Riffy, I was disturbed one paragraph ahead of you! This:

"Yet I read that we’re actually holding up dozens of key appointments at the Treasury Department because we are worried whether someone paid Social Security taxes on a nanny hired 20 years ago at $5 an hour. That’s insane. It’s as if our financial house is burning down but we won’t let the Fire Department open the hydrant until it assures us that there isn’t too much chlorine in the water. Hello?"

I've known people who have screwed up their taxes. They are HOUNDED by the IRS. Even the Obalamadrones admit that Geithner's tax situation troubles them. Are we supposed to give everyone a free pass? Is it too much to ask that the people deciding new tax policy should have followed the old tax policies that were in place at the time?

As for the paragraph you cited, Obalama actually doesn't need GOP support at all. He has solid majorities in both houses & a slobbering media to give him cover. If Rush Limbaugh hadn't been targeted by them back in Oct. 2008, I'd be less dubious about how "shocked" they are by his "outrageous" statements. I haven't read the rest of Friedman's article yet. It makes me glad that a year ago this month I dropped the NY Times home delivery. I'm saving $1400 per year but I'm also just another reason why they are bleeding money right now. I love it!

AP (Washington, DC) - March 11, 2009 -- Scientists at Tardrite Corporation today announced a monumental breakthrough in helmet technology with the release of the exciting new "Presidential" model.  Dr. Aryu Fukinkiddinme, CEO of Tardrite, explained that the 2009 Presidential model has a number of cutting-edge features including the patented "socialistometer" that allows on-the-fly determination and correction if the wearer's direction is heading too far to the right.  The Presidential model also has a green power system that runs off the hot air generated by the wearer, and the proprietary Janus system that allows the wearer to say one thing while doing the exact opposite.  Dr. Fukinkiddinme notes "this new generation of Tardrite is designed to help even the most severely handicapped go about his business as if he knows exactly what he is doing."

LOL! Brilliant!

Hey Nanky remember when the liberal freaks said that Bush was using some kind of device when he was debating that other liberal freak John "D student" Kerry? Remember that they even produced a photo that they, in their seething hatered, claimed was evidence of such a device?

Well what do you think about Rahm Emanual and David Axelrod's idea to have a screen built into the presidential podium so that they can feed him, "facts, charts, and graphs on-the-fly"!! ROTFLMMFAO!!! Can you believe the "audacity of idiocy" that this administration is showing?!?!?! It's stunning! The man/child goes nowhere without his teleprompter because when he does he becomes a babbling fool. So now they want to pull a "Blondie" on him, and have someone feed him the answers from backstage! Stunning! I wonder what the Obamadrones are going to think about that? "Ignore the man behind the curtian!"

...

Psst, Barry the answer is......

Riffy

I hadn't heard that either. Why is Obalama so smart that he can't speak on the fly? I am less & less impressed by this moron every day.

In addition Obama has promised all college students they can refuse to pay any loans ... just send balance to Fanny Mae ... plus they will be awarded salaries equal to or greater than the median Wall Street CEO ... all they need to do is ask Tresuary to start sending them a pay check when they are ready ... "we is family" this going to be such Hyper-Fun ...

From Friedman:

"All this will require leadership of the highest order — bold decisions, persistence and persuasion. There is a huge amount of money on the sidelines eager to bet again on America. But right now, there is too much uncertainty; no one knows what will be the new rules governing investments in our biggest financial institutions. If President Obama can produce and sell that plan, private investors, big and small, will give us a stimulus like you’ve never seen."

This guy is almost as stupid as Obalama! The whole reason people are sitting on the sidelines is BECAUSE of the policies already announced! More Obalama socialism is NOT going to loosen up money.

Alert Board Moderator about this Post!
On the morning of Sept. 11, 2001, just minutes before learning of the terrorist attacks on America, Democratic strategist James Carville was hoping for President Bush to fail, telling a group of Washington reporters: "I certainly hope he doesn't succeed."

Carville was joined by Democratic pollster Stanley Greenberg, who seemed encouraged by a survey he had just completed that revealed public misgivings about the newly minted president.

"We rush into these focus groups with these doubts that people have about him, and I'm wanting them to turn against him," Greenberg admitted.

The pollster added with a chuckle of disbelief: "They don't want him to fail. I mean, they think it matters if the president of the United States fails."

Minutes later, as news of the terrorist attacks reached the hotel conference room where the Democrats were having breakfast with the reporters, Carville announced: "Disregard everything we just said! This changes everything!"

The press followed Carville's orders, never reporting his or Greenberg's desire for Bush to fail. The omission was understandable at first, as reporters were consumed with chronicling the new war on terror. But months and even years later, the mainstream media chose to never resurrect those controversial sentiments, voiced by the Democratic Party's top strategists, that Bush should fail.

That omission stands in stark contrast to the feeding frenzy that ensued when radio host Rush Limbaugh recently said he wanted President Obama to fail. The press devoted wall-to-wall coverage to the remark, suggesting that Limbaugh and, by extension, conservative Republicans, were unpatriotic.

"The most influential Republican in the United States today, Mr. Rush Limbaugh, said he did not want President Obama to succeed," Carville railed on CNN recently. "He is the daddy of this Republican Congress."

Limbaugh, a staunch conservative, emphasized that he is rooting for the failure of Obama's liberal policies.

"The difference between Carville and his ilk and me is that I care about what happens to my country," Limbaugh told Fox on Wednesday. "I am not saying what I say for political advantage. I oppose actions, such as Obama's socialist agenda, that hurt my country.

"I deal in principles, not polls," Limbaugh added. "Carville and people like him live and breathe political exploitation. This is all a game to them. It's not a game to me. I am concerned about the well-being and survival of our nation. When has Carville ever advocated anything that would benefit the country at the expense of his party?"

Carville told Politico that focusing on Limbaugh is a deliberate strategy aimed at undermining Republicans.

"The television cameras just can't stay away from him," he said. "Our strategy depends on him keeping talking, and I think we're going to succeed."

Greenberg added: "He's driving the Republican reluctance to deal with Obama, which Americans want."

In 2006, 51 percent of Democrats wanted Bush to fail, according to a FOX News/Opinion Dynamics poll.

Ah, you're a Hillary supporter. In my view, she was perfectly placed as SOS after her loss to Obama. I love the fact that the USA has a smart woman traveling around talking with heads of state, oblivious to their BS. Able to counter their old arguments with common sense. It's also nice that Bill has less exposure these days . . .

Vince Foster.

Don't sell me short -- I can complain about most everything in this joke of an Administration.

But the Secretary of State should know the dignitaries' names with whom she is meeting.
She has an entire entourage at her disposal to make sure those little gaffes don't happen.

As Secretary of State, former US Senator and former First Lady, I would expect her to have a grasp of basic world history.  Instead, she embarrassed herself (and the Administration) by stating that US democracy was older than European democracy.

This woman is a hack - pure and simple.

Yes I am.
I am also a registered Independent.

Don't let the GOP'ers fool ya. Most HAVE to admit (and have admitted to me privately) that they would be MUCH calmer had Hillary won the Presidency over Obama.
