m_m the soda tax will affect everyone not just the obese! Hey here's an idea. Let's make damned sure that people pay their own insurance costs! Give them a tax break and perhaps they can afford it!

Have you heard about Barry's plan to tax dairy farmers and ranchers to the tune of $150.00-$200.00 per head of cattle?! Yes he can! Errrr,....yes he will! His tax is for the "greater good" dontcha know! It will be a "methane tax" for the harm that cow farts have on the environment! Yes Barry is planning on taxing private farmers and ranchers for cow farts! The estimation from the American Cattle Ranchers Assoc. is that upward of 90% of all private dairy farmers and ranchers will be forced out of business! Bravo Barry! Oh, and don't even get me started on his asinine Global Poverty Act!

Grab your knees folks! We have got a true believer in office now! A hard left ideologue without a clue as to how the real world works! We are fucked!

52% of the American electorate is economically illiterate and voted for a goddamned bumpersticker called hope and change! Give yourselves a pat on the back!

That's the shame of it, Riffy. We have a bunch of illiterates who voted based on an image & what will.i.am sang & now those of us who care about this country have to watch it undergo further destruction. Obama is already caught in his his first scandal & he hasn't even taken office yet!

The soda tax will affect everone that drinks sugared soft drinks. That's a choice. People can choose to drink what they want. As for the health insurance do you have a policy you bought on your own or through your employer? I'm guessing that you are referring to McCains plan of a tax break to purchase your own insurance. The dirty little secret is that that it's MUCH easier to deny health insurance to an individual than to an employer negotiating on behalf of their employees.
As far as Obama he hasn't taken office and any proposal needs to be approved by the legislative branch. Neither has happened yet. I'd be interested in any propsals you have to pay off our skyrocketing debt accrued under GW. Obama's cabinet appointments have been running very much on the conservative Democrat side rather than the far left shift you have been chicken-littling. The hard left you are referring to doesn't seem to be happening.

The nat'l security ones have been more to the right than expected but the domestic ones have been reliably leftist. I can't wait until they start trying to push thier wacky ideas on the public.

You see not all of us are Attorneys, BJ.
Some of us BARELY make it from paycheck to paycheck as it stands NOW.
Add up all of these so called "small hikes" and many of us may need to look for second jobs, IF we can find one in this horrible economy.

The working middle class is fucked and the outlook is bleak.

And do you HONESTLY think Pres Obama is going to be able to CUT taxes???
NO WAY.

LJ.

Please do not assume that because I am a lawyer, I am doing well financially.  I am not JB.  You may have noticed that, while I have boasted about my excellent education a few times, I am not in the habit of bragging about my money and all the expensive toys I'm buying.  There may be a reason for that.  I have already described my humble origins (which inspired our friend Fiji Joe to call me trailer trash or something to that effect).  I could go into detail about my current financial difficulties, but why give your dear friend and erstwhile chaffeur Glencar another excuse to call me a loser?  Let's just say that the stack of unpaid bills on my desk is not shrinking (though hope is in sight, thanks to my wife's new graveyard shift job).

That being said, I'm not sure howe a small increase in taxes on taxi and limo rides, Knicks tickets, manicures, pedicures, massages, gym memberships, or music downloads hurts the working poor.  The beer tax is another matter altogether.  Thank goodness one can get decent beer at Costco for a buck a bottle!

I would be very interested to know the comparative educational levels of Obama and McCain voters.  I doubt that it would reflect glencar's opinion.  Let's start by comparing two voters selected at random:  say, Nobel Prize winning economist Paul Krugman vs. Joe the Plumber.

And if you think Barack "is already caught in his his [sic] first scandal" (presumably you're you're referring to Blagogate), you you need to get another news source besides Fox Noise.

The fact that you are incapable of seeing HOWE these small increases hurts the working poor speaks volumes to your understanding, or the lack thereof, of the plight of many of us!

You are lucky to have a partner to help you BJ.
I face this alone.
No Spouse, Sugar Daddy, Significant Other, Sibling, Parent or child to help carry the load. I realize I'm not the only one in this position but it's kinda new to me and it's more frightening than I ever imagined.
I live in fear daily that ONE fall, ONE minor car accident, ONE more straw broken will leave me homeless.

And I think it is classless of you, which is out of character, to drag the names of other posters into a reply to a post that I directed towards YOU and YOU ONLY.

At least we agree to wish Keith Richards a happy 65th Birthday. That, somehow, gives me a little sense of hope! Keith Richards is 65 years young!!!!!!! Keith! 65! Definitely a sign of hope.

And you wonder why any poster might be tempted to call you a loser?!? Joe the Plumber certainly seems more RATIONAL than Nutzo Krugman. And at least Joe the Plumber asked a pertinent question during the Prez campaign which is more than the boys at NEWSWEEK did. BTW I noticed with glee that after I canceled Newsweek that the mag is downsizing & laying off some piss poor writers. Elections have consequences, indeed!

I know you're just kidding but after recent unpleasant emails, I'd prefer that you eliminate any personal references to me. And to add to what LJ said, these tax increases will hit the poor/working class extra hard. When George H. W. Bush raised taxes on yacht purchases, it devastated the yacht-building industry. The ones who got hurt were the workers on those yachts. AGAIN, IT'S HARD TO SUPPORT ANYONE WHO RAISES TAXES IN A RECESSION, GABEESH?

Munchausen!

Everyone chasing down this Madoff guy (he is Semitic/Jewish), but this freaking muffball George Walker Bush III guy (he is caucasian, low intelligence) has been running a multi-trillion ($$,$$$,$$$,$$$,$$$.$$) Ponzi/Poncey scheme since he took office.

And to be fair, the coolest thing I ever saw George Walker Bush III do was dodge that terrorist's shoes and socks.  I think its the only cool thing I ever saw him do.  For there is no such thing, nor will there ever be, as a Bush Geekian Cool List.

Shoe throwing is a growing trend now! At a township meeting in Hoboken a random person threw a shoe because they raised homeowner's taxes by 47% and it was frustrating! I kinda like this trend! If everyone would just throw a shoe everytime there is a problem, it would be funny as hell! Someone should invent a special shoe, just made to be thrown, so you dont ruin a good pair!!  So long sucker

Hell hath froze over! Yes indeed the bailout is a joke. Anyone that supports this bailout is being fiscally inept! And yes, that includes Bush and a slew of Rinos. This is NOT a bailout for the poor workers. No, it is rather a bailout for a massive union with strong ties to one particular political party. Would these Democrats that are so in favor of a bailout of the UAW be nearly as kindhearted for the poor oil workers should ExxonMobil need a bailout? I wonder how many people are aware of the fact that the UAW tried(unsuccessfully thank god!) to get all of their employees pet insurance!!!! That's right, pet insurance!!! Now the morons in DC want people who make less than 20 bucks an hour to bailout a union which sees the average member making between 70-80 grand a year? Fuck that!

Once Barry gets in office we're all screwed anyway. He's going to make Bush look like an amateur when it comes to socializing industry.

A huge "I told ya so" is coming down the pike folks. A HUGE one!
