so you are immune to anything that might happen? And you look forward to a depression that will literally crush people that are already hurting? Dude, that is posting above the Ivory Tower with Rose Colored Glasses.

I'm just so disappointed in the sheer number of idiots who voted for the Supreme Moron last Nov. 4. I'm not worried for myself; I'm worried for my country, my family, my friends. I already know 3 people who have lost their jobs & this is only getting worse because of ineffectual idiocy on behalf of your Idiot. Sure, you can post great pix of "Mr. Cool" but do you realize how fucking dopey he is? Look at what his ineptitude has done to the markets just over the last week. And I know you disdain my cut & pastes but give that Krauthammer article a run-through. This guy is in WAY over his head & all he's doing is continuing his perpetual campaign & paying lip service to those who amke this country work whilst giving a pass &$13 to those who TAKE TAKE TAKE!

The last 8 years? We had a great economy for 6 1/2 of them. Up until Sept, things were going well. Even Iraq was winding up SUCCESSFULLY. I realize that some countries didn't like us but they toed the line. With this dipshit, they're openly flaunting him & there will be no response. I think a Depression will be one of a plethora of problems & this guy has gotten off to a really shaky start, even if the MSM doesn't say so. When Bubba Clinton has to tell him to smile, you know things are bad.

Oh no! Another cut'n'paste!

WASHINGTON -- The vehicles owned by the Obama administration's auto team could reflect one reason why Detroit's Big Three automakers are in trouble: The list includes few new American cars.

Among the eight members named Friday to the Presidential Task Force on the Auto Industry and the 10 senior policy aides who will assist them in their work, two own American models. Add the Treasury Department's special adviser to the task force and the total jumps to three.

The Detroit News reviewed public records to discover what many of the task force and staff members drove, but information was not available on all of the officials, and records for some states were not complete.

At least two task force members don't own a car, and there are still two open slots on the 10-member panel that will be filled by the secretaries of labor and commerce, who have not yet been appointed.

The co-chairs of the task force -- Treasury Secretary Timothy F. Geithner and White House National Economic Council Director Lawrence Summers -- both own foreign automobiles.

Geithner owns a 2008 Acura TSX, registered in New York. He once owned a 1999 Honda Accord and a 2002 Acura MDX, according to public records.

Geithner is the president's designee for purposes of enforcing loan agreements with GM and Chrysler and must approve or reject any proposed transactions by either company that would cost $100 million or more.

His maternal grandfather, Charles Moore, was a vice president at Ford Motor Co. from 1952-63, according to Peter Geithner, the secretary's father. But Geithner wasn't very interested in cars growing up -- in part because he graduated from high school in Asia, his father said.

Summers owns a 1995 Mazda Protege that's registered in Massachusetts. He previously owned a 1996 Ford Taurus GL.

What other task force members drive:

• Office of Management and Budget Director Peter Orszag owns a 2008 Honda Odyssey and a 2004 Volvo S60. He previously owned a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee and 1982 Datsun.

• Carol Browner, the White House climate czar, said earlier this month at the Washington Auto Show that she doesn't own an automobile. Public records show she once owned a 1999 Saab 9-5 SE.

• Energy Secretary Steven Chu doesn't own a car, his wife, Jean Fetter, said in a telephone interview on Sunday. Cabinet officials are typically transported to and from work by security officials in government vehicles.

• Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lisa Jackson owns a 2008 Toyota Prius and a Honda Odyssey minivan, she said Sunday. "It's great," she said of her Prius.

• Vehicle information was not available for Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood or Christine Romer, head of the Council of Economic Advisers.

Here's what task force policy aides drive:

• Austan Goolsbee, staff director and chief economist for the White House Economic Recovery Advisory Board, owns a 2004 Toyota Highlander.

• Joan DeBoer, the chief of staff to LaHood, said in an interview Sunday she drives a 2008 Lexus RX 350. She doesn't consider herself "a car buff" and views her car as a way to get around town.

• Heather Zichal, deputy director of the White House Office of Energy and Climate Change, owns a Volvo C30, according to public records and officials.

• Gene Sperling, counsel to the Treasury Secretary, owns a 2003 Lincoln LS, and previously owned a 1993 Saturn SL2.

• Edward B. Montgomery, senior adviser to the Labor Department, owns a 1991 Harley-Davidson and previously owned a 1990 Ford Taurus L station wagon, public records show.

• Lisa Heinzerling, senior climate policy counsel to the head of the EPA, owns a 1998 Subaru Legacy Outback station wagon, according to her husband.

• Diana Farrell, the deputy National Economic Council director, doesn't own a vehicle. Her husband, Scott Pearson, owns a 1985 Peugeot 505 S.

• Dan Utech, senior adviser to the Energy Secretary, owns a 2003 Mini Cooper S two-door hatchback.

• Rick Wade, a senior adviser at the Commerce Department, owns a 1998 Chevrolet Cavalier and previously owned a 1998 Toyota Corolla.

• Jared Bernstein, Vice President Joe Biden's chief economist, owns a 2005 Honda Odyssey.

The White House declined to comment.

President Barack Obama traded in his Chrysler 300C for a more fuel-efficient Ford Escape hybrid during the 2008 presidential campaign.

Joe Biden, the son of a car dealer, owns a 1967 Chevrolet Corvette -- a wedding present from his dad. He primarily commuted from Delaware to the Senate on Amtrak.

Ron Bloom, a special adviser to the Treasury Department who is also advising the task force, owns an aging Ford Taurus.

It would be unAmerican to buy an American car just because it's American.  Where's the incentive to improve and compete in the global marketplace then?  I've owned nothing but Toyotas since 1990.  I just bought a new Lexus and it wasn't even an option to buy one of those Detroit clunkers.

Most of the so called "foreign" cars are made in US now anyway. Just not in Detroit.Let GM go and someone will re-tool the plants and recalibrate the cost of doing business to compete. Bailout money might as well be flushed down the crapper until a new realistic business model is in place.

niggas wanna paste, we can paste?

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama has vowed to cut the country's budget deficit in half by the end of his first term. Obama laid out the guiding principle of his budget policy at a White House conference. He said he believes the time has come for "a frank conversation" about the problem and said the deficit, projected to total $1.3 trillion this year, must be brought under control.

Obama declared the country "cannot and will not sustain deficits like this without end."

He also said that he wants to reinstate a pay-as-you-go policy on federal spending programs, get rid of programs that do not work and end tax breaks for companies that ship jobs overseas.

Calling for fiscal restraint even while federal spending soars, Obama summoned allies, adversaries and outside experts to a White House summit Monday to address skyrocketing budget deficits and announced $15 billion in Medicaid money to states from his $787 billion economic stimulus package.

"As we take the steps that we must to get through the crisis we're in now, we will not lose sight of the long-term," Vice President Joe Biden said as he opened the event. Obama's No. 2 promised that the administration would be frank with the public about budget challenges, though he also said there was a need to reform the nation's health care system and wean the United States off heavy reliance on foreign oil.

The summit came one week after the president signed into law the gargantuan stimulus measure designed to stop the country's economic free fall and, ultimately, reverse the recession now months into its second year. The new law is certain to add to this fiscal year's deficit, which the administration projects will be $1.5 trillion.

Obama led the summit to address the nation's future financial health after meeting with Republican and Democratic governors who are poised to benefit from his unprecedented emergency spending-and-tax cut measure.

Ah, I guess I didn't read it carefully. I saw Geithner and Summers mentioned, but didn't make the connection . . . .

Well, I guess one could argue that even though the American automobile isn't their choice, they are moving to save the industry because it's the right thing to do, even if it's not what they would choose to buy.

I'm not poor, but I believe in helping the poor, even if it means my tax dollars are spent in the effort. Sure, some dirtbags will benefit, but maybe those dirtbags have children that will benefit.

Well I am happy to report that a couple of friends of mine that voted for Obama have lately been showing some real signs of buyer's remorse. I tried to tell them that the man was not anywhere near qualified to be president yet they would not listen to me at that time. They now are scared to death of where this man child is leading the nation, and for very good reason. I am wondering how many drones are actually starting to figure this out? Wall Street has been shitting the bed ever since he was the presumptive nominee, and it has gone down even further since he took office, down to a twelve year low today. Bush hasn't anything to do with this crap! No, this is all on the idiot that sits in the Oval Office now folks! He sucks!
