Overrated:

U2 (Very much overrated. Although they really are not my cup of tea they are pretty good at what they do to me and have surprisingly stood the test of time. They are substantial song writers too but that is as far as it goes to me. Never saw them as a "super group").
Dave Mathews Band (Very much. Still don't see why so many were obsessed)
Sublime (surely)
Audio Slave (naturally), Velvet Revolver (naturally)
Bruce Springsteen (A real good artist, but is not my cup of tea. I never thought he is of any legendary status though)
Led Zepplin (in a sense...I thought they were a great band and all. I will give them that much but I never saw them as the Gods that many act like they are).

While all above have good traits, have written at least decent tunes in their time, are pretty talented artists and deserved mention.... I don't think they should get the hype they actually received (or that some still do).

But I think that's a mistake even if it were true. But don't most Stones fans understand how good the Beatles actually were? There's nothing wrong with giving credit where its due.

As crazy as it may seem a band that I think is underrated in a sense, maybe I should state it as being "undermentioned" here in the states is The Who in today's day and age.

Not because nobody thinks of them as legends but because they do not get mentioned anymore as they used to be when great bands are in conversation. You'll get Beatles, Stones, Led Zepplin, The Doors, etc. but The Who are not always brought up. When I do bring them up nobody really disagrees but they fail to mention them or take note of it if I were not to bring them to light.

I think they should be rated higher than Led Zepplin and yet you'll hear Led Zepplin mentioned and talked about much more than The Who nowadays. It is a shame they get forgotten anymore a lot of the time.

At least that is how it seems in the states now.
