Paul on BBC 6 this morning

Paul sat down recently with 6Music's Lauren Laverne for a chat about what it means to be performing at the 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony this Friday.

Fans can listen to the interview by tuning in to 6Music between 10am-1pm (5am - 8am ET) on Wednesday, July 25th. Listen live at their website http://www.bbc.co.uk/6music

In the meantime, Paul has sent a message of support to the Team GB athletes competing at the Olympics and Paralympics which you can read here!

"All of us wish our UK teams in the Olympics and Paralympics the very best of luck. We hope they enjoy this great competition and create great memories for themselves and us all and at the same time bring home a bagful of lovely medals.

All the best,

Paul McCartney."

PaulMcCartney.com also filmed Paul and his band rehearsing for the opening ceremony last Friday which you can watch HERE!

July 25, 2012 -- Macca Report News Exclusive!!!

Paul at LIPA today

Sir Paul McCartney will be at his Liverpool fame school, LIPA this afternoon for the commencement ceremony.

LIPA graduations are usually held on the last Friday of July, but this year the graduation had to be moved to Wednesday, July 25th.

The reason?

LIPA's founder will be busy on Friday, July 25 closing the opening Olympic ceremonies in London.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

July 25, 2012 -- Los Angeles Times
London Olympics: Hearing Paul McCartney is like winning gold

The song suddenly cut through the steamy humidity of London's Olympic Park on Tuesday like a familiar breeze.

Somebody inside Olympic Stadium was singing "Hey, Jude."

Touring the park with the Chicago Tribune's Phil Hersh on Tuesday, I stopped outside the gigantic venue and openly wondered.

Why would the Olympic folks be blaring the most iconic Beatles song in the middle of a weekday afternoon? Or was some cover band actually in the stadium singing it?

We walked up to an Olympic worker and asked, "Where is that song coming from?"

The guy shrugged and said, "Sir Paul is in there training."

Yes, he was talking about Paul McCartney. And, yes, as we discovered moments later when we entered the mostly empty stadium, Paul McCartney and his band were on an end-zone stage rehearsing "Hey, Jude."

The scene was surreal. My sweat became chills. We stood and swayed with a couple of hundred workers listening to McCartney booming one of the most memorable refrains in music history.

"Na na na, na-na na na"

When McCartney finished, he pumped his fists and waved as if he were performing for 80,000 people. The cheers from our small group sounded like 80,000 people. By the time the music stopped, we had walked behind the stage for a closer look at a 70-year-old man who looks 20 years younger and was excitedly bouncing around like a teenager.

Clearly, the reports were true: McCartney will be singing this song at Friday's opening ceremonies. Its slot has not been confirmed, but wouldn't it be the perfect ending?

For me, it was a perfect Olympic beginning.  "

Joey, this is gonna fuck jb up-

I am a huge music fan, not just of U2, but pretty much any genre. I will approach most things with an open mind and some pop tunes really stick with me. I took the opportunity to see Katy Perry: Part of Me 3D at the movie theater on opening night. Ever since seeing U23D I have been looking for another music performance film in 3D that I had an interest in seeing. I decided to head out for this one on a weekend when I had little else to do.

I really enjoyed the movie. Here is a pop star who has struggled to get a contract and an album out. She writes her own songs, and spent years trying to break into the business. What I was most impressed with is how she treats her fans. She routinely meets fans before concerts, and during the show will often bring the outlandish dressers, and those that look like they are having excessive fun, up on stage to dance. One thing the film showed was how much she appeared to care about her fans, even struggling through a difficult emotional time to get out and greet her fans.

It made me wonder about U2 and how much of the fan "activity" actually reaches them. Do they notice when fans dress up in a U2 costume for a show? Do they see the synchronized dancing and miming of lyrics during shows? Do they realize that the colored balloons everywhere are a pre-arranged fan action? I think they do. And they have certainly shown a willingness to connect with the audience in a similar manner to Katy Perry. I have seen fans get up on stage and perform with the band. I have seen Bono welcome an entire amateur band on stage to play the opening of "Out Of Control." During the U2 360 tour volunteers at the show actually became part of the show nightly as they took to the stage during "Walk On."

The Katy Perry movie certainly reminded me how special it was to be a fan of any band or artist. I walked out after the movie with a feeling of just how lucky I have been to experience some incredible moments at U2 concerts.

Beatles ‘Lost Concert’ screening canceled, replaced with Rolling Stones film  Don't suck my cock
Filed under Announcements, InsideUF (Campus), Top Stories on Wednesday, July 25, 2012. GAINESVILLE, Fla. —

Due to unforeseen circumstances beyond the control of University of Florida Performing Arts, the Specticast presentation, “The Beatles: The Lost Concert,” scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Sept. 28 at the Phillips Center for Performing Arts has been canceled.

A replacement Specticast presentation, “The Rolling Stones: Some Girls, Live in Texas ’78,” will be presented at the same time.

New to UFPA this season, Specticast projects pre-recorded events on the Phillips Center Main Stage in HD quality.

“The Rolling Stones: Some Girls, Live in Texas ‘78,” is a rarely seen concert film featuring the classic British rock band at the height of their fame. The film was shot as part of the Rolling Stones’ 1978 U.S. tour, which is still hailed by many fans as their best to date. Capturing both the raw talent of the band and the excitement of the audience, the film is a testament to the power of live music and the Rolling Stones as true rock legends.

This updated version of the film brings it into the 21st century, with re-mastered audio and carefully restored footage. The film also includes an interview with Sir Mick Jagger, filmed in 2011, discussing the band’s impact and providing an inside perspective on this exceptional film.

Customers can contact the Phillips Center Box Office by calling 352-392-ARTS (2787) or 1-800-905-2787 (toll-free within Florida), or by visiting during business hours – Monday through Friday, noon to 6 p.m.

Iran Nuclear Plants Hit By Virus Playing AC/DC, Website Says
By Ladane Nasseri on July 25, 2012
Virus Rocks Iranian Nuclear Facilities With AC/DC

Iran’s nuclear facilities have suffered a cyber attack that shut down computers and played music from the rock band AC/DC, the F-Secure Security Labs website said.

A new worm targeted Iran’s nuclear program, closing down the “automation network” at the Natanz and Fordo facilities, the Internet security site reported, citing an e-mail it said was sent by a scientist inside Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization.

The virus also prompted several of the computers on site to play the song “Thunderstruck” by AC/DC at full volume in the middle of the night, according to the e-mail, part of which is published in English on the website.

F-Secure Security Labs, which is linked to F-Secure Oyj (FSC1V), the Finnish maker of security and cloud software, said that while it was unable to verify the details of the attack described, it had confirmed that the scientist who reported them was sending and receiving the e-mails from within Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization.

Iran’s nuclear program and oil facilities have been subject to a succession of cyber attacks that the Foreign Ministry said in May were launched by hostile governments as part of a broader “soft war.” Iran accuses the U.S. and Israel of trying to sabotage its technological progress. Both countries say Iran’s nuclear activities may have military intent, an allegation that Iran denies.

E-Mail Exchange
Mikko Hypponen, chief security officer at F-Secure Security Labs and the person involved in the correspondence, said he received three e-mails on July 22 from an individual with an aeoi.org.ir e-mail address, receiving replies after he responded. After researching the person’s name on the internet, Hypponen said he found “plenty of nuclear science papers and articles published by someone with this name.”

“I can’t confirm that the person was who he said he was. And I can’t confirm any of the things he said actually happened,” Hypponen wrote in reply to e-mailed questions. “But I can confirm I was emailing with someone who had access to an aeoi.org.ir address.”

Iran has called on the United Nations to condemn organized cyber attacks against nations, the head of Iran’s Information Technology Organization, Ali Hakim Javadi, said today, according to a report by the state-run news channel Press TV. Significant investment is needed for the creation of malware viruses such as Stuxnet or Flame, which previously targeted Iran, indicating that they were not produced by individuals, the Iranian official said.

High Voltage
AC/DC have played “high voltage rock ’n’ roll” since they were formed in 1973 in Australia, according to the band’s website. Their songs were among the loud music played to detainees at the Guantanamo Bay prison facility in preparation for interrogations, the Associated Press reported in October 2009, citing the National Security Archive in Washington.

An attack where the infected PCs start playing AC/DC isn’t that likely “unless the attacker really wants the victim to know they are hit,” Hypponen said.

F-Secure Security Labs is involved in analyzing viruses, spyware and spam attacks, according to its website.

Paul McCartney and Nancy Shevell arrive for LIPA graduation ceremony in Liverpool

Sir Paul McCartney praised an inspirational teacher whose enthusiasm helped him in his stellar career.

Making an appearance in Liverpool two days before he plays at the London Olympics opening ceremony the former Beatle said English teacher Alan Durband had instilled a love of literature in him as a Liverpool teenager.

He said: "He inspired me which I think later helped me in song writing. I had something behind me that informed some of the songs I was to write. And LIPA has an inspirational group of teachers."

The 70-year-old, who was accompanied by his wife Nancy, was speaking at the LIPA graduation ceremony at the Philharmonic Hall where more 260 students from the UK and more than 15 countries-- including Israel, South Korea and Venezuela -- received awards having completed either foundation certificate or degree programmes.

Seven arts luminaries were also made LIPA Companions, an accolade given for outstanding achievement in the arts and practical contribution to students' learning.

They included choreographer Matthew Bourne and 10CC and Godley and Creme founder Kevin Godley.

The pair were joined by stage and production manager Jason Barnes, UK pantomime producer Michael Harrison, choreographer and creative director Gary Lloyd, sound engineer and sound designer Owen Lewis, and reminiscence arts pioneer Pam Schweitzer.

Victor Greenberg, a promoter of live jazz in Liverpool and one of LIPA's original supporters, was made an Honoured Friend.

Kevin Godley told the graduates: "The world no longer appreciates talent the way it used to. It seems to be more excited by celebrity and gimmickry."

He added: "Honour your talent, always punch above your weight and, most importantly, find your voice." own true unique voice. Be brave enough to keep testing its worth. Don't become part of mediocrity.".

He then added, "Didn't realise Her Majesty was such a good parachutist!"

July 28, 2012 -- NZCity

Sir Paul McCartney found freedom in Scotland

Sir Paul McCartney found freedom when he, his wife Linda and their young family moved to Scotland after the break-up of The Beatles.

The legendary musician took his wife Linda and their young children - Heather, Linda's child from a previous rmarriage, and Mary - to their farm on the Mull of Kintyre, Scotland, in the wake of the dissolution of The Beatles to avoid dealing with all the legal problems that arose with the end of the group.

Paul said: "It was a good relief from everything that was going on, after The Beatles had broken up. For me, from the early days in Liverpool right through to the Ed Sullivan show to the big American tours, that had been my life, so when it suddenly ended in disarray, over business things, it was very unpleasant.

"So my thought at the time was, 'Just get away, don't' just sit in all these meetings with people saying, 'You've got to do that, oh no, no...' and it was really miserable and it was the opposite of what The Beatles had been.

"We just got away, Linda and I and took the kids and went to Scotland and found freedom. Freedom to raise our young family. And we suddenly realised how important that was. Otherwise I was, 'See you later love, you raise the kids, I've got to go to some heavy meeting, talk about business,' so we got away."

While they stayed on the farm, Paul and Linda worked on their musical collaboration 'Ram' which he says reflected the peaceful and idyllic background they found themselves in.

He added to BBC Radio6 music: "That was the spirit that 'Ram' was written in, I could go up, over the hills with my guitar, just write a little song, come back and stick it down in my notebook, then go off and record, and we went off to New York and later Los Angeles.

"It was great, it was freedom, so that album sums up the freedom that we were feeling at the time and it think it is reflected in the music."

'Ram' was re-released in May with a number of extra tracks and exclusive content, as well as in a Deluxe Edition Box Set.  "

JERUSALEM — Mitt Romney told Jewish donors Monday that their culture is part of what has allowed them to be more economically successful than the Palestinians, outraging Palestinian leaders who suggested his comments were racist and out of touch with the realities of the Middle East. His campaign later said his remarks were mischaracterized.

"As you come here and you see the GDP per capita, for instance, in Israel which is about $21,000 dollars, and compare that with the GDP per capita just across the areas managed by the Palestinian Authority, which is more like $10,000 per capita, you notice such a dramatically stark difference in economic vitality," the Republican presidential candidate told about 40 wealthy donors who ate breakfast at the luxurious King David Hotel.

Romney said some economic histories have theorized that "culture makes all the difference."

"And as I come here and I look out over this city and consider the accomplishments of the people of this nation, I recognize the power of at least culture and a few other things," Romney said, citing an innovative business climate, the Jewish history of thriving in difficult circumstances and the "hand of providence." He said similar disparity exists between neighboring countries, like Mexico and the United States.

Palestinian reaction to Romney was swift and pointed.

"It is a racist statement and this man doesn't realize that the Palestinian economy cannot reach its potential because there is an Israeli occupation," said Saeb Erekat, a senior aide to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

"It seems to me this man lacks information, knowledge, vision and understanding of this region and its people," Erekat added. "He also lacks knowledge about the Israelis themselves. I have not heard any Israeli official speak about cultural superiority."

Let It Be!
Sir Paul McCartney and wife Nancy Shevell don't let the rain dampen their spirits as they step out on a romantic stroll

It may have been pouring with rain, but Sir Paul McCartney and his wife Nancy Shevell haven't let the wet weather dampen their spirits.

The Beatles legend evidently decided to Let It Be as the couple stepped out for a romantic stroll in London's St John's Wood earlier today.

Strolling arm in arm the husband and wife looked the picture of love as they meandered through the streets with their umbrella.

Despite it being the middle of summer, the couple - who tied the knot in a low-key ceremony at Old Marylebone Town Hall last October - were dressed more for the winter months due to the inclement weather.

Nancy, 51, looked casual, yet chic, in jeans, chocolate brown leather boots and a chunky-knit navy blue cardigan, with a red gilet to protect her elements.

And despite being a New Yorker, she certainly seemed to be getting into the spirit of the London 2012 Olympic Games by carrying a navy and gold logo-emblazoned bag.

Meanwhile, Sir Paul, 70, looked stylish in a shirt and cardigan combo, jeans, and a smart black wool trenchcoat.

The couple seemed to be having a lovely day as they went about their chores, and were chatting eagerly as they popped into a luxury chemist to stock up on supplies.

Although he is usually able to command fees of hundreds of thousands of pounds for his performances, it was recently revealed Sir Paul was paid just Ł1 for his appearance at the London 2012 Olympic Games opening ceremony last Friday night.

Alongside a whole host of other big names, including Mike Oldfield, the Arctic Monkeys and Emeli Sande, the musician had agreed to play the show for free, but the inclusion of the minimal fee was deemed necessary to bind his and the other performers' contracts

STELLA!

London is the greatest city in the world - and not just when the Olympics are in town, says Stella McCartney, daughter of Beatles legend Paul McCartney.

The fashion designer who created Great Britain's team uniforms - which some say have a tad too much Scottish blue and not enough Welsh red - said the U.K.'s vibrant capital has "a bit of all the world" in it.

"I just love London, I think it has the best of every city I've ever been to ... even with the weather, I still love it," McCartney said Tuesday at a business summit seeking to win a U.K. trade boost from the Olympics.

" August 4, 2012 -- Samantha Farr's Blog About It

Paul McCartney in Manhattan

It was noon on a warm Monday in early July (July 2nd to be exact) and due to the impending holiday, one of the quietest weeks on even the busiest New York streets. I was on a lunch break from work and making my way to a dentist appointment. At the northwest corner of 5th Ave. and 54th St., a man in shorts and a t-shirt exits a tinted SUV on 5th Ave. and walks just a few feet in front of me, down 54th St. On the phone with my sister, I say, "Holy Sh*t! Paul McCartney just walked past me!" My sister responds, "Follow him and get a picture!" In somewhat of shock, I continue in the opposite direction of Sir Paul McCartney.

After a block, I realize that I need to see where Paul was going, pull myself together and get a picture with him (and maybe even exchange a few words). When in my life would I have this chance?!? I walk briskly back to 54th St., make a right and see him ahead. The street is quiet and only a duo ahead realize that Paul McCartney is in their presence. I am just steps behind him, with my iPhone camera application open and ready, when Paul turns to a man who is seemingly homeless (and overdressed in this extreme heat), bends down, smiles and speaks to him for a minute (I did not see whether money was handed over or not). The man, smiling, says a few words in response. I stood there, mesmerized by the moment, the juxtaposition - one of the wealthiest men in the world, alone on this hot New York City day, taking a moment to say 'hi' to someone on the streets that may not have a penny to their name.

This exchange was the perfect representation of compassion - social class or status did not matter, as it should not. I wanted to share this image and story because humanity can (continue) to learn from Sir McCartney. And, if you're wondering, I couldn't interrupt the moment and therefore I didn't end up getting my picture with Paul, but this image will do just fine.  "

Concur !!!!!

What ... ?!    ....... oh , sure !!!!! :

" In June 1981, Begin ordered the destruction of the reactor. On 7 June 1981, the Israeli Air Force destroyed the reactor in a successful long-range operation called Operation Opera.[32] Soon after, Begin enunciated what came to be known as the Begin doctrine: "On no account shall we permit an enemy to develop weapons of mass destruction (WMD) against the people of Israel." Many foreign governments, including the United States, condemned the operation, and the United Nations Security Council unanimously passed Resolution 487 condemning it. The Israeli left-wing opposition criticized it also at the time, but mainly for its timing relative to elections only three weeks later.  "

Joey, why is jb flustered?

That possible U2 Rock Band/Guitar Hero video game never came to fruition, but U2 will be featured in a new video game coming out later this year. Jay-Z (yes, that Jay-Z) is putting together the soundtrack for NBA 2K13 and, according to Billboard, has included U2's "Elevation" as one of the tracks. The game is due in stores on October 2nd.

Both 2K Sports and Billboard got it a bit wrong in that article when it says that U2 has never been featured in a video game before. "Beautiful Day" was included in a 2007 game called Singstar.

There was talk in 2009 that U2 was interested in doing a Rock Band game, but the music game genre has been declining for years and it's not likely to happen at this point.

"Paul McCartney's Live Kisses" Comes to "Great Performances" Friday, September 7th at 9 p.m. on PBS

Rare Concert Features McCartney with Diana Krall and Other Top-Flight Musicians Performing Standards From McCartney's Acclaimed Album Kisses on the Bottom and Exclusive Behind-The-Scenes Interviews

Paul McCartney's Live Kisses captures the magical night of February 9 in the City of Angels - coincidentally, the 48th anniversary of The Beatles' U.S. TV debut on The Ed Sullivan Show no less - when Paul McCartney decided to bring Kisses On The Bottom, his newly released collection of pop standards and two originals, to life at the very same Capitol Studios where much of the album was created.

The very special event will air on Great Performances, Friday, September 7 at 9 p.m. EDT on PBS. (Check local listings.)

A few hours after the long awaited addition of McCartney's star to the Hollywood Walk of Fame drew a traffic-stopping throng to pack the stretch of Vine Street in front of the famed Capitol Records building, McCartney took his place behind the same microphone that had captured so many of the most magical voices of the past several decades, while the core team that backed McCartney on his debut turn on Kisses, prepared to reprise their roles in this one-time-only concert event. McCartney and the assembled musicians had never performed this material live adding to the evening's electricity.

The reunited all-star entourage included Grammy-winning producer Tommy LiPuma and Al Schmitt in the control room, musical director Diana Krall at the piano, and Kisses players John Clayton, Karriem Riggins, John Pizzarelli, Anthony Wilson, Mike Mainieri and conductor Alan Broadbent.

McCartney eschewed his usual tools of bass, guitar and piano to focus solely on his vocal interpretations of this material. In exclusive interview segments with Paul and Kisses On The Bottom collaborators Eric Clapton, Stevie Wonder, Krall and LiPuma, among others, Live Kisses offers new insight into the conception and creation of the Kisses... album, the McCartney family gatherings that introduced a young Paul to much of the material, the Fats Waller line from Live Kisses opener "I'm Gonna Sit Right Down And Write Myself A Letter" that gave Kisses On The Bottom its title, and more.

Live Kisses' highlights include "Home," "More I Cannot Wish You," "Always," "Bye Bye Blackbird" and McCartney harmonizing with his longtime live drummer Abe Laboriel Jr. on "I'm Gonna Sit Right Down and Write Myself a Letter," "The Glory of Love" and "Ac-Cent-Tchu-Ate The Positive." There are spontaneous moments such as a flubbed first take on "My Very Good Friend the Milkman." Paul's rendition of his new composition "My Valentine" receives acoustic guitar punctuation courtesy of Joe Walsh (who contributes another outstanding turn in a completely different mood on "Get Yourself Another Fool").

Paul McCartney's Live Kisses is directed by Jonas Akerlund, and Paul McCartney is executive producer. For Great Performances, Bill O'Donnell is series producer, and David Horn is executive producer.  "

Paul twists, shouts for Apollo

Sir Paul McCartney took to the stage at a star-studded Hamptons benefit for the Apollo Theater and admitted it was the legendary Harlem venue and the music it inspired that made The Beatles to come to America.

McCartney - fresh from playing to an estimated 900 million people at the London Olympics opening ceremony - joined a superstar lineup at Ronald Perelman's Creeks estate in East Hampton on Saturday night. Speaking of the Apollo, McCartney told an intimate crowd of New York power players, "Where would we have been without you? In Liverpool, we [The Beatles] would have stayed there."

The Beatle, with wife Nancy Shevell, was seen dancing to performances by the Isley Brothers, Usher and a Whitney Houston medley from Jennifer Hudson.

To close the night, McCartney performed "Twist and Shout," the song that he had tried to perform with Bruce Springsteen at London's Hyde Park earlier this summer until organizers pulled the plug because they'd gone past the park curfew, with Jon Bon Jovi, Richie Sambora, Usher, Pharrell Williams, Hudson, Ron and Erney Isley and hot new artist Leah LaBelle.

"This isn't karaoke for millionaires, it is karaoke for billionaires," Usher had earlier joked as he surveyed the audience of power players at the exclusive fund-raiser, which raised $2 million to support programs at the Apollo.

Guests included New England Patriots owner Bob Kraft and Universal Studios president Ron Meyer. Also there were LA Reid, Ronald Lauder and new power couple Tamara Mellon and Mike Ovitz.

Usher, who got the room dancing with a series of hit also made an emotional speech, and perhaps referring to the recent tragic loss of his stepson, he said, "For all the hard times, you can't do it without your friends, so I just want to toast a second . . . Thank you for allowing me to share this incredible moment with you." Raising a glass, he added, "Cheers for tears."
