Well North Korea already has nukes.
The only thing they need is a long-range delivery system and they are close to that as well as evidenced by last week's launch.
Although it reportedly never reached orbit, who knows whether that is true.
And even if it did not, who knows why!
What is clear is that they are still in the business of testing and now they want to start their nuke program again.
Whether they would use them is, for me, not even a question.
Iran in particular has announced its desire to wipe Israel off the Earth and the theocracy in charge is run by a number of hard-cores that are looking to usher in the 12th Imam.
And there is nothing stopping them from passing a nuke onto a terrorist group that Iran backs such as Hezzbolah. How do you respond to that?
I agree that North Korea is not likely to start something themselves.
But I have little doubt that if they could pass a nuke on to someone, they would.
And, in an age where you don't always know who your enemies are and what they really have, I would prefer to hope for the best, but certainly plan for the worst. Most people in this country did not think a bunch of Islamic fanatics would hijack a handful of our planes and slam them into the World Trade Center on 9/10/01!!
And those that did see it coming had a pretty good tip -- the terrorists themselves had provided plans for using aircraft as weapons back when the WTC waqs first bombed by Yousef. Pakistan, a nuclear power that has already passed nuke tech around, is on the brink of an overthrow.
I take a nuclear threat very seriously and in my mind, those who think some of these whackos one won't do something catastrophic are borderline delusional.
"passing a nuke onto a terrorist group that Iran backs such as Hezzbolah. How do you respond to that?"
Yeah, that's a big worry, true. Or even if they just hand over fissile material. Still, I really don't think that a detonation would happen. Good thing our government doesn't rely on my opinions, huh? Hey, Obama is with you on this issue.
Thing is, we're not going to stop them with force. We would need to eliminate them entirely. I don't know what the answer is. (this is probably obvious to you)
