Just another thought on this health care debate which hasn't been really discussed. That is this. Notice how the leftists, socialists, stateists, Marxists always frame the debate in terms of "us against the insurance companies". The implication couldn't be more clear, or more wrong headed. Even some on this very thread have made snarky remarks along the lines of "Right wing wackos are now defending big insurance programs!" It's really pretty damned pathetic.
The truth is that these same leftists see absolutly nothing wrong with big government, but they must tear down their perceived villian aka big insurance, big oil, big pharma, big banks, the auto industry, the coal business, big business in general. We have to have an enemy afterall! This tactic is straight out of Rules For Radicals-" Identify the enemy. Freeze it, and destroy it" Is that not exactly what Obama, and his cabal of leftists are doing?
The real argument from those of us on the right is the rights of the individual vs big government. I mean the blatant hypocricy of these leftists is astounding! Remeber these are the same exact people that always scream about a woman's right to abortion. They rail vehemently, "The government has no business in deciding what a woman wants to do with her own body! Every woman should have the right to choose! blah, blah, blah...." and on and on. So how is that that these same people are now completely ready to hand over their medical records and all of their health care choices to a big federal government agency?! Remember lefties, you won't be in power forever. In fact I'd wager that you won't be in power for more than a couple of years with the current rate of anger that you are creating. At that point it will be the rightwing that would have total say on what happens to you, medically speaking, should Barry get his wish. So you see, the truth is that a vote against this boondogle is really a vote for your rights too. I don't want the right or the left making those choices for me. I'll keep what I've got, and thank the government to keep their hands off, and out, of my medical history!
However, if you leftists want to continue to twist the debate into a framework that you feel suits your position better fine, but be ready for when a conservative gets elected and then declares abortions illegal henceforth. Sound good to you? Didn't think so. So why in the world would support, or even contemplate, the federal government in handling your health choices now? Are you folks really that shortsighted?

you keep arguing something that doesn't exist, and that is an elimination of prvt. ins. and people being forced into a govt. run system.
The rest of what you're stating is def. where me and you differ. I'm not against big biz, I'm against biz unregulated and operating special interests groups and lobbys that directly influence legislation and give them an unfair advantage and the abiltiy to screw over the citizens of the USA... that's not commie or socialist... I'm anti-fascist.
Where I do agree with, at least on point, is that having private industry bear the blame is wrong. If in the theory a company was regulated and providing what the consumer is paying for, this debate regarding how they operate ends for me. I want healthcare for everyone b/c I don't want sick people bankrupting the hopsitals and already existing social system. As we stand that's what is happening, b/c untreated illness and people using ER's for first care are killing us already. The way things are going, private ins. is forced to raise premiums, cut benefits and it is b/c hopsitals are not getting paid for ER visits or the people showing up are draining the services. What is being proposed actaully can eliminate some of the cost and burden on both hospitals and insurance companies. That is a real part of the legislation, not this made up stuff you claim is going to force insurance companies to close shop.
