Barack sat down for dinner with Charles Krauthammer, David Brooks, William Kristol and George Will at Will's home. Pat Buchanan described the gesture in two words:  "class act."  The braying reactionary detractors on this board and elsewhere had better be prepared to be out-classed for the next 8 years.

Barack has written a wonderful open letter to his daughters.  As the father of two girls just a little older than Sasha and Malia, his words have special meaning to me, as I am sure they will to all parents.  Those on this board who should really read this letter probably won't, but I hope the rest of you will benefit from another glimpse into the soul of this truly great man.

Pelosi has requested a "new stimulus" package to the tune of 850 billion!!

Barry wants our kids and grand kids money sooooo bad he can taste it! Republicans have basically told Stretch Pelosi to go fuck herself as well they should! Boehner saw the proposal and just said three words--"Oh my god!" How dare these fucks try and steal our money to prop up their insane socialist agenda! We are fucked people! FUCKED!!!! How dare these fucks try this shit!!!!

Bush moronically agreed to the first round of bailouts, but Barry is gonna make him look like punter!

Oh, and Moonie, shut the fuck up about Bush Geeks you know nothing twit! The only thing that I ever said that Bush did right was protect the country from further attack. He has done a great job at that, and I have it on first hand authority that literally hundreds of attacks were prevented because of actions that he took. I have ALWAYS slammed his drunken sailor type spending!! Always!!! So blow me!

McCain sucked as a candidate because, as any real conservative knows, he is not, and never has been a conservative. Only some McCainiac idiots think otherwise!!! He has a few issues that I agree with, but he is the exact wrong answer for the Republican party! He lost because he was weak on issues that true conservatives care about. He is weak on the border issue. He sucks on GITMO. He panders to the most liberal of Dems. Which is the majority of them these days. He sucked! Got it Moonie!? He sucked! Because of that asshat we'll all be piss poor soon enough!

I don't get it at all. The economy is in the tank because of the idiocy of shitheads like Barney Frank and Chris Dodd and their sheer stupidity/greediness with Fannie and Freddie, and now these same fucking clowns are gonna help spend us back to prosperity! Idiots! Oh, and let's not forget that Barrack Obama made more money from Fannie and Freddie than did any other congress member save Chris Dodd and Barney Frank! Shockingly the media decided that that FACT was not an important factor! Certainly it wasn't as important as Palin's clothing!!

Aw hell, this is funny...

She hasn’t shown up for work very regularly over the last year or so, so when Michelle Obama’s $300,000 job was cut at the University of Chicago Hospitals, it may have been hard to notice the difference.  Crain’s skipped the part about the incoming First Lady, must have been an oversight in their expert analysis of Chicago Business, because we know Crain’s is “Not show business. All business”.

The Tribune announced the layoff without much analysis, but let the cat far enough out of the bag to prompt our Don Rose to question how important Michelle Obama’s job must have been, as it was so easily eliminated.  The New Republic gnashes their dentures at the how a community can be served without Michelle Obama, despite the void of actual labor she has performed while being on the campaign trail.  The comments are much more informative than the article in TNR.

The Washington Post smells a rat, with a critical article of a lawyer from U of C hospitals, who worked with Michelle Obama in implementing a rationalization of emergency healthcare delivery.  The lawyer, Susan Sher, had the nerve to co-operate with President Bush and the Federal Government’s initiatives to deliver emergency care in the emergency room, and everyday care in health clinics.  No word on the Michelle’s level of co-operation with the Bush administration at her executive position.

The Univesity of Chicago Press Room continues to impress with stories about blood cancer therapies and a Webcast of innovative cardiac surgery, but is tight lipped about layoffs effecting the First Lady and 15 other senior executives.

Apparently Oblama is spending time with the recently indicted Mayor of Baltimore right before the Inauguration. Change sure seems a bit corrupt, yet AGAIN.

Ted Nugent wants to be Obama's Drug Czar

Stephen C. Webster
Published: Thursday January 15, 2009
Rawstory

What a difference 17 months can make.

Ted Nugent, the self-proclaimed "rock legend" who said during an August 2007 concert (as he was holding two assault rifles), "Obama, he's a piece of shit, and I told him to suck on my machine gun," seems to have had a change of heart.

Now he wants a job. And not just any job, but the job of Drug Czar.

RAW STORY apologizes for the level of absurdity portions of this story reach. Something tells us that when Obama promised "change that we can believe in," he couldn't has possibly imagined this.

But Ted seems convinced.

"[Drug traffickers] are as evil an adversary as the voodoo terrorist Taliban our soldiers face in Afghanistan," writes Nugent in a Thursday editorial.

An avid hunter, Nugent has been politically active as an opponent of gun control laws and he is a board member of the National Rifle Association. He has considered trying to take his political activism all the way to the Governor's Mansion in his native Michigan.

"That would be beautiful," Nugent said when asked by Reuters if he would run for governor in 2010. "I have threatened to do so and I was sincere."

In today's America, the Terminator can be elected Governor of California, a conspiratorial wrestler can become Governor of Minnesota, a variety show comedian appears the likely winner of a US Senate race, and the President-elect is actually offering the job of Surgeon General to a television doctor.

Even in this context, Nugent's latest appeal appears almost rhetorical.

"Call me, President Obama," writes Nugent. "Hippies, dope heads, corrupt politicos and various other human debris hate me, which makes me the perfect man for the job."

"Our inner cities will remain war zones until we commit to taking the trash out," said Nugent in his polemic's most cringe-inducing line.

"[A]s America's Drug Czar, I would put a big hurt on the drug kingpins and consumers like they have never seen," concludes Nugent. "Every American who smokes dope, manufactures, buys or sells meth or uses any illegal drugs is aiding and abetting the enemies of America. Case closed. This spiritual inbreeding and cannibalism must be identified, admitted to and stopped immediately. America can, and must do this."

Your move, President-elect Obama.

Cuidado, senor pinche chingao.  I know this is an emotional evening for you, with farewells and all, but there is no need to get uppity just because you backed the wrong fish for eons longer than anyone else.  And there is certainly no need to be disparaging a great American like John McCain.  Completely unacceptable behavior on your part, and it will not be tolerated any further, sir.  Let me remind you that when his country needed him most, John McCain was there and gave more than most can even imagine, while the "conservative" you were magooing about was dodging the draft in France telling anyone who would listen his demented fairy tales about intergalactic space zorks, lost cities, polygafucking, gigantic golden angels with Victorian dialects, etc.  Where's your goddam messiah now, Riffmash?  Goofballs......

You got the sunny part right.  I'm guessing it'll be a little warmer than the predicted 30 degrees.  With 2 million people, it's bound to heat up.  But have you stopped to consider the sort of assumptions you're making in holding to your contrarian position?  79% of the country are Kool-Aid drinking dupes?  Warren Buffett supported a Marxist candidate?  You really are making yourself look silly.

Such a pompous ass he is.
Strap in for the next year of palaber.

Other lowlights from yesterday....
Garth Brooks to sing Shout?
Not correctly miking Pete Seeger

Watching this made me think where were more of folks like:

Smokey Robinson
Al Green
Solomon Burke
Aretha

Usher?
Will I Am?
Spare me.

The bit with the eagle was awkward.

Highlights:

Mellencamp was great, as was The Boss
Stevie Wonder should have been let to sing on his own,
as well sing Happy Birthday dedicated to MLK
The duet of Bettye Levette & Bon Jovi was ok
Beyonce was tolerable, however, Aretha in that role would have been aces.
You do miss how Ray Charles could have been part of this...
