The reason the stock market has been in a frenzy is BECAUSE of Geithner's "performance" to that Congressional panel. See, after you get elected, you have to govern. Obalama's team has forgotten that. Instead, they're running again...

"The Center for American Progress -- "which has emerged as perhaps Washington's most influential idea factory in the age of Obama -- is launching a major new war room, to be staffed by nearly a dozen people, that will focus on driving the White House's message and agenda," Greg Sargent reports.

"The new war room -- which is called Progressive Media -- represents a serious ratcheting up of efforts to present a united liberal front in the coming policy wars. The goal of the war room will be to do hard-hitting research that boils down complex and thorny policy questions into usable talking points and narratives that play well in the media and build public support for the White House's policy goals."

Typical Obama douchebag supporter:

THE surrealness of it struck me yesterday at Bon MarchĂ©. The man at the exchange counter, usually so surly, asked me my nationality. I got ready to do the usual: bowing my head with shame and whispering so no one could hear: “ Americaine”. Then it hit me. I no longer had to feel ashamed! Barack Obama had liberated me and my fellow expats from a lifetime of humiliation. “I’m American!” I practically shouted, loud enough for the Japanese at the next desk to look up and grin. In the 25 years I have lived overseas I have gone through myriad ruses to hide my nationality, ever since I saw my first anti-American demo in Oxford Street in 1982. Then, I was so green I could not understand why anyone could hate the land where the buffalo roamed. After about three years in England, I was marching too — against Ronald Reagan, against the wars in Central America, against Bush Senior and finally Bush Junior. I developed elaborate excuses about my origins: Italian father, British nationality, and so on. But after Barack, it’s different. The day of the elections, I received this email from a French friend: “To my American friends, this won’t happen often, so savour it. Here is a high five to your great country from a Frenchman.” Another French friend wrote: “You guys make huge mistakes but when you do it right, you really do it. Congratulations!” The man in the tabac today called me “cherie” after he realised I was from the US. At my son’s school, one of the more obnoxious fathers was sporting an Obama T-shirt (and he’s not even American). French mums are wearing starspangled banner scarves and French designer Catherine Malandrino has designed a stars-andstripes silk dress. It reminds me of another brief time when everyone wanted to be American in Paris. In the classic 1959 Godard film Breathless, the gangster, played by Jean-Paul Belmondo, falls in love with the gamine Jean Seberg, an American girl who carries the Herald Tribune in one hand and betrays him with the other. How beloved America was at that time, the era when JFK brought Jackie to Paris. But I know it won’t last. As a French friend warned me: “At last, we forgive you for the Bush years. You’re our friend now. But be careful. We have very short memories.”

I am not "ashamed" to be an American, although some of our policies are shameful. I would prefer to agree with the outrage, rather than hide my nationality.
France was right about Iraq. We renamed french fries "freedom fries". That was a joke.

Please excuse the inherent bias in this article but it sucks when even your media acolytes are growing tired. We're all tired now?

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - When billionaire investor Warren Buffett says President Barack Obama's economic message is muddled and undermining public confidence, it's worth listening.

Halfway through his first 100 days in office, ace communicator Obama has struggled to find the right tone in talking about the economy, twinning bleak warnings with optimism about the future.

On the campaign trail, Obama said a president must be able to do more than one thing at a time, and his White House has been doing that.

He and his aides have interspliced comments about the economy while launching theme-of-the-day initiatives on healthcare, stem cell research and on Tuesday, education.

Last week the White House spent some time accusing conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh of being leader of the Republican Party.

But Obama, together with Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, White House economic guru Lawrence Summers and others have so far failed to explain how they plan to rescue American banks, some of which are teetering on the brink of collapse.

There is talk of "stress tests" for troubled banks, or nationalizing them or letting some fail -- but no clear plan.

Buffett, an informal Obama adviser considered a financial seer on Wall Street, told CNBC on Monday the message has to be "very, very clear as to what government will be doing."

"And I think we've had, and it's the nature of the political process somewhat, but we've had muddled messages and the American public does not know. They feel they don't know what's going on, and their reaction then is to absolutely pull back," he said.

At the White House, spokesman Robert Gibbs reacted defensively, saying Obama has only been in office seven weeks and it should be no surprise that "all of the problems that took many years to take hold haven't necessarily been solved."

Obama, at Tuesday's education event, rejected criticism that he is trying to do too many things at once, citing three predecessors who managed to juggle challenges on many fronts --Abraham Lincoln, Franklin Roosevelt and John Kennedy.

"President Kennedy didn't have the luxury of choosing between civil rights and sending us to the moon. And we don't have the luxury of choosing between getting our economy moving now and rebuilding it over the long term," he said.

Obama is benefiting from high popular support. Polls give him a 60 percent approval rating and experts say voters seem willing to give him time to get his sea legs.

"You've got a public that is going to cut the president some slack and understands this is a deep-seated problem," said American Enterprise Institute political analyst Norman Ornstein.

Although not part of the Obama Administration, I didn't want you all to miss this:

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has repeatedly requested military aircraft to shuttle her and her colleagues and family around the country, according to a new report from a conservative watchdog group.

Representatives for Judicial Watch, which obtained e-mails and other documents from a Freedom of Information request, said the correspondence shows Pelosi has abused the system in place to accommodate congressional leaders and treated the Air Force as her "personal airline."

The e-mails showed repeated attempts by Pelosi aides to request aircraft, sometimes aggressively, and by Department of Defense officials to accommodate them.

"I think that's above and beyond what other members of Congress are doing and what is expected of our elected officials," said Jenny Small, a researcher with the group.

The group reported that Pelosi was notorious for making special demands for high-end aircraft, lodging last-minute cancellations, and racking up additional expenses for the military.

In one e-mail, aide Kay King complained to the military that they had not made available any aircraft the House speaker wanted for Memorial Day recess.

"It is my understanding there are NO G5s available for the House during the Memorial Day recess. This is totally unacceptable ... The Speaker will want to know where the planes are," King wrote.

In another, when told a certain type of aircraft would not be available, King wrote: "This is not good news, and we will have some very disappointed folks, as well as a very upset Speaker."
Pelosi's office has not yet responded to requests for comment.

I for one am in favor of the "second in line to assume the commander in chief duty", be allowed to travel on our dime. If she is traveling around to campaign or support others who are campaigning however, I say somebody has to reimburse the taxpayers. The DNC. RNC, whatever. That is not what tax dollars are to be used for. This is exactly why voters must pay attention. Give them an inch, and they will take a mile. Both sides.

Looks like he has a problem with the word "forcefully", that's all.

I can see Reid's point though. Do you forcefully feed yourself? No, you do feed yourself to survive. You don't have a choice.

My point was only that I would not object to Hastert doing it. He pulled some shady deals himself. They all do.

The military budget IS way overblown. Cutting it will cost jobs though. Cutting ineffective government agencies (as Obama has said he will do) will cut jobs too. Tough decisions . . .

Yes, but taxes are why this country is what it is. Schools are built through tax dollars, air traffic controllers are paid by tax dollars. Just two completely random examples, but valid I think. There are many better examples of why taxes are necessary.

edit: sure, many Dems don't pay their taxes. Many Repub's too.

"Yes, but taxes are why this country is what it is."

No, government spending is why taxes are what they are.

If the government -- and this goes for all, but especially the federal government -- were to restrict its size rather than try and be a nanny state, then the amount of taxes needed would be less.

We do not need to federalize our healthcare system or our education system.

Although those systems could be improved, federalization is certainly not the only option.
Nor is it the most efficient option as evidenced by other federal entitlement programs that are utter failures -- Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security to name three.

The Federal government is simply in way too many areas that should be handled by state and local governments, or better yet by individuals.  Why do we need the Feds to collect money, waste a third in admin, another third in political correctness, then redistribute what's left based on politics.

If Georgia needs money for roads and bridges they should collect it themselves, not try to get farmers in Iowa to pay more than their share.  Same with education and at least half the rest of the federal government.  The Feds do not add value, they simply piss away dollars to buy votes.

What happened to common sense?

You are uninformed, at least with Sarah Palin. BTW Did you know that Biden's family members didn't pay their taxes? As for Joe the Plumber, his tax problem was in the past & he wasn't a GOPer, either. He might be at this point though!

During The Campaign, President Obama Pledged To “Go Line By Line” And “Eliminate Programs That Don’t Work.” Obama: “I want to go line by line through every item in the Federal budget and eliminate programs that don't work, and make sure that those that do work work better and cheaper.” (Sen. Barack Obama, NBC Presidential Debate, Nashville, TN, 10/7/08)

Today, Robert Gibbs Said “The president has not gone through each and every item in the legislation.” Gibbs: “I think it's reasonable to assume that the president has not gone through each and every item in the legislation. This is necessary to continue funding government. It represents last year's business, although it's not perfect. The president will sign the legislation, but demonstrate for all involved rules moving forward that he thinks can make this process work a little bit better.” (Robert Gibbs, White House Briefing, 3/10/09)
