Bullshit.  Somebody has to do the autopsy.   Who better than you?  I expect a full report by next Monday.

I just went to pages one and two. Can't stomach it. Sorry. Does anything actually interesting happen?

But LJ, lets review what's happened since the election.....

Bama has made some decent appointments
Several celebrities are in play for senatorial replacements
around the country.
One big possible scandal in Chicago, which could take one
or more of Bama's appointments down with it in a who knew what when situation.
Meanwhile, McCain has maintained his posture, by being
non comittal about who he may support going forward, yet
pleading for support for Obama.
The outgoing president visits a country which was freed from
30 years of tyranny from Saddam Hussien, only to have shoes
thrown at him.

Sounds like another day at Rocks Off!

The reviews are pretty good.

Look, you can read Moby Dick or you can not read Moby Dick, but it's still gonna be Moby Dick.

But I don't know I could scale this baby if I didn't read the serial edition either.

Yes Nelly.
Had I known I was going to see, essentially, Clinton Part Deux, I would have suppored Obama all the way.

And what the hell qualifies "Princess" Caroline Kennedy to represent ME and the other fine citizens of New York State?
Tell me what SHE knows about the problems facing Western and Upstate New York.

Gov Patterson would be much better suited selecting ME to replace Sen Clinton!!
At least RO would get front row tickets to any future Stones shows at MSG.

Gov. Patterson's new power(liberty)/money grab.

* An "iTunes tax" of 4 percent on videos, music or pictures downloaded from the Internet.

* A 4 percent tax on taxi, limo and bus rides. That means a $10 cab ride would cost 40 cents more.

* A 4 percent entertainment tax on tickets to movies, concerts and sporting events. That would add nearly 50 cents to a $12 movie ticket or $1.80 to the cheapest $44.50 seat at a Knicks game.

* The tax on beer increases 24 cents per gallon, or more than double the current rate, which means about 30 cents a case.

* An 18 percent tax on nondiet soft drinks, which aims to reduce child obesity. A $1.50 can of Pepsi would then cost at least 25 cents more.

* A 4 percent tax on cable TV and satellite services, raising a $100 bill by $4.

* Hiking the cost of "personal" services - including haircuts, manicures, pedicures, massages and gym memberships - by 4 percent.

* A 4 percent sales tax on clothing and shoes under $500, except for two weeks out of the year.

* Elimination of the law that caps the state sales tax on gasoline at 8 cents per gallon.

* Boosting the average vehicle registration fee for drivers by $11, from $44 to $55. Fees for new or renewed licenses also would increase 25 percent, or increase from $50 to about $62 to renew a license over eight years.

In addition, all drivers would have to get new, "reflectorized" license plates at a fee of $25 each.

OMG!  An extra 40 cents for a cab ride???  Outrageous!

Damn right he is.
You see not all of us are Attorneys, BJ.
Some of us BARELY make it from paycheck to paycheck as it stands NOW.
Add up all of these so called "small hikes" and many of us may need to look for second jobs, IF we can find one in this horrible economy.

The working middle class is fucked and the outlook is bleak.

And do you HONESTLY think Pres Obama is going to be able to CUT taxes???
NO WAY.

LJ.

Only a liberal mindset can see the largest tax increase in NYC history and scoff at those that are bitching about it! This is how liberals help the poor! Make them poorer and more dependant on Big Daddy Government to bail them out. Sounds like a great plan! I'm sure businesses are just lining up to do business in NYC now! NO GOVERNMENT EVER TAXED IT'S WAY INTO PROSPERITY!!! Quite the opposite in fact. Notice that Patterson's plan doesn't lower government spending at all. He increases spending while at the same time slashing programs and raising taxes! It's a liberal Utopia! Fuck the rich! Make them pay an extra quater for regular Pepsi! That'll teach 'em!

More "non-biased attitude" from the MSM?

Time editor Richard Stengel appeared on the Today show this morning to announce the magazine's decision to name Barack Obama person of the year.  Everybody seemed to think it was a pretty obvious call, but Stengel explained that Time considered other choices:

We thought about possibly giving it to the American voter for electing Barack Obama, for the economy, for tipping the scales in his favor.  But ultimately, he is the quintessential person of the year.

No one likes piddly little lifestyle taxes. The morbidly obese do tax the healthcare system with their additional need for health care. Why not tax their lifestyle? How do you propose to make up the shortfall in rough economic times? Cut police and firefighter positions? No government ever spent their way into prosperity on credit either! LOL Well, I'm not sure prison rape is what he's due. I hate that the idiots who lost all that money will get TARP money now. As for taxing soda, we already pay 5 cents per bottle which only gets refunded if you take it to a bottle recycling center. And would it kill Patterson to cut back on spending? NY State spending has doubled over the past decade & a half. Surely they could cut back somewhere.  Raising taxes in a recession is a dumb move. I can't wait to get the hell outta Dodge!

Until I got to the last line, I was mildly excited...

Everybody's looking for a way to make some money off Barack Obama, and that includes the Washington Post.  Reading this in FishbowlDC, it seems the Post web and classified ad departments came up with the idea of "giving readers the chance to send a personal message of congratulations to President-Elect Obama that can be read by millions," according to an internal Post memo obtained by FishbowlDC.  Starting at $10 per message — $5 a line, two-line minimum — you can send Obama your very best wishes.  The Post anticipates between 2,500 and 3,000 messages which will appear online and in a special Inauguration Day issue.  The online form includes a sample message:

Dear President Obama, Congratulations and welcome to Washington.  I am so proud of our country and thrilled to be a witness of this historical event.  Best wishes!

Look a little farther down, and you'll see this stipulation:

All ads must be congratulatory in nature.  The Washington Post reserves the right to reject any notice

Where do you stand on Bernie Madoff? Biggest bankrobbery ever and he gets house arrest on the Upper East Side. That motherfucker should be toothless and on his knees in Rikers if you ask me!

LOL Well, I'm not sure prison rape is what he's due.

If some mope robs a bank for $3000 he get carted off to Rikers. Why does Madoff get hang in his penthouse and order takeout from Le Cirque? Madoff bilked many charitable founadations of everything they had including employees 401K's. Waiting for trial in prison should be mandatory!
