Wow. Usually I'm quite fond of pissing matches but this thread is getting too ugly even for me. Ironically, here in France, Sarkozy gets clobbered because he wasn't able to unite the country behind him the way Obama did. Ah, if only we knew...

You know you're right caro. This thread is getting uglier of late, and I take full responsibility for my end of that. The thing is that I can, and do, get along with just about anyone. Hell, I'd sit down Jizzy for cold beer even! I get along fine with BJ even though we are miles apart on our political views. He just seems like a nice guy though. However, when someone who claims to be a "true" conservative just drones on and on about Bush for the sole reason of trying to humiliate other posters, and myself in particular, I have to call the fuckhead out on that stuff. It goes beyond mean spirited. It's downright pussyfied in the extreme. Goober knows full well what he's doing, and more than a few have personally contacted me about his childish shit. Mind you he's been pulling this crap for years and years. He is like a puppy with a pillow. He just can't let it go. He must try and not just make his point, whatever that may be, but he must pound his point home with intent of undermining other posters. Again, this is more often than not directed at me in his typical snarky Goober-speak pussyfied way. Now I could give two flying fucks what this moron thinks about anything truth be told, but when he continues to claim that he's a "true" conservative and seemingly only attacks actual conservatives I find myself second guessing his honesty and his manhood. In other words, I think, nay I know, that he's a Goober! I haven't a problem with any other poster on this board. Even the liberals that I so often disagree with. As for Goober? I'm done with the punk.

Well, here's one view from NRO...

We Are All Fascists Now   [Michael Ledeen]

It's not surprising that Newsweek won't call the dramatic expansion of state power over the private sector by its proper name:  it's fascism, not socialism (which rests on the abolition of private property).  To be sure, the political consequences—loss of individual liberty, concentration of wealth and regulatory clout in the central government—are much the same, which is the main point.  Much more here, and more to come.  Much more.

Here's the whole article that Blue was alluding to Bucky, and yes, to answer your question. Obama is a a fascist. I am not claiming that he is planing on genocide, or concentration camps at all. I'm merely pointing out that what he is proposing is nothing more than old school fascism wrapped up in buzz words like "change" and "hope". Read the article I think that you'll agree with it's basic premises.

Goober? Is that you? We've been missing you here in the "true" conservative world! Hell son if I didn't know better I'd think that you had a hard on for Bush, Mormons, and Germans! I know that you being a "true" conservative would hate the destruction of the American way of life that our last great president George Walker Bush could never have dreamed of. We're no longer looking at socialism Goober we are looking at straight up fascism the likes that we haven't seen since 1936 Germany! What say you, Goober?

I'd say there is something wrong with if you think the U.S. resembles 1936 Germany, or that's its even possible for it to become that way.  I'm serious, you are probably mentally ill or something.  I don't know how you figure out where your socks are in the morning.

Riffhard wrote on Feb 14th, 2009 at 2:08am:
Fuck it, right? Let's just keep bitching about the guy that has zero power! You being a "true" conservative and all it makes sense to bitch about Bush! Obama gets a free pass from a "true" conservative like you.

WTF?  You've complained about Clinton for years.  Probably, in this very thread.  Look, I explained this to you before.  You look stupid inferring things from what people don't post.  It doesn't make any sense.  At the risk of explaining myself to a knothead like you and buying into your brand-new and one-sidedly applied idea that the effect of a presidency ends on the exact day they leave office, Obama doesn't get a free pass from me.  I don't like him, and didn't vote for him.  I also don't know much about him yet, because he's not interesting to me, and he's also been president for less than a month, so I haven't read much.  I'm busy at my job that you keep insulting.

Anyway, I'll post about the release of dozens of captured Al Quada terrorists by George Walker Bush III, and I'll post about his irresponsible, haphazard, deranged decision to restructure 100 years of U.S. economic policy into a big government socialist financial fiasco, because those issues are new, current, in effect, significant, and far-reaching.  If you weren't going bananas worrying about 1936 German Nazism, you'd agree.  If you were a conservative, you'd agree too.

See that tag line of mine by Dick Morris?  I actually chased that down that from one of the dozens of cut-and-paste jobs YOU did.  Do you at least understand what it says?  Now, see the quote above it by former president George Walker Bush III, dated September 2008?  That's what Morris is talking about.  That's happening right now, in the U.S.  Its signficant, massive, socialist, and it matters way more than whatever loaded headline happened to catch your eye on Drudge this morning.  Do you even get what George Walker Bush III did?  Do you understand the gravity and impact of, for example, forcing U.S. taxpayers to invest billions of dollars in an insurance company?  I don't think you do.  I don't think you understand any of this stuff.  Its either willful ignorance on your part, or lack of capacity, but you don't seem to even know the basics of the stuff you try to talk about.

Riffhard wrote on Feb 14th, 2009 at 2:08am:
After watching the last (and first) three weeks of the sheer idiocy from Barry, the likes of which this nation has not seen in over 200 plus hundred years, let me be the first say that I would take George Walker Bush for another 100 terms over this clueless moron! What say you Goober?!

I'd say I could care less.  I don't think you are a very bright person, and that's based on everything from your semi-literate posts, to your obviously copied ideas, to your inability to grasp concepts that you raise yourself (see the 10th amendment), to your absolutely staggering naivete about how American business and the country actually works.  Your exaggerations and lopsided doomsday prediction/wishes make no sense to me.  In fact, its DSM IV territory.  You decided to convince yourself that some endless parade of unidentified "liberals" and their impossible global conspiracies are out to kill your way of life, and then you and your whiny little homosexual buddy engage in some fucked up codependency martyr syndrome to make yourselves feel better about it.  Its surreal at times, and weird as hell.  That's what I'd also say.

Goob I must say that you are the stereotype upon which all lawyers are judged. Sad. That is hurtful to say, because I know some very smart lawyers. Some on this very board. You, sadly, are not among them. From this point forward I will consider you nothing more than a liberal pansy assed "social worker" with an unhealthy obsession about our last president, Germans, and Mormons. Feel good about that Goober. You are helping the intellectually challenged because you are their leader! Bravo!!

Goober there is no shame in being a state paid social worker.  Suck that Obama cock Goober! While you're at it make damned sure sure you point out our last president's failures while ignoring Barry's. You are such a "true" conservative!

PS-On a personal note-go fuck yourself.

If you say so, fathead.  Here, try your darndest not to read anything political into this, okay?  I'll take your $100 Obama bet.  You sure you can afford $100 with that girl's job?

Up the stakes, bud - I'll bet my next monthly paycheck/distribution against yours that Obama is two term president.  My guess is that gives you between 4:1 to 8:1 return odds.  You gotta take that action, its your bet after all.  If you don't take it, you'll look like a fucking pussy right here in front of your political friends.  Take the bet.  C'mon, I'll e-mail you my 2008 IRS K-1 Form, so you can see how much you stand to make.  There is some serious large green in there (#$,$$$.$$ - get it?).   Take the bet, pokey.

Obama is NOT a facist. Really quite an irresponsibly statement (and draconian as well). Bush was closer to facism, as far as idealogy is concerned. It was his administration that tried to suppress all criticism (Valery Plame is a good example of this), Rove was infamous for stating he is trying to create a perminate majority (I guess he didn't think that one through).

I think GWB is probably a decent guy, but very unimpressive as a leader. Low 'c' average in school, many failed business ventures (a few of these were bailed out with Saudi money), publicly stated his favorite philosopher is Jesus (but try to align his policies with that admission and one really has trouble). Ron Paul said it best ("he's playing a part").

President Obama actually is trying to get people involved with the political process, so that the influential voices aren't louder than the masses voices. He is extremely smart, and can understand the many sides to an argument (very unlike the last guy).

I watched a lot of campaigning when it started in Iowa, and was the most responsive to Michelle Obama. It was after that when I started looking closely at Barack. And the commentary by Barack's supporters was mostly informed and concise. Contrast that with the McCain/Palin supporters and I really felt there wasn't a choice after all. I mean really . . . Palin? Because they thought she was pretty? Yikes . . . (by the way, I never had a problem with the "bridge to nowhere" if it was needed. I had a problem with Palin lying about it though).

This huge spending plan is scarey to most, as it should be, but tax cuts and trickle down don't sound attractive to me. Everyone would like to see tax rates decrease (well, maybe Democrat Senators aren't ALL onboard with that statement), but right now our economy needs money to start circulating, and I like the idea of spending money on what America needs done.

Ok, well I managed to write this without directly insulting those with differing opinions, as rash as some have been.

Historian Observes Obama-Lincoln Parallels

Steve Grzanich Reporting

CHICAGO, ILL (WBBM Newsradio 780)  -- President Obama has often said that one of his heroes is Abraham Lincoln so it was no surprise when he returned to Illinois this past week to join the celebration of Honest Abe’s Bicentennial Birthday. Obama has made no secret of his admiration of Lincoln and often invokes the name and memory of our 16th president.  And that’s just one of many parallels between the presidents.

"There does seem to be this connection in Obama's heart and mind between the mentor that he would like to believe Lincoln is,” said Presidential Historian Doris Kearns Goodwin. “And you cannot have a better mentor."

Obama kicked off his presidential campaign two years ago at the Old State Capitol in Springfield where Mr. Lincoln gave his famous "House Divided" speech. When he took the oath of office last month, he put his hand on the same Bible Abraham Lincoln used for his swearing in.

Some people think he’s overdoing the symbolism but not historian Goodwin. She thinks the president feels a genuine connection to Lincoln and says Obama isn’t the first commander in chief to look to Lincoln for guidance.

“When FDR was trying to do at a certain point he went back to Lincoln. When Teddy Roosevelt was trying to figure out what to do about labor strife, he went back to Lincoln and when Truman was trying to figure out what to do about firing MacArthur, he went back to Lincoln,” said Goodwin.

In her book “Team of Rivals – The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln,” Goodwin describes how Lincoln made the decision to appoint to his cabinet several of his chief opponents. Taking a page from history, Obama has brought republicans into his administration.

"What he understood was if he could put these people into his cabinet, they represented conservatives, radicals, moderates — the strongest people in the country," Kearns said. "That takes enormous internal confidence and I think that’s what Mr. Obama has done as well is to recognize that we have so much to deal with, including the economic crisis and the wars abroad, that he doesn’t want to allow personal feelings or any of kind of past problems in terms of rivalrous relationships to prevent him from putting the people he wants in his cabinet.”

Goodwin says Obama is a fan of her book and referenced “Team of Rivals” during the campaign for president. She thinks its great that that Obama has chosen Lincoln as a mentor and applauds the president for being a student of history.

"I think the fact that he has embraced Lincoln is only a good thing. It means he's got a mentor," Goodwin said. "Whenever a president looks back on history, it means they don't have to start all over again."

The “Team of Rivals” worked for Lincoln and Goodwin says it should work for Obama too as he works to get the country back on track.

"I think the main thing that [Lincoln] would do would be to assure Obama that he had been through difficult times before and that somehow this country has the strength to get through these difficult moments," said Goodwin. "He would probably tell him that he has to keep a continuing conversation with the American people. That's what Lincoln did so well during his presidency."

On Thursday, the 44th president returned to the city where he and Abraham Lincoln launched their national political careers and where they both first served Illinois. Mr. Obama gave the keynote speech at a dinner in Springfield honoring Abe’s Bicentennial Birthday telling the audience the lessons taught by the Great Emancipator still apply today during this time of economic turmoil and political change.

"He recognized that while each of us must do our part, work as hard as we can and be as responsible as we can—in the end, there are certain things we cannot do on our own," Obama said. "There are certain things we can only do together. There are certain things only a union can do."

This is from CNN & isn't meant to be funny...

WILLIAMSBURG, VIRGINIA (CNN) – President Barack Obama got to experience another first in his nascent presidential career Thursday: a ride on Air Force One as commander-in-chief.

Watch: Pres. Obama takes first flight

Donning a blue jacket with the presidential seal on the right and his name embroidered on the left, President Obama came back to the press section of the plane shortly before taking off for a trip to Williamsburg, Virginia where the House Democrats are meeting.

"Hey guys, what do you think of my — this spiffy ride here?” the president asked the group of reporters traveling with him on the presidential plane.

Obama had previously been a guest on Air Force One when his predecessor, former President George W. Bush, was in office — but Thursday’s ride was his first as commander-in-chief, and his ride on Marine One seemed to leave him impressed.

"It's spectacular,” Obama said. “You go right over the Washington Monument, and then you kind of curve in by the Capitol. It was spectacular."

Week 4

Despite dire predictions from Obama that the country would enter a second Great Depression unless that chunk of shit bill were passed, and despite the fact that congress passed it and it sits on his desk (pretty much unread), where is our "leader"

...

In Chicago, taking the weekend off (it is Presidents' Day you know), playing some pickup in the hood.

At least when he was in Congress, he voted "Present"

This time, he was absent on the writing of the bill, absent on leadership in getting the bill passed, absent on providing anyone with the details -- he left that to the dawrf, who also was absent.

What a fraud!

Haha!  Are you fucking for real with this stuff?  "second guessing manhood" in the same post you brag about backchanneling with some flit about my internet posts?  What the fuck do you fairies do all day?

Heavens to Betsy, I'll be gosh damned.  And here I thought I heard that private message board for creepy e-pussies was shuttered years ago.  Ain't that something.

You're still pissed off about the 10th Amendment, aren't you?  I've never directed anything at you, except when you went fishing for it first.  I can't help it if you crib all your ideas from guys on Youtube who sell oregano.  You should have tried to read up on it first, before you came in here pounding the table like you know what you are talking about, you fucking retard.

LOL! This is just too fucking rich! Let me start by saying that I was 100% right about the 10th Amendment issue, as I was referring to an article that Mark Levin wrote about the video in question. He raised the exact issue that I had made. I would link it, but frankly you're not worth the time that it would take to track down. You'll forgive me if I find the president and founder of the Landmark Legal Foundation, author of Men In Black (How the Supreme Court is Destroying America), and former Chief Of Staff to Edwin Meese to be imminently more qualified than you to make the case on this issue! I made it abundantly clear that that while some lawyers could very well get around the 10th, it was the spirit of the 10th Amendment that the idiot Rangal and Mark Reich were trampling upon. Levin would eat you up and spit you out on this topic. You being a "true" conservative should have agreed with me on this point. You didn't though. Strange. How very liberal of you!

Secondly let me just say that while you can try and play this crap about "creepy e-mails" or whatever such BS. I can only assume that you are referring to the infamous back channel horseshit? I was never a part of that crap Goober. The fact is that I have made some very real friends on these boards, not just cyber friends, and yes, more than a few of them have commented on your constant "Bush Geek" crap that was designed for the sole reason of trying to humiliate others, and no doubt, me in particular. I don't say anything to anyone on these boards that I wouldn't say to their faces. I try and keep things as civil as possible most times. Can it ever get out of hand? Sure sometimes, but that is never my intent.

However, your constant harping on and on about this meaningless "Bush Geek" shit is obviously an attempt to try and impress your little coffee klatch of like minded people, and get under my skin. Guess what? You've succeeded! You're a nudge as my 87 year old grandmother used to say. You go out of your way to try and insult people. It is for this reason that I have to question your manhood. I question it for one reason alone. Because I think that you are a perfect example of someone who displays "Internet muscles". I have met you before back at YOTI 12 years ago. You just melted into the crowd with hardly a word spoken. I have a tough time believing that you would be so bold as to accuse me of being any kind of geek in person. In fact I highly doubt that you would even consider saying that kind of shit to my face. If you did I can guarantee that it would be the last time that you did. I mean you and your "Bush Geek" crap goes back for well over two years now. Can you make that argument about me? Have I tried and humiliate you for two years or more? No. Hell no in fact. I'm not an asshole like you are. I don't try and embarrass people just for shits and giggles. I would happily call you an asshole to your face and tempt you to try and shut me up. You have earned that right. You, and only you, brought this on! I have even tried to be your friend on past occassions. You just turned your back on that for some reason that I can't quite comprehend. Why? Because you disagreed with me about something? Seems crazy to me.

So while you have found some people on this thread that seem to think that you have "owned" me! Or "schooled" me. Or "Put me to bed without supper". Please take note that every single one of them, to a man or woman, is just like you! Mainly a liberal! Is it any wonder that they'd love to believe this horseshit?! You haven't owned, schooled, or put anyone to bed tough guy! Instead of just trying to impress your little circle of cheerleaders, why don't you take a look at the way that you have gone out of your way to alienate yourself from people that used to consider you a friend. You'll just have to trust me when I tell you that the list is longer than you know. And this ain't got shit to do with any back channel bullshit either! It has everything to do with the fact that you just flat out come across as a prick and people have just stopped trying to engage you in any kind of conversation because of it.

You want this shit to end? Then stop being an asshole! Stop with the constant Bush Geek shit. Stop deliberately trying to insult and humiliate! When I engage in a political argument I try and keep the personal shit out of it. On occasion I go overbboard. Everyone does! It comes with the territory. When I do I readily admit that I was out of line. I also try and impress upon people that I would gladly sit down with them and drink some cold beers. Hell, I'd even buy the first round! You, on the other hand, come across as a person that gets more pleasure out of trying to insult with stupid Goober-speak, or the veiled references aimed at certain posters, mostly me. You have zero regard for keeping the personal insults out of things. You roll in them like a dog will roll in shit.
