I don't think the administrators have put you in charge of enforcing any ideological litmus test for participation on this board.  There are plenty of reactionary wingnut boards out there if you only want to communicate with people who agree with you.

Gregg stated, “I want to thank the President for nominating me to serve in his Cabinet as Secretary of Commerce.  This was a great honor, and I had felt that I could bring some views and ideas that would assist him in governing during this difficult time. I especially admire his willingness to reach across the aisle.

“However, it has become apparent during this process that this will not work for me as I have found that on issues such as the stimulus package and the Census there are irresolvable conflicts for me.  Prior to accepting this post, we had discussed these and other potential differences, but unfortunately we did not adequately focus on these concerns.  We are functioning from a different set of views on many critical items of policy.

“Obviously the President requires a team that is fully supportive of all his initiatives.

“I greatly admire President Obama and know our country will benefit from his leadership, but at this time I must withdraw my name from consideration for this position.

“As we move forward, I expect there will be many issues and initiatives where I can and will work to assure the success of the President’s proposals.  This will certainly be a goal of mine.

“Kathy and I also want to specifically thank Governor Lynch and Bonnie Newman for their friendship and assistance during this period.  In addition we wish to thank all the people, especially in New Hampshire, who have been so kind and generous in their supportive comments.

“As a further matter of clarification, nothing about the vetting process played any role in this decision.  I will continue to represent the people of New Hampshire in the United States Senate.”

About half-way through President Obama's press conference Monday night, he had an unscripted question of his own. "All, Chuck Todd," the President said, referring to NBC's White House correspondent. "Where's Chuck?" He had the same strange question about Fox News's Major Garrett: "Where's Major?"

The problem wasn't the lighting in the East Room. The President was running down a list of reporters preselected to ask questions. The White House had decided in advance who would be allowed to question the President and who was left out.

Presidents are free to conduct press conferences however they like, but the decision to preselect questioners is an odd one, especially for a White House famously pledged to openness. We doubt that President Bush, who was notorious for being parsimonious with follow-ups, would have gotten away with prescreening his interlocutors. Mr. Obama can more than handle his own, so our guess is that this is an attempt to discipline reporters who aren't White House favorites.

Few accounts of Monday night's event even mentioned the curious fact that the White House had picked its speakers in advance. We hope that omission wasn't out of fear of being left off the list the next time.

Most people can spread their focus. Having pre-screened questions at a press conference makes it sound like Obalama ain't ready for prime time - er ah, never mind...

This bill and the whole process surrounding it's passage is a disaster! It checks in at over 500 pages and the Dems just drop this massive turd last night and expect everyone to be cool with it! They are going to pay a very dear price for this steamroller attitude. Say what you want to about Bush, but at least he really did take a true bipartisan approach to governing. The Dems are acting like spoiled rotten punks, and a lot of people are taking notice of this shit and a price will be paid. If I were Barney Frank or Chris Dodd I'd be very afraid of what's going to happen to them when the Republicans get the power back. I have personally called Mitch McConnell's office and demanded that they investigate these two crooks. The lady at the office told me that they have received well over a thousand like minded calls. I say fuck 'em! Your time is gonna come Dems! And the price is going to be high! Very high!

We're receiving E-mails from Capitol Hill staffers expressing frustration that they can't get a copy of the stimulus bill agreed to last night at a price of $789 billion. What's more, staffers are complaining about who does have a copy: K Street lobbyists. E-mails one key Democratic staffer: "K Street has the bill, or chunks of it, already, and the congressional offices don't. So, the Hill is getting calls from the press (because it's leaking out) asking us to confirm or talk about what we know—but we can't do that because we haven't seen the bill. Anyway, peeps up here are sort of a combo of confused and like, 'Is this really happening?'" Reporters pressing for details, meanwhile, are getting different numbers from different offices, especially when seeking the details of specific programs.

Worse, there seem to be several different versions of what was agreed upon, with some officials circulating older versions of the package that seems to still be developing. Leadership aides said that it will work out later today and promised that lawmakers will get time to review the bill before Friday's vote.

All I know is that from just lurking from time to time it seems that the entire board is of one mind when it comes to opinions. All you have to do is open any thread with the word Bush, neocons, Republicans, etc. and the next 50 posts are just cheerleading to the choir. It's just a huge liberal circle-jerk. It's actually kinda funny to see the Borg-like assimilation that has happened at that board.

Jizzy says that there are only three or four conservative posters here. He couldn't be more wrong! There are many conservative posters here. Most just don't want to get down in the mud with liberals and sling the shit. I get plenty of e-mails from posters here who choose to remain anonymous that couldn't agree with me more about the state of affairs under Comrade Obama. Not so over at Keno's. It's one mind all the time over there. At least that's what I have witnessed. That dosn't mean that there aren't some nice folks over there, but I know damned good and well how they'd treat someone that called them out on their shit. It wouldn't go over well, and the moderator would be leading the charge!

Everyone is entitiled to their own views, I'm sure this is agreed.
This administration is what it is.
They do seem to have more fumbles out of the gate.
Vetting seems to be an issue, for as much as they pillared
Sarah Palin, the gaffs of vetting, as well as making certain the
people chosen are all towing the same line (Judd Gregg) they are
as my grandfather would say "wet behind the ears".
Sure, someone will come along to defend what they are doing,
however, I ask you, as I asked back when I complained Obama
had no experience, and I would not hire him to be the CEO of a
multi trillion dollar company......

Would you hire a guy who could not adequately determine background
information on the people he's hiring?
