This is why we are here.
Macca is attempting to redeem himself with his new marriage.
As well, he's maintained that great drummer for over a decade now.
Otherwise, his altering songwriting credit on some Beatle songs to McCartney/Lennon after
Lennon died is unforgivable.

Sir Paul and a chip off the old rocker : McCartney flies from arena show to tiny pub gig... to see his son James perform

Hours after performing in front of 26,000 fans in Moscow, Sir Paul McCartney was on the plane home for an equally important concert date.

This time he was in the audience -- and the performer was his only son, James.

The crowd in a North London bar amounted to no more than 100. But 34-year-old James was delighted with the reception he received from a family party which also included his elder sisters Mary and Stella.

The family stood close to the stage dancing to the music while Sir Paul, 69, took photographs on his mobile phone at the Barfly in Camden Town.

'Paul was like any proud dad,' said one of the audience. 'He was taking pictures of his son on stage, having a dance and really enjoying himself.

'It was amazing to think he'd played a gig thousands of miles away the night before -- especially at his age.'

James dedicated one song, Wings of a Lightest Weight -- the title track of a forthcoming EP -- to his father.

James told the crowd: 'This is about my dad,' before adding: 'This is a brilliant song.'

The EP, co-produced by Sir Paul, goes on sale next year.

After the show, the family went backstage to congratulate James in his cramped dressing room.

A friend said: 'They were all saying how great the songs were.

'At one point, Paul told James what a brilliant guitarist he was -- which must have been really thrilling for James and how proud he was of him.'

Thursday night's show marked the end of a mini-tour by James, in which he also played the Hare and Hounds pub in King's Heath, Birmingham and the Ruby Lounge in Manchester. James is the youngest of Sir Paul's three children with his late first wife Linda.

Mary and Stella are eight years and six years older respectively while half-sister Heather, from Linda's previous marriage, is 15 years his senior.

Sir Paul also has a daughter, Beatrice, eight, from his ill-fated marriage to Heather Mills.

In his early years as a musician James was reluctant to trade on his family's fame or fortune and worked as a waiter to make ends meet.

His relationship with his father is believed to have come under strain during Sir Paul's relationship with Miss Mills.

However, since the couple separated in May 2006, the two male McCartneys have become close again to such an extent that James was best man when Sir Paul married American heiress Nancy Shevell in October.

Paul McCartney Announces New Album 'My Valentine'

Ahh, romance. It will certainly be in the air when Sir Paul McCartney releases his brand new album titled 'My Valentine' on Feb. 7 via the Concord/Hear Music label.

Just in time for Valentine's Day, the album will feature romantic ballads - originals and covers - rooted in the sounds of days gone by. McCartney described the album to Direct Current as such: "This will sound like the years between 1920-1940," he said, "these are songs I heard. My family, my uncles, everybody sang."

Last spring, McCartney talked to Rolling Stone about wanting to do a 'pop standards' type album saying, "I've wanted to do that kind of thing forever, since the Beatle days."

Hoping to avoid what he called "doing a Rod" (referring to Rod Stewart's saccharine string of standards albums), Paul has written several new songs, in that vintage style, for inclusion on the album. Summing up his new work, Paul said "This is very tender, very intimate. This is an album you listen to at home after work, with a glass of wine or a cup of tea."

'My Valentine' was produced by Tommy LiPuma and features jazz vocalist and pianist Diana Krall (also known as Mrs. Elvis Costello.)

And if that ain't enough sharing the love, on Feb. 10, Paul will be honored as MusiCares Person Of The Year as part of the annual fundraiser hosted by The Recording Academy prior to the 2012 Grammys.  "

" December 20, 2011 -- Macca Report News
by Bob Gannon (Macca Reporter)

The MEN Arena - Manchester, England - December 19, 2011

First of all, Paul's voice was in superb form last night from sound check right until the last lyric sung! Extremely interactive and energetic.

Sound check Set List

1. Matchbox
2. Honey Don't
3. Jam
4. Flaming Pie
5. Penny Lane
6. Birthday
7. C Moon
8. Don't Let The Sun Catch You Crying
9. Whole Lotta Shaking
10. It's So Easy
11. Every Night
12. Petrushka
13. Aomething
14. Bluebird
15. Yesterday
16. Lady Madonna

He really ripped through "Don't Let The Sun Catch You Crying" and "Whole Lotta Shaking." The best versions of those songs I've heard him do.

Cameras again were a problem with Event Travel so little to no sound check photos or at least good ones.

Beatrice came out with security and sat by the soundcheck group while she listened to three songs.

The Concert

The regular show was as hot as I've seen with an extended setlist adding "Ram On" and a children's choir to sing "Wonderful Christmastime". This show definitely ranks among the best i've seen in terms of Paul's performance.

Even though my front row package put me all the way to the side where I was overlooking the backstage area, it was still a great show to hear but no so great to watch. We actually complained to event travel that we did not consider this a premium seat.

So show #99 was not as great personally for me.

We'll see if they do anything for us in Liverpool.

During the first encore, Paul brought some people on stage. Two girls from Argentina had a huge banner and they were called on stage with the banner. Paul got hugs and signed their t-shirts. Another girl from Korea was called up and she gave Paul a hug and then handed him a small present.

They saved the best for last... Phil from Manchester who was wearing a hat which had a lit up Christmas tree on top. Phil, I think from Manchester, but he gets around to the shows. He had a nice banter going with Paul and eventually got a tattoo of Paul's face signed by Paul.

Concert Set List

1. Magical Mystery Tour
2. Junior's Farm
3. All My Loving
4. Jet
5. Got To Get You Into My Life
6. Sing The Changes
7. The Night Before
8. Let Me Roll It/Foxy Lady
9. Paperback Writer
10. The Long And Winding Road
11. Come And Get It
12. Nineteen Hundred And Eight-Five
13. Maybe I'm Amazed
14. I'm Looking Through You
15. And I Love Her
16. Blackbird
17. Here Today
18. Dance Tonight
19. Mrs. Vanderbilt
20. Eleanor Rigby
21. Ram On
22. Something
23. Band On The Run
24. Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da
25. Back In The USSR
26. I've Got A Feeling
27. A Day In The Life/Give Peace A Chance
28. Let It Be
29. Live And Let Die
30. Hey Jude

First Encore
30. The Word / All You Need Is Love
31. Wonderful Christmastime
32. Day Tripper
33. Get Back

Second Encore
34. Yesterday
35. Helter Skelter
36. Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight/The End  "

" December 20, 2011 -- Press Release

Paul McCartney Announces Brand New As Yet Untitled Album

Paul's Tribute To Personal Favourites & Two New Self Penned Compositions Out February 6th

While many a musician is often asked about the tunes that have influenced their songwriting, it is not a question Paul McCartney ordinarily gets to answer -- until now. Paul is about to offer a glimpse into "the songs which inspired the songs" with the upcoming release of a brand new album of those standards he grew up listening to in his childhood-plus two brand new McCartney compositions: the album, which is currently untitled, will be released on Hear Music/Concord Records on February 6th 2012. (February 7th in the US)

With the help of Grammy Award-winning producer Tommy LiPuma and Diana Krall and her band-as well as guest appearances from Eric Clapton and Stevie Wonder, McCartney's new album is a deeply personal journey through classic American compositions that, in some cases, a young Paul first heard his father perform on piano at home. As authentic and daring a musical statement as he could make, this is the album Paul has been thinking about making for more than 20 years - and probably the last thing his fans are expecting. "In the end it was 'Look, if I don't do it now, I'll never do it," he says.

In short, Paul believes it is about time "the songs me and John based quite a few of our things on" received the recognition they deserve. Moreover, the record also features a couple of new original McCartney compositions in the spirit of those classics.

"When I kind of got into songwriting, I realised how well structured these songs were and I think I took a lot of my lessons from them," Paul explains. "I always thought artists like Fred Astaire were very cool. Writers like Harold Arlen, Cole Porter, all of those guys - I just thought the songs were magical. And then, as I got to be a songwriter I thought it's beautiful, the way they made those song'."

Determined to approach the record in a new and unique manner, Paul enlisted the help of LiPuma and Krall and her band-who delivered ultra-high quality musicianship and were completely in tune with Paul's restraint and feel for the music. In the studio, the recording of this album was also a new challenge for Paul who, for the first time ever, performed exclusively in the vocal booth without no instrument -- no guitar, no bass, no piano - which led to a vocal performance like no other in his career.

He adds, "It was very spontaneous, kind of organic, which then reminded me of the way we'd work with The Beatles. We'd bring a song in, kick it around, when we found a way to do it we'd say 'Okay, let's do a take now' and by the time everyone kind of had an idea of what they were doing, we'd learnt the song. So that's what we did, we did the take live in the studio."

"It was important for me to keep away from the more obvious song choices so, many of the classic standards will be unfamiliar to some people. I hope they are in for a pleasant surprise."

The album was recorded at the legendary Capitol Studios in Los Angeles, New York and London throughout 2011. It also features guest musicians Eric Clapton and Stevie Wonder, respectively, on the original compositions 'My Valentine' and 'Only Our Hearts'.

The track 'My Valentine' will be exclusively streamed on www.paulmccartney.com to premium members for 24 hours only, from 2pm GMT(Monday 19th December).

Full tracklisting to be announced soon. "
