clearly some bias for the conservative position on the website that I cited. I will cop to that misrepresentation-unintentional though it was. However there is no link between the NCPA and the RNC. So I should have just noted that the site was non-partisan. You're attack of the site though is a very clever way of ignoring the facts that are sourced in my post. The facts are indisputable, and irrefutable regardless of where they come from. They are based on actual numbers in the real world. I guess that you consider a boob job in Canada to be equivalent to the cancer survival rate of the Western world, but most fair minded non-partisan types see a huge difference. How else do you explain independants and moderates fleeing from the Obama health care position? Obama, and the Democrats, are now in a position to take over a full one fifth of the economy, and people like you just cheer them on without even looking at facts, evidence, and current data that prove beyond any doubt just how damaging that will be to our way of life and our individual unalienable rights. You don't care! Your statist agenda is perfectly clear. If you have to you will attack the messenger of dissent.

"Trust in Obama! All must trust in Obama!!! Oh, and by the way, I'm not a member of any political party so I'm non partisan! Just shut the hell up and hand over 20% of the entire US economy and free market to the same band of idiots that busted Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and every other institution that the people were gullible enough to trust them with! Hello Fannie and Freddie! We must do it now!! If you don't trust Obama that only proves that you are a racist!!!"

I present you with facts, and you present that kind of asinine rebuttal.

I see how you got that now, but you might not have gotten the sarcasm, that was based on your use of data ect from the conservative think tank...
I didn't in my sarcasm, say Conservatives and by ext. Republicans do not seek anything, especially free market soltions. It's the opposite, isn't it... Health Ins. is free market, and the Obama plan is an alternative... I'll concede this, I can't even begin to discuss the many apects of free market capitlism, we're not talking anything simple by any stretch, and even the experts, are not really experts!

Very sad. So are they trying to say that since SOME people can't properly explain the evolution theory, that the "other" explanation of the origin of human life is correct by default? If evolution is false, then creation wins by default? WEAK.

Although it is acknowledged that there are gaps in evolution theory, the Bible has so many known falsehoods that one wonders why these same inquiring minds don't question these supernatural creation claims.

ALL religion uses meditation, because that's what prayer is. That's all it is. When people recite the same things over and over, it is a way to clear the mind of random thought. Random thought is what we do all day long, from the minute we rise until we go to sleep. It's normal to do this. Meditation allows the mind to stop this brain activity. This has the effect of resting the brain, and gives the person a feeling of calm. EVERY religion uses this. This is why ALL religions take people to the same spiritual place. This is why all prayers achieve this level of calm. It doesn't matter which religion one uses, it's the meditation that fools them into thinking their God is listening. Which is a pretty outrageous belief, that God hears all of these simultaneous murmurs.

This is also why many Deadheads get to this same state. Although they don't pray, they focus on the music that they know by heart, and this stops the random thought brain process, and keeps their mind focused on simpler thought patterns. Which rests the brain and gives a feeling of peace.

I agree 100%, I meditate daily, many time throughout the day, at various lengths and times...

What blows me away, is that monotheists are also be defintion athiests, if the God they beleive in, is the only true god one god. They must denounce and refute other gods. This is the mindset, that from the get go, with alot of religions destroys all good they can achieve. If the basis is to make yourself look good, by making others look bad or prove they are wrong, what's the point? what spiritual principle is that? It's exactly what I see our fellow Riffy doing, his goal is to make you lok bad, tell you you're wrong b/c you disagree and then he says he is better  because he is right... It's the same mindset. I do not, think this is only relative to him, I beleive as humans we all do it... but if it is how we decide to practive a concept of faith... IMO, the agnostic has mre chances of living a psiritual life based on science, since they know, if they flick a switch on, the light goes on. They do not need to tell you how electricity wrks, they just have faith it will, and trust.... the people who need to prove or disprove this theory, they deny themselves the power!!! figurativley and literally...

Exactly. This is why the root effect of prayer is being dissected, so that we can understand this effect and how it can lead to human happiness.

Nobody explains this better than Sam Harris:

This is about 20 minutes of reasoning brilliance.

Some of the best graffiti that I ever saw was on the wall of a men's room at a bar in Athens, Ga. It read simply,-"God is dead!-Nietzsche" underneath that line was written in bolder font,-"Nietzsche is dead!-God". Moral of the story? Nobody knows a damned thing about the who, what, why, or when of God.

That some of you try so desperately to tear down what you don't believe in is pretty strange. Nobody is trying to force God onto you, except of course radical Islamists. Christians make up roughly 85% of the US population, yet some seem to think that it's perfectly fine to ridicule them for their own individual beliefs. The Christian values that the vast majority of these church going people follow are a good thing! They are a good thing for the believers of the faith, and they are a good thing for the communities where they live. Some liberals seem to think that we'd all be better off if we just rejected, what they perceive to be, an outdated unsophisticated way of thinking. That is a ridiculous and shallow way of thinking if you ask me. We know that people that attend church on a regular basis tend to donate more to charity. That is a fact. They also tend to volunteer in their communities more. That too is a fact. In fact Christian charities are the largest charity on the face of the earth. Why then do some atheist seem so intent on ridiculing Christians? What purpose does it serve? Personally I believe that religion is a private matter between the believer and their God. If someone wants to practice their faith then who am I to bitch and moan about it? Unless, of course, their brand of religion is one which they feel gives them the moral authority to kill those who don't share their same beliefs. Christians don't behave in such a way, but some atheists still feel that they have a right to not only rail against Christians, but to ridicule them for their own personal relationship with God as well.

Some don't believe in God? Fine. Who cares? Why should I go out of my way to sweat what these people think anyway? So why then are these non believers so intent on turning the entire society into a secular one that only believes in non belief?

Funman you're pretty funny. You accuse Christians of trying to force their belief system on to you, but what exactly are you trying to do? I would wager that of the 80 plus percent of Americans who consider themselves Christians, the vast majority (95 plus percent) of those are happy to keep matters of faith a private one. Most Christians belief in God, and Jesus Christ is one which brings them comfort and guidance. Why are you so intent on trying to tear that down? I think it makes you look small and petty.

I won't follow up with any responses to this post because the last thing I want to do on a heated political debate is to introduce religion into the fray (why some here would want to is beyond me!), but I'll close with this-The hypocrisy on display from some of you atheists is hilarious. You claim that backwards thinking Bible thumping Christians are trying to force their beliefs onto you?! Really? The only ones trying to insist that their own beliefs are true are the same atheists bitching and moaning about Christians. You have become what you claim to hate.

Do you think that religion isn't involved in politics?
You must not be impressed by the statistics of religious policies versus secular policies.

You have a lot of relevant questions, but it doesn't appear that you have searched out any answers.
Thus, I am a drone and you are a self described informed opinion on such matters.

Hmm funman, my point was pretty clear, I think. My answers, and personal beliefs, on matters of faith are of zero consequences to you. Your attitude about Christians is pure unadulterated bigotry. Plain and simple. You're being a bigot! You try and credit a video which is representative of perhaps one one hundredth of one percent of all Christians, and you call it proof of some strange atheist theory. You full of it. You're just a bigot. I'll pray for you.

I always liked the last line of that graffiti:  "Some men are born posthumously."--Nietzsche
That, of course, is an actual Nietzsche quote, and finishes the dialogue quite handily. It is unfortunate that so many know the "God is dead" quote, yet so few have bothered to read Thus Spoke Zarathustra or any of Nietzsche's other works.

500 years ago people were burned alive for allegations of thought crimes against the church.
Can it be said of those times, that they shouldn't care what others beliefs were? Zero consequences?

You didn't watch the video, which is what I expected.
Sam Harris isn't a Christian, and his comments are regarding all religions, not just Christianity.
It isn't my proof of "some strange atheist theory", it's a discussion on why THE BOOKS ARE THE PROBLEM with religion.
Not that people are seeking comfort and peace of mind through spirituality.

Well thank you for that predictably smug elitist comeback BJ! While that may well have been the actual Nietzsche quote, he put the dialogue into the mouth and mind of an insane man. That is rather telling. Yes, BJ, I have read all of Nietzche's work too! For that reason I have no doubt that Nietzche was just as smug and snobbish as, oh say this guy---> ...
