From NBC's Pete Williams
The recitation of the presidential oath came in fits and starts.

The Constitution prescribes the text: "I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States and will to best of my ability preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States."

But Chief Justice John Roberts, using no notes, flubbed his lines, and Obama knew it.

First, Obama jumped in before the "do solemnly swear" phrase, which seemed to throw the chief justice off his stride. Roberts rendered the next phrase as "that I will execute the office of President to the United States faithfully."

"That I will execute," Obama repeated, then paused like a school teacher prompting his student with a slight nod. Roberts took another shot at it: "The off ... faithfully the pres ... the office of President of the United States."

The oath then got more or less back on track after that. Close enough for government work.

NBC's Abby Livingston adds the transcript:
ROBERTS: I, Barack Hussein Obama...
OBAMA: I, Barack...
ROBERTS: ... do solemnly swear...
OBAMA: I, Barack Hussein Obama, do solemnly swear...
ROBERTS: ... that I will execute the office of president to the United States faithfully...
OBAMA: ... that I will execute...
ROBERTS: ... faithfully the office of president of the United States...
OBAMA: ... the office of president of the United States faithfully...
ROBERTS: ... and will to the best of my ability...
OBAMA: ... and will to the best of my ability...
ROBERTS: ... preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.
OBAMA: ... preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.
ROBERTS: So help you God?
OBAMA: So help me God.
ROBERTS: Congratulations, Mr. President. "

That's one option, though if one of my preteen daughters tried to rationalize that sort of behavior on the grounds that her sister did it first, it would earn a stern rebuke from me.  Another option is to remember the right's treatment of Bill Clinton, call it even, grow up and do something to help this country move forward.

Coming from Canada, I've never seen a president get this much attention in my life & I'm 55, I don't think Kennedy got this much attention! it's amazing, & Canada is Obama-mania, I haven't seen this since The Beatles!! I really like the guy, he's young & smart & ready to take on the job, like a comedian said after 7 Balls of partying, he better not have a hang-over the next morning, because that's when he start's his new job.

Check this out.  ]I'M ON FRONTLINE!!!  The episode is Dreams of Obama, which aired tonight on PBS.  I appear in Section 3:  "Honing His Political Skills."  I appear at 0:40 wearing an Aussie hat and holding a sign that says "Reflect Reality."  I'm also visible from 1:15-1:20 behind Professor Bell.  STONES CONTENT:  I played harmonica with a guitar player at the start of the demonstration (Spring 1990); we played "You Can't Always Get What You Want."

In a speech on March 13, 2003 Senator Roberty Byrd stated:
"If the United States leads the charge to war in the Persian Gulf, we may get lucky and achieve a rapid victory. But then we will face a second war: a war to win the peace in Iraq. This war will last many years and will surely cost hundreds of billions of dollars. In light of this enormous task, it would be a great mistake to expect that this will be a replay of the 1991 war. The stakes are much higher in this conflict."
On March 19, 2003, when Bush ordered the invasion after receiving U.S. Congress approval, Byrd stated:
"Today I weep for my country. I have watched the events of recent months with a heavy, heavy heart. No more is the image of America one of strong, yet benevolent peacekeeper. The image of America has changed. Around the globe, our friends mistrust us, our word is disputed, our intentions are questioned. Instead of reasoning with those with whom we disagree, we demand obedience or threaten recrimination."

Both the senator and I are glad THAT shit's over!

Obama appears to be significantly more interested in Christianity than George Walker Bush III was/is, which creates even more problems for the Bush Geeks going forward.  Thine rod is my staff, ya dopey ass subrogates.  Shades of Exodus.  Shades of Jah people.

Why don't you blow him Moonie? Sure you'll have to get in line, but hell all the other RINOS are buying into his shit you might as well get in line. Sounds like you already have. I mean I understand that the golden Obama calf has already been commissioned.

60 former GITMO detainees have already been released and recaptured in the act of killing Americans since the liberals forced Bush's hand. Now Barry has already laid the ground work for the remaining detainees to come to the USA and help indoctrinate our federal prison system!! Hail Obama!
