Now, I still think it'd be great to harness the wind & the sun as much as possible but we have to watch the cost.

Bottom line is that the US, as well as the rest of world, is still an oil driven economy and society. All of these feel good Eco plans won't change that. And Barry's penalizing the oil industry and the consumers of fossil fuel (read-every single person alive) will not change that fact, but he could very well, and will, do great damage to our way of life. Such is the cost of redistributing wealth.

I have left less of a footprint than people who claim to care about the environment. How I can sell some carbon credits? I am going to start burning my garbage unless someone coughs up some cash.

I can understand what you're trying to express here ijwthstd.

I have a friend in San Fran that I believe to have the lowest carbon footprint of any individual in the state. It's truly amazing, his operation. It's not because he cares so much about the issue, but rather because he's strapped for money.

This article from the WSJ puts a pretty fine point on the whole sham that is cap and trade. By trying to sell a gullible American public into believing that this will save the planet from irreparable harm Democrats are trying to levy the largest tax in US history, but hey, don't take my word for it, just read the article.

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB124588837560750781.html

Oh, and funman. I know that you have a hard time following the logic of Dems deliberatly wanting to raise the cost of fuel, so I have decided to lift this quote directly from the above article just in case you refuse to read the entire article.

Here---> "The whole point of cap and trade is to hike the price of electricity and gas so that Americans will use less. These higher prices will show up not just in electricity bills or at the gas station but in every manufactured good, from food to cars."

Well, you're correct in the assumption that I wouldn't read the entire article.

I disagree that the Dems want the price of energy to increase so that they can somehow gather more political power or tax revenue.

I side with the concept that when industry is faced with more expensive energy costs, finally we will see innovation regarding decreasing the pollution associated with electricity generation (and other industries), and it will be the free market that makes it happen.

All of the opposition is again, large companies not wanting to lose one cent of their profit (and anybody they can sway).

My bottom line on this is that I'm for whatever lessens the pollution. That's where my vote will be cast. The squandering of the Earth's resources for the profit for a few has to stop, IMO. All of this should have started in the '70's. We knew, but didn't properly address it back then.

I have read that those in the alternative energy field have deep ties to Obamadrones. Ergo those who have interest in gaining money will give money to gain more money. Lobbyists don't just work for "corporate" America.

Sure, of course. I agree that there are progressive lobbyist's trying to influence the outcome.

Again, even if they're in it ONLY for the profit, it is the direction I want to see things go.

We need to clean things up, rather than rape the land for quick profit, IMO.

I don't "sidestep" anything, you asshole. DON'T CALL ME A RACIST! You got that?

Forget your racist slurs against the president. What's the deal with your vile hatred of Michelle Obama's body? What's THAT all about? The newly emerging moose wing of your political affliliation wants to know!

OK, so you admit that calling me a racist was just a game? You really are something else. Please stop the games. If you want to discuss politics, fine. All I see you doing is assigning certain posters to various wings of the GOP. Or else decrying someone's linking of articles. You really never have attempted to defend Obalama other than saying he has high approval rates. 4th rate might cut it at GasX but we have a slightly higher standard here.

That is not what I was saying. Progressive pols are echoing what I have read, watched, and witnessed.

I'm for whatever it takes to begin a new direction.

By the way, here's a wacky librul comment for ya.

The reason we stay on oil, putting aside the easy profits, is because if we don't burn MORE than our fair share, other nations would have access to that energy and we can't allow their economies to out grow ours.

Hey funman I'm not trying to personally insult you, but I've got to be honest I have never seen such blatant disregard for the scientific data that proves unequivically that Co2 is inconsequential with regards to our climate! Yet you're ready to destroy the economy in the name of a sham! If you would prove to me that you know the whole story, fine. Make your case. In the meantime here's the words of Office of Management and Budget to the EPA that show just how devastating this bill would be to our way of life. Will you read it? Probably not. It's a non-partisan report that destroys the notion of this bill being a "jobs creator", which is what Barry had the gall to claim today!

Here, read this, and then make your case!

http://epw.senate.gov/public/index.cfm?FuseAction=Minority.Blogs&ContentRecord_i...

Saul Alinsky said years ago in Rules For Radicals, and I paraophrase here,-"When you can rally the poulace on a topic as simple as pollution you can effect change of an entire society."

That is what is going on here funman! This admnistration is trying to reorganize our entire society, and you just happily go along with it.

Read the article! Learn!
