Rush is a radio host. He's never indicated any interest in running for office. I'd vote for him sooner than I'd vote for Belly though.

Oops. Bring 'em on. I didn't realize I was avoiding "factual items".

Here's one I didn't see a response to:

You try and claim that FDR had to spend money to get the economy rolling. That's pure 100% unadulterated crap! WWII got us out of the Great Depression. If anything FDR extended the depression by at least six to seven years with his spending! Don't believe me?
Riffy [/quote]

Please explain to me how WWII got us out. What exactly was the benefit of WWII?

Wasn't it massive government spending? What did we get for that massive spending, we got thousands of jobs.
I'm all for letting industry create jobs, but that's not happening now.

I actually still get NEWSWEEK despite canceling it 4 months ago. I read that issue & David Frum made some good points in his article but a lot of it was that feigned outrage that NEWSWEEK seems to love - at least when it comes to republicans & other successful Americans.

I was just wondering if anyone had a different view of how WWII got us out of the depression. I say massive spending worked then, and I haven't heard any economists opine a better idea.

Sure, our deficit is going to be huge. But if the country benefits, so what. We'll pay it back down eventually.

Nixon started the HMO debacle, according to released White House tapes. What I heard wasn't pretty.

Hippies are loooooooooooooozers. You read it here first. Dirty smelly low-down looooooooooooozzzzzzers. I'm not sure we need to plunge into debt like this. We've had other recessions & things were tough but Obalama's using this crisis as an opportunity (indeed, his pals even put it that way!)to give away money to losers who aren't ever likely to work. Welfare is back.

I don't have facts, but why would the administration keep detainees that they knew were innocent? Maybe they didn't realize their innocence at first, and maybe they didn't want freed detainees to discuss the techniques that were used. Maybe. Maybe my "wondering" about the guinea pig angle is wrong. Maybe.

Continuing to detain innocents certainly takes resources away from the known detainees. And it was very expensive to house these guys. What was the benefit? Occam's razor?

No argument was offered as to why this angle is off base, so I continue to wonder. Isn't that what we all do, trying to decipher all of the information we absorb?

Don't give yourself credit so quickly. You haven't forwarded an original thought here.
Hippies are losers was shouted back in the sixties. And where is you evidence?

It is well known in DC, that a new president has the most opportunity to advance their agenda in the first year. Our president wasn't going to let the crisis derail his campaign promises and his vision. And I agree with him that energy, health-care, and education are tied to our economy.

Never said boo??? I HATED Bush with every fiber of my being. MM..I do not know what has happened to me other than to say my eyes are finally open. Perhaps with age comes wisdom? Thank God Obama did NOT tap Hillary to be VEEP as I would be regretting my vote for him. The fact that he NEVER considered her (he was intimidated is my guess) speaks VOLUMNS about this man's lack of good judgement.

Not sure how to answer your question re McCain. A GOP WH and a Dem Congress would be better than what we have now. I do know that.

I do know one other thing. I spent 8 years hiding under the bed whenever the POTUS was shown on television. And now I'm back to feeling the SAME WAY about the current POTUS.

Goddamn it we need a tour.

I just meant I don't recall you saying anything specific about Bush's deficit spending, that's all. I think Obama needs to stay away from Biden to avoid the "saying really stupid things" disease. I'll reserve judgement on the presidency as a whole until the mid-term elections.

I have no problem casting judgement on this ridiculously dangerous presidency. This presidency will go down as the worst ever. Our debt is going to be insane because of this asshole's ideology. He dosn't care if he wrecks the economy though. That's the 800 pound gorilla that nobody, save some on talk radio, seems to talking about. He wants to devastate the economy so he can take control of the free market. Anyone that can't see that has partisan blinders on! M_M I'd have thoughtthat you were pragmatic enough to see through Obama's attack on capitalism. He is gathering an inordinate amount of power for the federal government, and every single American should be vey wary of that. When the federal government gains power you loose liberty! All the Founders knew this and warned of it! For proof just se the tagline by Jefferson in my sig. Yet many just ignore these warnings. Why?

"President Barack Obama's budget would produce $9.3 trillion in deficits over the next decade,
more than four times the deficits of Republican George W. Bush's presidency

So says the CBO. When Bush was in office the CBO's word was godlike, and they were dead on right every time! Now Democrats, Obama, and gullible Obamadrones just willingly ignore any and all warnings from the CBO. Here's a Special Olympian with something special to say.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) - The top bowler for the Special Olympics looks forward to meeting President Barack Obama in an alley.

"He bowled a 129. I bowl a 300. I could beat that score easily," Michigan's Kolan McConiughey (KO-lahn Mc-KAHNA-he) told The Associated Press in an interview Friday.

The athletic-minded president made an offhand remark Thursday on "The Tonight Show" comparing his weak bowling to "the Special Olympics or something." He quickly apologized and told the Special Olympics chairman he wants to have some of its athletes visit the White House to bowl or play basketball.

McConiughey, who is mentally disabled, is just the bowler for the job. He's bowled five perfect games since 2005.

The 35-year-old McConiughey has been bowling since he was 8 or 9. His advice for Obama? Practice every day.

If I might add, my nephew is in SO & I have watched the events & the "audacity of hope" that Obalama wrote about? The Special Olympics is where you find it, not in some hack pol's crappy bio. Half the day I had a MASSIVE lump in my throat.

I haven't seen any of my liberties attacked with anything remotely as encompassing as the Patriot Act since Obama took office. When he proposes something of that scale I might join you in your fear. As far as Obama trying to destroy capitalism, well that just seems hyperbolic. When I see the stock markets shut down by the Feds I'll believe it but until then I have to disagree with you. . .
