I have no problem casting judgement on this ridiculously dangerous presidency. This presidency will go down as the worst ever. Our debt is going to be insane because of this asshole's ideology. He dosn't care if he wrecks the economy though. That's the 800 pound gorilla that nobody, save some on talk radio, seems to talking about. He wants to devastate the economy so he can take control of the free market. Anyone that can't see that has partisan blinders on! M_M I'd have thoughtthat you were pragmatic enough to see through Obama's attack on capitalism. He is gathering an inordinate amount of power for the federal government, and every single American should be vey wary of that. When the federal government gains power you loose liberty! All the Founders knew this and warned of it! For proof just se the tagline by Jefferson in my sig. Yet many just ignore these warnings. Why?

"President Barack Obama's budget would produce $9.3 trillion in deficits over the next decade,
more than four times the deficits of Republican George W. Bush's presidency
, congressional auditors said Friday."

So says the CBO. When Bush was in office the CBO's word was godlike, and they were dead on right every time! Now Democrats, Obama, and gullible Obamadrones just willingly ignore any and all warnings from the CBO. You drones can continue to pretend like the man/child has a clue, but most rational thinking people know better.

I haven't seen any of my liberties attacked with anything remotely as encompassing as the Patriot Act since Obama took office. When he proposes something of that scale I might join you in your fear. As far as Obama trying to destroy capitalism, well that just seems hyperbolic. When I see the stock markets shut down by the Feds I'll believe it but until then I have to disagree with you. . .

M_M the Partriot Act was at least vetted through a senate oversite commitee. Not so with any of these insane spending bills! The Partriot Act was not designed to screw anyone, save terrorists, out of their individual liberty! The Patriot Act was good policy! We know for a fact that quite a few acts of national and international terror acts were thawrted because of it! That's a substantiated fact! Not that that fact means anything to the Bush haters, but I often wonder how these same Bush haters would have reacted had those seven planes been blown up over the Atlantic Ocean?

My 401k has taken a huge hit thanks to this ideological clown. That can not be denied. He has made a carreer, if you can call it that, out of demonizing capitalism, and capitalists. He said on Leno last night that he wants more people to become engineers, and other professionals. Who did he slam? Investment bankers! Why would say that if he were not blatantly showing his personal distain towards big business? He hates it!

He talks about taxing healthcare benefits and you don't think that is a direct attack on individual liberty? He has floated the idea of forcing military vets pay for their own healthcare for injuries they received while defending the country! He is going after the 2nd Amendment! He is going after 1st Amendment rights by trying to destroy anyone that dare question his policies! Look at how he has gone after Limbaugh, Santelli, and Cramer. Whether you like or loath these guys is irrelevent. What this man is doing is doing is unconscionable and certainly un-American. The Fairness Doctrine may not happen, but I'd be willing to wager that he will try and push it through the back door by insisting on locality rules or some other such crap. Those rules would have the exact same effect as the Fairness Doctrine without the stigma of the name.

He's a god damned ideologue, and to just pretend that he's not is insane! Say what you want about Bush, but he never tried to force the power of a centralized federal government down our collective throats. That is exactly what Barry Co. is trying to do!

Okay humour here for about ten minutes. Here's Mark levin just absolutly destroying Barack Obama's intellect and his understanding on the US Constitution. Mark explains Barry's obsession with wealth redistribution and his radical left agenda.

I don't care if Barry went to Harvard or not. Levin destroys him with solid facts here. This is not an opinion piece by Levin either. He destroys Barry with Constitutional facts that only an avowed Obamadrone or hard left socialist could ignore.

And if you feel bold enough. Try listening to these links as well. Levin disects Obama's Saul Alinsky roots. This isn't some tin foil hat conspiracy crap either. It is the very core blief upon which Barry Co. is determining the fate of our country. It's scary stuff. More so because so many people are clueless about it! Hence, they are drones.

Levin does tend to "throw it out there" with the hyberbolic low-brow humour and anger, but that's just schtick. Which is not to suggest that he doesn't make me laugh out loud with him, and he no doubt is pretty angry! Who's not? I find him funny as hell, but what keeps me listening is his incredible intellect and knowledge of constitutional law and the founding facts of the country. It's a well known fact amoungst many in the media that Levin can very rarely get any liberals to debate him in an open forum. Most won't go near him out of abject fear that he'll make them look stupid. He always does! He is indeed the George S. Patton of radio.

Blue just listen to him for about a solid week and then you're hooked. His book "Liberty and Tyranny: A Conservative Manifesto" is coming out soon and is on my "must read" list.

Rocks Off righties... so bitter. Such sore losers. really?

Actually, Mick doesn't use a teleprompter. Keep guessing. And aside from my reaction to his "joke" what did YOU think of it?

You're wrong as usual. Actually, Mick Jagger DOES use a teleprompter for every single song at every single show. All song lyrics and the witty stage banter is all scripted. Maybe you should add him to your asshole list.

‘It hurts not just me, but every athlete’

By Marie Szaniszlo  |   Saturday, March 21, 2009  |  http://www.bostonherald.com ; |  Local Coverage

Colin Davidson, a Special Olympics athlete who has won more than 100 gold medals over the past 18 years, was at his job at Stop & Shop yesterday when he read that President Obama, in an appearance Thursday on “The Tonight Show,” had compared his dismal performance in bowling to “the Special Olympics or something.”

Davidson, 26, shot some hoops outside his Northboro home after work and described his reaction to the Herald’s Marie Szaniszlo.

I was at work, where I stock shelves, bag and (round up) carriages, when I read about it in the New York Post.

I was insulted. I was a little irritated about it.

I know he was making a joke. But it hurts not just me, but every athlete in the Special Olympics, especially when it’s said by someone you support. You would think he would never say such a thing.

I got involved in the Special Olympics when I was in middle school. At first I tried the real football. Later, I played basketball, skiing, sailing, and track and field.

At the national games in 2006, I won a gold medal for the running long jump.

The whole organization is another family to me, which I’m grateful for.

It’s given me success, confidence, self-esteem and just taught me to be happy with who I am.

Its motto is: “Let me win. But if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt.”

What (Obama) said was wrong. But I accept his apology. It was sincere. It was meaningful. And it was nice of him to say that.

Every athlete out there is just being the best they can. It’s really nice to see people being friendly in the program and respecting one another.

I think inviting Special Olympics athletes to the White House would be a good thing.

I bowl just for fun. The last time I bowled, I think I scored a 245. I actually could kick the president’s butt at bowling. But I wouldn’t make fun of him if I did.

Terence Corcoran: Is this the end of America?

Posted: March 19, 2009, 7:38 PM by NP Editor
Terence Corcoran, Ben Bernanke, inflation

U.S. law-making is riddled with slapdash, incompetence and gamesmanship
By Terence Corcoran

Helicopter Ben Bernanke’s Federal Reserve is dropping trillions of fresh paper dollars on the world economy, the President of the United States is cracking jokes on late night comedy shows, his energy minister is threatening a trade war over carbon emissions, his treasury secretary is dithering over a banking reform program amid rising concerns over his competence and a monumentally dysfunctional U.S. Congress is launching another public jihad against corporations and bankers.

As an aghast world — from China to Chicago and Chihuahua — watches, the circus-like U.S. political system seems to be declining into near chaos. Through it all, stock and financial markets are paralyzed. The more the policy regime does, the worse the outlook gets. The multi-ringed spectacle raises a disturbing question in many minds: Is this the end of America?

Probably not, if only because there are good reasons for optimism. The U.S. economy has pulled out of self-destructive political spirals in the past, spurred on by its business class and corporate leaders, the profit-making and market-creating people who rose above the political turmoil to once again lift the world out of financial crisis. It’s happened many times before, except for once, when it took 20 years to rise out of the Great Depression.

Past success, however, is no guarantee of future recovery, especially now when there are daily disasters and new indicators of political breakdown. All developments are not disasters in themselves. The AIG bonus firestorm is a diversion from real issues , but it puts the ghastly political classes who make U.S. law on display for what they are: ageing self-serving demagogues who have spent decades warping the U.S. political system for their own ends. We see the system up close, law-making that is riddled with slapdash, incompetence and gamesmanship.

One test of whether we are witnessing the end of America is how many more times Americans put up with congressional show trials of individual business people and their employees, slandering and vilifying them for their actions and motives. And for how long will they tolerate a President who berates business and corporations as dens of crime and malfeasance? If the majority of Americans come to accept the caricatures of business as true, then America is closer to the end of its life as a global leader, as a champion of markets and individualism.

But America is at risk in other ways, especially in the technical business of setting and executing policy. The presidency of Barack Obama has set out on a course that has no precedent in U.S. history. Franklin D. Roosevelt, whose New Deal transformed the U.S. economy during the Great Depression, pushed America off on a sharply different political and ideological course. The Obama administration is different in many ways, not least in its supreme self-confidence in its methods and objectives.

Reform of health care, environmental policy, education, energy, banking, regulation — every nook and cranny of the U.S. economy has been put on alert for major change. Expansion of government spending, plunging the U.S. into unprecedented deficits, is without parallel. In economic policy, through regulation and control of energy output, financial services and monetary expansion, the U.S. government has embarked on a fundamental reshaping of America. It is designed, in short, to bring on the end of America.

The spillover effect of all this on the rest of the world promises to be dramatically disruptive. The greatest global risk is in monetary and currency policy. Below is a chart that graphically demonstrates the sharp deviation in monetary policy from past norms. Under the chairmanship of Ben Bernanke, the Federal Reserve is in the midst of a giant economic experiment, flooding the world with U.S. dollars, hoping that flood will stimulate economic activity.

The total monetary base, already at astronomical levels, is now expected to take another big hit with the new Fed policy of buying up U.S. longer-term treasury bills in a bid to drive down long-term interest rates.

Mr. Bernanke is sometimes known as “Helicopter Ben” because he once in an academic paper referred to the use of “helicopters” full of money to rescue an economy from deflation. In comments Wednesday to explain the Fed’s new policy of buying $300-billion in U.S. treasury bills, Mr. Bernanke noted that the Fed is now more worried about inflation being too low than about it getting too high in the future.

For the rest of the world, however, the worry is that America is at risk of becoming the fountainhead of a new inflationary outburst. The U.S. dollar is now in decline, gold is moving sharply higher, and new global currency turmoil is on the horizon.

It may not happen. A paper just published by the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, source of the chart above, says that the Fed will have to be prepared to absorb all the excess money it has poured into the U.S. economy. It will be a technical and political challenge unlike any central bank has ever undertaken. The future of America is at stake.

Listen to those. This is important stuff folks.

OK, so I listened.  Glad I got that over with.  So, Mr. Levin is your idea of a serious constitutional scholar?  Sheesh!  He's a political hack lacking the subtlety of mind to comprehend Prof. "Papa" Cass Sunstein's work.  Levin's popularity is evidence of what Sunstein called "cyberbalkanization," the diminution of democracy resulting from the tendency of citizens to isolate themselves within groups that share their own views and to cut themselves off from any information that might challenge their beliefs.

You would all do well to check out this interview with Prof. Sunstein:

Oh yes, like salon.com is itself not one of those cyberbalkanization groups. I tried posting on their boards several years ago & it was an ugly feast of liberal drones egging each other on. Even though you lefties aren't really listening, at least we're communicating with each other.

Well, what did you say? Maybe it was your words?

Liberal drones? What do you expect when you inject demeaning terms?

You may be surprised to learn that I agree with your general observation, if not with the insulting phrasing which fuman has noted.  My fellow leftists, like our counterparts on the right, often demonize the other side and refuse to communicate with them.  This phenomenon was especially apparent when I was in law school, where the ideological divide was so toxic that Harvard was sometimes called "the Beirut of legal education."  I even found myself shunned by some radicals for my willingness to sit down and talk issues over a few beers with prominent members of the Federalist Society, military officers and other conservative classmates.  It was a similar openness to those with differing opinions that earned the presidency of the Harvard Law Review for Barack.

There's hope for you yet! As for Obalama, I recall during the campaign how he said he could put 2 people who "violently disagreed" in the same room & get them to come to a consensus eventually. I thought beyond the narcissistic & fatuous nature of such a remark was a near-impossibility & frankly he's done NOTHING since the election to stand behind that promise. He's the flipside of President Bush, only slightly dimmer & a whole lot more expensive.

Actually, I rarely actually posted. When I did, it was usually a factoid to correct a glaring mistake. I would say salon.com is actually worse than freerepublic.com.
