I have really been having a tough time defending Bush of late. Though to be honest I have always bitched about his spending from day one, and I'm not talking about necessary spending like the war. I am no Bush Geek as some one sided mono visual types love to claim. I support Bush when he's right, and withdraw that support when he's wrong. The bailout bill is wrong on every level and I can't defend it for a second.
Riffy

That's some Mighty Boosh.  Dude, three weeks ago, you were saying he had to go bailwad because otherwise it was "total economic collapse" or some media buzz words like that.  You should have gone with your alleged principles, because now it looks like you were for socialism before you were against it.

Also, and more to the point, over the last 5-6 years, I have trashed George Walker Bush III on the soil of FOUR foreign sovereignties, including the U.S.'s only two physical contiguousities.  Most people haven't even been to four countries, and I've manged to trash that goon in four.  Four fucking foreign soils.  References available upon request.

Hey I have no problem admitting that I was on board with the bailout at first, but that is before I saw what it looked like. So yes, you could say that I was for it before I was against it. The thing is that I felt that if there was no stability in the market then a complete freefall was in the offing. However, just like I have done with Barry, I actually started to study exactly what the bailout entailed and I was stunned with the details of it. I am thankful that certain conservative members of congress stood up and shot the first one down along with the $20,000,000,000.00 that was headed directly to ACORN as per Obama's request. You know ACORN, that totally nonpartisan group that just tries to help people fulfill their civic duty and vote. LOL!

John McCain seemed to be fine with the bailout after perusing the details of package # 2. So I figure that he must know something that I don't. It was a shit sandwich and everyone was gonna have to take a bite whether we liked it or not.

You are correct sir! I put down an aditional three zeros. That was my mistake. It was completely unintentional! You can call it a Biden Moment if you like. However, they would have actually received substantially more than 20 million. They were originally to take in close to 20% of the 700 billion dollar bailout! I am in the process of gathering a list of links that will lay it all out. Give me a minute or two. And, yes Pdog, Barrack Obama sure as hell did put pressure on the Dims to make that happen! That reminds me, I will also find the link in which Barry tells those fine upstanding felons at ACORN that when he gets into the WH he will have them in the Oval Office to help him dictate policy!

Riffy,

You continue to be confused about the nature of the ACORN issue.  The false voter registrations produced by ACORN canvassers were not a fraud perpetrated by ACORN, but a fraud perpetrated on ACORN by dishonest employees.  As I'm sure you know (since you are a careful student of these issues), ACORN's role in the handling of these registrations has been to sort them into three groups:  confirmed (actual contact with registrant), unconfirmed (unable to make contact) and suspicious (Mickey Mouse, etc.).  The suspicious registrations were flagged by ACORN for county election officials to examine.  It was these flagged, suspicious registrations which have been latched onto by Hannity et al. for the usual purposes.

Speaking of political purposes, howe about the leak about the FBI investigation of ACORN?  Such a leak of an ongoing investigation is a serious violation of Justice Dept. policy and the law.  On the other hand, it is precisely consistent with the practices of the Bush Justice Dept.  In fact, refusal by some U.S. Attorneys to pursue bogus voter fraud charges immediately before elections ( a ploy as transparent as the current leak).

On the general subject of voter fraud:  There has been a concerted effort to conflate the issues of voter registration fraud and actual voting fraud.  Voter registration fraud (filing of false voter registration application) is probably not uncommon.  It is not, however, a serious problem, because a fraudulent registration does not typically result in a fraudulent vote being cast.  This is primarily because the typical registration fraud is the sort I have described.  Actual voter fraud, by contrast, would be a serious threat to our system.  Fortunately, it is virtually unheard of.  As I understand it, there have only been 24 confirmed cases of actual voter fraud in the entire U.S. in the past 6 years.

The true purpose of this entire ACORN flap, as I have already explained, is to advance John McCain's campaign on three fronts:  first, by impugning Barack's integrity and arousing false fears of voter fraud in persons unclear on the distinction drawn in the previous paragraph; second, to provide cover for Republican efforts to suppress voter turnout; and finally, to provide a wedge to either attack the election results or undermine President Obama's legitimacy.

Here ya go Pdog. This is just one from Politico.

Earlier today, when House Republican leadership framed its opposition to the bailout bill as it currently stands, a principal objection focused on the group ACORN, which the e-mail alert called "the scandal-tarnished 'community organizing group'" -- with scare quotes in the original.

They're referring to the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, a group generally allied with Democrats and derided by the GOP as corrupt, inefficient and a front-group for Democratic efforts on the ground.

In issuing the statement, House leaders are reflecting -- and also feeding -- a reaction to the provision that has exploded in the last day or more. Our colleague Ben Smith says he's gotten more than a dozen anti-ACORN e-mails in just the last few hours. The viral uprising is both organic and institutionally driven. Prominent bloggers have fed the flames and so has the Wall Street Journal editorial page; several of the e-mails sent to Smith reference a House leadership alert on the "ACORN Slush Fund" and others refer to the Journal opinion. On Thursday night, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) told The Crypt that his friend Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) opposes the provision.

"The draft bill includes a left-wing giveaway that would force taxpayers to bankroll a slush fund for a discredited ally of the Democratic Party," reads one leadership alert. "At issue is ACORN, an organization fraught with controversy for, among other scandals, its fraudulent voter registration activities on behalf of Democratic candidates. Rather than returning any profits made in the long-term from the economic rescue package, Democrats want to first reward their radical allies at ACORN for their (often illegal) help in getting Democrats elected to office."

http://www.politico.com/blogs/thecrypt/0908/ACORN_issue_fueling_bailout_oppositi...

Here's another.

House Republicans refused to support the Henry Paulson/Chris Dodd compromise bailout plan yesterday afternoon, even after the New York Times reported that Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson got down on one knee to beg Nancy Pelosi to compromise.  One of the sticking points, as Senator Lindsey Graham explained later, wasn’t a lack of begging but a poison pill that would push 20% of all profits from the bailout into the Housing Trust Fund — a boondoggle that Democrats in Congress has used to fund political-action groups like ACORN and the National Council of La Raza.

http://hotair.com/archives/2008/09/26/the-democratic-acorn-bailout/

And here's good ol' Barry telling ACORN that they will help shape his presidential agenda.

Not that any of these facts will change your mind. Nothing seems to presuade Obama supporters from seeing the truth about their guy. However, I would encourage you to at least read this linked article. If this won't do it then nothing will. Don't let the website scare you off. Everything that is reported here is backed up with links and corresponding evidence that back up the veracity of the claimsHe's dirty as hell Pdog! Scary dirty in fact! Don't bel;ieve me though. Just read it for yourself. Anyone that would vote for this man after reading and understanding the facts about his background and his belief system is beyond my ability to understand.

The man is a goddamned Marxist BJ. You know it. I know it, and anyone that bothers to follow the clues and do just a modicum of research will it know too! Some people just refuse to see the truth. It's way easier to just blame the other side for this freakshow's background.

Please read the last link that I provided in the previous pot. ACORN IS corrupt and the FBI came right out and said as much last week.

Yes, we all know that in certain areas of the country the election officials are extra careful to make sure no one votes who shouldn't. LOL I've read enough stories about Phillt vagrants voting in NJ that I don't believe it for a second. Just because it's Hannity pushing a story doesn't make it wrong.

That's it in a (pun not inteneded) nutshell. Nothing else needs to be said, the rest is just yeeling and contriving these far fetched allegations. Shit, I might be impressed if Riffy actually supported and tried convincing me why I should like the republican candidate. Truth is, he didn't care until Bush in drag got on the ticket.
What's really funny, if it was any Dem, Riffy would be coming up with these crazy conspiracies and false allegations. I can only imagine, and I try to, what they would be like if Mrs. Clinton was the nominee... OMG!!!
Riffy... you need to get over yourself, and stop telling me I'm stupid, ignorant and misinformed, your sources of information take allegations and very vague if not totally false statements and innuendos and blow them into huge loud lies. You're are the very thing, you put down about far left radical and conspirists.
I've been wondering... Even though, I don't like the actions of democrats or the left wing looney groups, unlike you, they never made me change me ideals or convictions... i wonder, how you actually lost your so called former beliefs, because of the actions of people, who let you down? Amnd that you are so extreme, and so full of vitriol towards these former beleifs, makes me wonder, did you really hold them? and if you did, and now are so smart, and so right, how do i know this ain't really pumped up bullshit too... you got fooled once, you can be fooled again... smart ain't wjat you read, smart is isn't even in a book!

The Chicago Tribune has endorsed Barack!  This is absolutely not "Ho hum, his local paper endorsed him."  The Trib has never endorsed a Democrat for President, and they're been around since Lincoln's day or before.  This means they did not endorse Illinois Governor Adlai Stevenson on either of his runs in the Fifties.  This is big stuff.

Oh, Riffy, I tried so hard to spare you the embarrassment of exposing your ignorance of history by reminding you explicitly of Adlai Stevenson, the 1952 and 1956 Democratic nominee for President, who was Governor of Illinois and before that a Chicago lawyer (now and then in government service) starting in 1926 and running through his election as governor in 1948.  Four years later, he hosted the Democratic Convention in Chicago and so impressed delegates that he was drafted as the nominee.  Stevenson had far deeper ties to Chicago, he was nominated in Chicago despite not even having run, yet the Trib declined to endorse him--twice.  Again, because the Trib doesn't endorse Democrats (until Barack came along).  Pay attention and you'll catch these lifelines I'm throwing you.

Hey BJ let me aks you a question. NBC has a satellite newsvan outside of Joe the plumber's house. Have they ever bothered to pull a van up to William Ayer and Bernardine Dorn's house? How about Tony Rezko's house, or jail cell? No? How about Jeremiah Wright's house? No? What about ACORN's Madeleine Talbott's house? Perhaps Daniel Cantor's house? Uh, maybe not.

Just wondering.

Adlai! Damn I'd forgotten about him! Well I'll concede the point then. However, the Trib's endorsment is tits on a bull. Useless.

2 points and shrinking!

Spread the wealth around!! You too can live in a utopian Marxist society! Barry will lead us all! Drink up.

You may be missing my point.  The endorsement is not important because it may influence any votes in a state Barack is sure to win.  It is important as an indication of the national mood.
I see the Kool-Aid, but you're missing the watermelon, ribs and KFC on your fellow Nobamidiot's "hilarious" "Obama Bucks/U.S. Food Stamps" with Barack's face on it (since he doesn't look like the faces on the dollar bills--get it?).  Some of the comments on this local account of the incident are revealing (and lend credence to John Lewis's evocation of George Wallace).

The race card?! You're gonna play the race card now?! Well then that puts you in good company with Murtha.

Oh, and now that Barry has come out stated that he will reinstitute the draconian 1990 Clean Air Act and include carbon dioxide on the list of pollutants I can see a breathing tax right around the corner! LOL! The guy is a fucking joke! How many "blue collar" smoke stack industry jobs do you think will be lost thanks to this little bit of idiocy? Let's tax major corporations to the neck and chase them, and all the jobs that they create right out of the country! Great thinking Barry!

You can't ignore the race element in this election; it's the only factor that's even keeping the result of the race in question at all.

No matter what Obama drones read it won't matter to any of them. Barry could be standing in a room full of dead bodies with a bloody knife in his hand and the drones won't see it. I have learned that much just from seeing this piss poor candidate advance his carreer through lies and associations that would have disqualified any other like candidate in the history of American politics.

See Meg, I'm passionate about this because I do know what Barry is all about. I am not nearly as close to the "deep end" as you think btw. I have faith that the majority of Americans will see through this fraud well before the first week of November. The polls are already confirming this fact. That you, and others here haven't bothered to open your eyes to the reality of this moron is of no genuine concern to me. I know many people that fully supported the Marxist who now have had the veil lifted from their eyes. In fact at least four people that I work with have changed their minds about him in just the last couple of weeks.

Spread the wealth around commrade!!!

At the end of this election I will still be good old loveable Riffy, and I will harbour no ill feelings towards anyone. And, on the off chance, that the people of this nation do go completely insane and turn their backs on the US Constitution and elect this idiot even then I will be fine. Because I know for a fact that he will destroy the Democrat Party as we know it. It'll be good riddence to bad rubbish as far as I'm concerned, and I'll hope that the party moves back to the ways of the Democrat Party of old. JFK could never be a Democrat today. Funny then that doesn't give most Dems of today pause. JFK believed in lower taxes and a strong military. He would not be included in the tent today.
