You know, I realized late last night, while I was contrasting McCain's extraordinarily sincere speech with Obam's pukehood (heavily borrowed I noted), that the guy I voted for Prez has not won since 1988.  I'm not sure exactly what to make of that.  Damn glad that the good lord saw fit to make me a drinker, though.

you're the polar opposite of ohio. "as moonie goes, so goes the nation...as #@!$ing far away as possible".

so you never voted for clinton? who then? perot? don henley write in? spill the beans, mack, or i'll turn you over to obama's citizen's brigage. you and riffy will be washing dishes at the Edina denny's until you're 97 years old.

Obviously, George Bush (the non-retard one, albeit the one with the defective sperm) and Bob Dole.  Neither man was to be, and frankly it was understandable given Clinton's skills.  Last night, on the other hand, makes almost as little sense to me as George Walker Bush III being elected in the first place.  WTF?  Isn't there a possibility, given the changing forces of time, that the feel-good guy you really, really want might not be the best guy at a particular time at least?  Wouldn't there be a time - I don't know, say a time when the nation was going bankrupt, turning fat and socialist, and was involved in two wars, when a fiscal conservative and experienced, dedicated military commander might come in useful?  Just maybe?  Does that make any sense?

Moonie  I am sorry you are having trouble with this.  Yes change is a hard thing to stomach at our age..

Belly up to the Bar, cry in your beer, go seek counselling (whatever kind floats your boat) , bury your money in the back yard, run for a public office in Moofsville and attack this head on....

Eventually it might all make sense...

But if not -we will be here for you Wink

WASHINGTON – President-elect Barack Obama pivoted quickly to begin filling out his new administration on Wednesday, selecting hard-charging Illinois Rep. Rahm Emanuel as White House chief of staff while aides stepped up the pace of transition work that had been cloaked in pre-election secrecy.

Several Democrats confirmed that Emanuel had been offered the job. While it was not clear he had accepted, a rejection would amount to an unlikely public snub of the new president-elect within hours of an electoral college landslide.

With hundreds of jobs to fill and only 10 weeks until Inauguration Day, Obama and his transition team confronted a formidable task complicated by his anti-lobbyist campaign rhetoric.

The official campaign Web Site said no political appointees would be permitted to work on "regulations or contracts directly and substantially related to their prior employer for two years. And no political appointee will be able to lobby the executive branch after leaving government service during the remainder of the administration."

From a wise woman...

For now, we have a new president-elect. In the spirit of reaching across the aisle, we owe it to the Democrats to show their president the exact same kind of respect and loyalty that they have shown our recent Republican president.

Starting tomorrow, if not sooner.

From NRO:

"And now a new call to arms has sounded as Americans face another assault on freedom. For if the stand in the schoolhouse door was a defining moment for George Wallace, then surely the aftermath of Katrina and the invasion of Iraq will be the same for George W. Bush.

The trampling of individual freedoms and his blatant contempt for the rights of the average American may not have been as obvious as an ax-handle-wielding governor, but Bush's insidiousness and piety have made him much more dangerous."

I don't object to her right to make these standard issue criticisms of Bush, but more dangerous than George Wallace or Lester ? Yes, clearly African Americans would say they face a much more dangerous enviornment for preserving individual freedoms after eight years of Bush than when the state of Alabama was unleashing dogs on them for daring to sit at a lunch counter.

Katrina was a tragic failing of Bush's presidency, but it was one of governance (and probably the blame should be shared by New Orleans incompetent mayor) not a deliberate attack on anyone's civil rights — unlike George Wallace. Similarly, you may view the invasion of Iraq as a major blunder, but that's a tough argument to make in the same breath you're celebrating the election of a Vice-President who supported it and a President elect who wanted to cut and run at a time when it would have set Iraq up for a competitive round of ethnic cleansing.

But I'm sure typing that made Peggy Wallace Kennedy feel better about her father being an absolute monster most of his life and that's what really matters.

George Walker Bush III had a 90% approval rating at one point, well into his term.  It was completely undeserved - he's dumb and incompetent in all respects, and always has been - but it was there.  Claims of unfairness or uninformed judgment of the poor wee retard are fallacies of perpetually deluded Bush Geeks.  He earned the disgust and scorn of the large majority of Americans (85%), including conservatives, through his own poor job performance.  No crying in baseball, faggits.
