Well, that is the claim - that embryonic cells have certain improved properties over adult stem cells.

Whether that is true and more importantly, whether those differences will lead to anything, remain to be seen.

I don't claim to be an expert on stem cells - apparently you do because your wife slept at a Holiday Inn express once.  But from what I do know, there is still scientific controversy as to whether or not embryonic cells are truly any better than adult stem cells in forming any specific type of cell.

And your "why not try" argument presupposes that we have not already tried.
But we have.
Federal funding was not available in this country for embryonic stem cell research.
But is has been in other countries for years, and if privately funded, biotech companies are certainly not prevented from such research.  So all of this research has been going on for years, on all types of stem cells to create "cures" for all sorts of diseases.  And what do we have so far to show for it? 

Nuclear technology looked promising as a clean energy alternative.
Wonder what the folks in Hiroshima think about it...
