Motes, only YOU could come up with that theory

SS perhaps you should really read up on this "cap and trade/tax and kill" bill that Pelosi is forcing to a vote on Friday. Yes, TTM is right! The Dems (or the liberal Democrats anyway) certainly do want the price of gas to go up! That is their absolute agenda and if you will take the time to read up on this subject you would understand why. Needless to say it's all a part of the huge powergrab that is the "climate cahnge" hoax.

Read this and then tell me that Democrats aren't trying to raise the cost of gas! But it's not just gasoline. It's also electricity, natural gas, and coal based enegy output-which is, by the way, responsible for over 50% of all electrical output in the country.

The Democrats, led by Waxman, Pelosi, Reid, and Obama want the cost of all energy to go up! That is a demonstrable fact. It's a typical liberal powergrab.

Climate change is not a hoax. Not one sane scientist thinks it's a hoax.

The ONLY reason there is a fight about climate change, THE ONLY REASON, is that some major corporations will lose profit.

Meanwhile, the next generation is going to pay a much bigger price than increased tax.

We might all be gone by the time disease runs amok, food becomes scarce, and water starts going for $150 a barrel.

I'm still trying to figure out why some people believe that this president has lowered 95% of all Americans taxes. That is a blatant lie that is also demonstrable. Now should this bill get passed you can bank on taxes going up, as well as cost going up, for over 90% of the entire US economy! That will directly effect every Americans wealth in a big big way! That's what wealth redistribution is all about after all. We give it to Obama and he determines who gets it from there. (Hello every left wing group in existence! ACORN,etc.) And some people are stupid enough to feel good about it. Stunning.

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0609/24193.html

And hell these same people think that we should now hand over our health care, and the massive costs that that will incur, to these same ideologically driven politicians. Boy good ol' Barry gots a lotta peeps smiling as they take more and more bites outta his shit sandwich!

No thanks. Barry sucks.

Please explain to me how Co2 is a harmful green house gas. Please cite the science that proves this conclusion. I can give you link after link that uses actual real science. You have bought into one of the largest hoaxes ever perpetrated upon civilization. You buy into a faulty premise! Of course there is climate change! There is always climate change! However, some how you have bought into the "human causation" factor. That is a crap argument that has been dismissed by far more climatologists than not. In fact 3,700 hundred well respected climatologists concluded that very fact in a paper delivered to the UN last year! You dismiss these the thousands of respected scientists that refute the hoax, while at the same time you fully embrace and believe the hundreds that claim that the hoax is true! These same scientists that get million upon million in federal research grants! And you have the nerve to say that I have been duped by some evil corporations?! Why do you liberals hate business so much?

I mean if you really hate big business then you should despise the pope of the church of "Global Warming,...errrr....huh....Climate Change" Al "The planet has a fever!" Gore. This guy has banked over $150,000,000. He has a huge stake in the largest "carbon credit" company in the country! He stands to make hundreds of millions should this shit get passed into law! And you only question corporations agenda. You have been completely programed into handing over more and more of your liberty and individual rights. I haven't.

Ever wonder why the argument changes when the facts no longer fit the original argument? Of course not. Ever wonder why global warming zealots have totally ignored Nasa's solar activity research papers released recently? Of course not. Never question! Never doubt! This government only wants what's best for us. Thus you are an Obamadrone.

And now you're ready to trust them with your family's, and my family's, health care. No thank you.

Manmade Climate-Change Hoax
by James L. Clark

President Obama and the Congress – or at least most of it – have been breast-beating about the terrible effects that mankind has wrought and continues to wreak upon the climate, their claims asserting the inundation relatively soon of many land areas by the oceans, not to mention the increase in temperatures, called global warming, a buzz-term used by the alarmists. One result of this climate-fear-mongering, naturally, has been the carbon-cap legislation, complete with stiff penalties for concerns that allegedly infuse the atmosphere with too much greenhouse gas, meaning consequent higher taxes and prices for everything as the losses are recouped.

Former vice president Al Gore has made an industry out of this matter, producing a film, An Inconvenient Truth, writing a book of the same name, and traveling everywhere to push his project, namely, forcing people/industries to cut their greenhouse emissions, mostly CO2. For this, he won a Nobel Prize, even though he's not a scientist, climatologist, or anything else having to do with an academic or practical study of climate phenomena. Indeed, his film may not be shown in England's public schools unless the teacher points out its nine (or eleven, depending on the take) outright lies and designates it as political rather than scientific.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, a United Nations adjunct, puts out reports periodically, the last one in 2007 amounting to a virtual earth-murder by especially the industrial nations, with the United States being the worst culprit, notwithstanding that China is the worst offender, with India not far behind. It should be noted that only 20% of the members of the IPCC gang actually are scientists. Gradually, credible American scientists such as Dr. John Christy of the Univ. of Alabama, Huntsville, are setting the record straight. Another is Australian Bob Carter, an adjunct research fellow at James Cook University, Townsville, who studies ancient climate change. This is part of an article by him in The Australian of 19 December 2008:

"THE Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change model of dangerous, human-caused climate change has failed. Independent science relevant to supposed human-caused global warming is clear, and can be summarised in four brief points.

First, global temperature warmed slightly in the late 20th century and has been cooling since 2002. Neither the warming nor the cooling were of unusual rate or magnitude.

Second, humans have an effect on local climate but, despite the expenditure of more than $US50 billion ($70 billion) looking for it since 1990, no globally summed human effect has ever been measured. Therefore, any human signal must lie buried in the variability of the natural climate system.

Third, we live on a dynamic planet; change occurs in Earth's geosphere, biosphere, atmosphere and oceans all the time and all over the world. No substantive evidence exists that modern rates of global environmental change (ice volume; sea level) lie outside historic natural bounds.

Last, cutting carbon dioxide emissions, be it in Australia or worldwide, will likely result in no measurable change in future climate, because extra increments of atmospheric CO2 cause diminishing warming for each unit of increase; at most, a few tenths of a degree of extra warming would result from a completion of doubling of CO2 since pre-industrial times."

In other words, manmade global warming is a crock. Indeed, it appears that there was slightly more sea ice in January 2009 than in January 1980, though the amount increased in the southern hemisphere while decreasing in the northern hemisphere. In one of the Ice Ages (the third?), according to the scientists, the Ohio River was carved out as a humongous glacier did its deed and retreated northward from Kentucky back toward the North Pole, from whence it came. As far as anyone knows, this was millennia before any industrial activity and thus only a climate change as only an act of nature and little more. Indeed, Kentuckians and everyone north of the state might meditate upon this and consider a bit of warming as quite good.

Interestingly, while it demands all sorts of drastic/expensive changes/sacrifices from the United States, the Kyoto Treaty demands absolutely nothing on the parts of China, the worst polluter, and India. The combined populations of these two countries, 2.5 billion, represent 37% of the world's population, while that of the United States comprises less than five percent. Federal statutes require billions of dollars worth of "scrubbers" in this country, already adding to the cost of everything from toothpaste to autos, while the Chinese and the Indian governments require virtually nothing, thus gaining advantage in the world market, especially exporting far more to the U.S. that it imports, in the case of China.

The time is long overdue for members of Congress (assuming they aren't all dolts) to tell the president that the manmade-global-warming hoax is just that, and that easing the restrictions on industry is in order, along with a cessation of the fear-mongering about the oceans usurping New York and Los Angeles. Finding alternative sources of energy is important not because of this imagined manmade warming, but because fossil fuels will someday disappear, and, as they do, the cost of them will skyrocket.

I don't think so. "Flat out wrong" is a bit over the top.

The argument is whether or not human activity is the cause.

Do you remember when many doctors stated that nicotine is not addictive?
Tobacco company CEO's said the same thing?
Smoking doesn't cause cancer?
Those that said it did all of the above were labeled leftists, freaks, liars, opportunists.

One can always find someone to represent an opposing argument to any issue.

Okay fuman - I will give you that.

I think most scientists agree that there have been changes in the mean temperature over time.

But I was addressing the issue of whether (1) the climate change is man-made, natural or a combination and (2) whether the policies of controlling emissions will have any significant effect on the climate.

those two issues are far from resolved, and there are plenty of scientists who have refuted the "science" relied upon by Al Gore (what science degree does he hold?) or the UN's island of misfit toys.

most of the global warming is caused by you liberals farting around!!!

ABC's White House special struggled for viewers
President Obama's town hall meeting on health care delivered a sickly rating Wednesday evening.

The one-hour ABC News special "Primetime: Questions for the President: Prescription for America" (4.7 million viewers, 1.1 preliminary adults 18-49 rating) had the fewest viewers in the 10 p.m. hour. The special tied some 8 p.m. comedy repeats as the lowest-rated program on a major broadcast network.

You don't agree with that logic because you don't agree with logic period.

If the cap and trade bill will have a negligible effect on the climate as all scientific graphs, charts, and research papers point out, and the cost of all energy will go up as a direct and predictable result of this bill as the CBO points out, then what other conclusion can be reached?

They want the bill passed not because of any ridiculous claims about protecting the planet, but because it gives the federal government more control and power over the individual, and more importantly, over the individual's wallet! It also grants the government more control of industry. Yet you, who refuse to even acknowledge the true science, would rather take the word of a bunch of politicians who have been socializing the economy since day one of Barry's presidency. Why not study the other point of veiw? Are you really that much of an ideologue? Do you worship at the alter of The Church of Climate? You dare not question the hundreds of millions of dollars, nay billions, at stake for the left on this subject lest it burst your liberal bubble?

When I was in Spain, I saw tons of wind turbines & solar panels covering whatever terrain wasn't covered by olive trees or sunflower farms. It really was quite a sight. I thought it'd be nice if we could do that. But then I read today that the program hasn't helped Spain & jobs in Spain decreased despite a promised increase in employment because of green energy. Now, I still think it'd be great to harness the wind & the sun as much as possible but we have to watch the cost.

Bottom line is that the US, as well as the rest of world, is still an oil driven economy and society. All of these feel good Eco plans won't change that. And Barry's penalizing the oil industry and the consumers of fossil fuel (read-every single person alive) will not change that fact, but he could very well, and will, do great damage to our way of life. Such is the cost of redistributing wealth.

What an inspiring statement.  Roll Eyes  Roll Eyes

I will use that the next time I encounter a Pediatric Oncology patient whose Parent is trying desperately to hide their tears.

I have left less of a footprint than people who claim to care about the environment. How I can sell some carbon credits? I am going to start burning my garbage unless someone coughs up some cash.
