Joey, is jb's mind on his money or is his money on his mind?

As we (and others) have reported already, From The Sky Down is getting its own DVD and Blu-Ray release in the next couple months. The documentary about the making of Achtung Baby has already appeared on a variety of TV and cable stations, and was also included as bonus material in the Super Deluxe and Uber Deluxe versions of the 20th anniversary Achtung Baby re-release.

Now U2.com is confirming the separate DVD and Blu-ray releases for December 12th, with the U.S. release set for January 24th. Amazon UK already has listings for a regular DVD release and a Blu-ray version. Likewise, Amazon.com also has separate listings for the regular DVD and the Blu-ray version. The DVD will have bonus material that includes U2 performing "So Cruel," "Love Is Blindness" and "The Fly" in Hansa Studios earlier this year, along with some of the Q&A that Bono, The Edge and director David Guggenheim did at the Toronto International Film Festival in September.

Ex Beatle to bring all his loving to Moscow

Listen to what the man said, especially if it is his majesty Sir Paul McCartney confirming his highly-anticipated live gig in the Russian capital in mid-December.

The iconic 69-year-old singer once promised he could work it out and has kept his word to the Russian organizers of his concert, scheduled for December 14.

According to his Moscow managers, the scale of the show can be verified by the number of the personnel, the amount of equipment, the quality of state-of-the-art light, sound and lavish scenery.

Apart from tons of stage equipment, the former Beatle is also set to bring to Moscow the new Mrs. McCartney, Nancy Shevell. The 51-year-old American brunette is rumored to be three months pregnant. (!!??)

The Moscow show is part of the world tour which has kicked off in New York and will continue with six gigs in North America and Canada, after which McCartney will finish with some European dates.

" December 2, 2011 -- Contact Music

Paul McCartney Has Antiseptic Aftershave

Sir Paul McCartney has joked he uses Dettol antiseptic liquid as cologne everyday rather than a normal fragrance.

The Beatles legend claimed he always splashes on Dettol liquid after he runs a razor across his face during an interview with Absolute Radio DJ Geoff Lloyd on his Hometime Show last night.

When asked "what cologne do you wear yourself", the musician - who was speaking from Cologne, Germany - said: "I can't possibly reveal that . Dettol, a little dab of Dettol behind the ears I recommend."

Paul also revealed he had a wonderful day when he married Nancy Shevell in London earlier this year.

Speaking about the big day - which took place on October 9 on what would have been the 71st birthday of his late Beatles bandmate John Lennon - he said: "Oh, it was lovely, yeah, really great actually. We had a very relaxing day."

The 69-year-old star also claimed he isn't that busy and gets a lot of time off, even though people always think he's working.

Paul explained: "I mean people think that (I'm always on the go). It looks very busy, but I get lots of time off, you know. I've got the weekend you know."

The 'Hey Jude' singer brings his 'On The Run Tour' to the UK next week, kicking off with a concert at London's The 02 on Monday, December 5th. "

" December 3, 2011 -- The Express (UK)

Sir Paul McCartney no big spender

Baby, he's a rich man, with an estimated fortune of £475 million ($742 million) -- but it seems Sir Paul McCartney isn't one to splash the cash.

When he phoned from Germany for an interview with Absolute Radio earlier this week presenter Geoff Lloyd was surprised to find that the former Beatle, had reversed the call charges.

"You know, every little helps," Macca, 69, explained. He then said he was considering taking the Underground from his home near Abbey Road studios to the O2 in Greenwich for his concert on Monday. "It'd be a lot quicker than the [last] route we took," he joked.

What has led Sir Paul to such acts of frugality? Could it be he's spending too much on TV shopping?

"If I just turn the channel and if it's the shopping channel, I'm hooked," he revealed.

1964: Beatlemania hits New Orleans
Published: Wednesday, December 07, 2011, 11:59 PM
 By The Times-Picayune

Beatlemania hit New Orleans on Sept. 16, 1964, when the Fab Four played a sold-out show at City Park.

...
The Times-Picayune
Many New Orleans fans were overcome with excitement, the newspaper reported.

The British pop stars were mobbed by fans at their hotel on Chef Menteur Highway. They signed autographs for Mayor Vic Schiro, who presented them with the key to the city and declared “Beatles Day.” The four Brits also met Fats Domino.

Thousands of frenzied fans bought $5 tickets for the group's only New Orleans concert, at what’s now known as Tad Gormley Stadium. One person offered tickets at a discounted price in The Times-Picayune’s classifieds. The ad read: "Have block of 25 tickets to see the Beatles at City Park, Sept. 16. Sacrifice $3.50 each."

More than 200 police officers provided security at the concert, but a riot nearly broke out when fans rushed onto the field toward the stage. Police reported they administered "spirits of ammonia" to more than 200 people during the performance.

The British group pronounced their visit to New Orleans the “roughest” of their 1964 U.S. tour. But they weren't referring to the concert itself. A helicopter scheduled to fly the four musicians to their motel blew a tire and replacement limousines were incorrectly dispatched to New Orleans International Airport. Their flight was diverted there, which left New Orleans City Councilman Daniel Kelly scrambling across town, first to the airport and then to the group's motel on Chef Menteur Highway, in a vain attempt to present them with Mayor Victor Schiro's 'Beatles Day' proclamation.

The band's vehicle took a different path from the others, so fans lining the planned route to the motel never got a glimpse of them. At the Congress Inn, their limo backed into a Kenner police car as it sought to maneuver through the crowd. The foursome dashed into the lobby, through a utility room and finally into Room 100.
The next day Mayor Schiro presented the group with the key to the city, and John Lennon responded: "I want to put my arm around you. You look like a nice fellow, Lord Mayor."

After the band's performance that night at 9:30, they boys were whisked away to their next stop on the tour: Kansas City.

...
Beatles fan Karen De Hority sobs after her idols passed her at the Congress Inn. 'I saw them but I wanted to touch them,' she wailed. Kenner deputy Anthony Genusa looks on disbelievingly. Sept. 16, 1964

...

...
Early on the morning of Sept. 16, 1964, a series of mishaps left these girls gathered at Lakefront Airport to greet the Beatles, but it was the wrong airport.

...
The Beatles themselves arrive at their motel in New Orleans before their appearance at City Park Stadium. At left front is Ringo Starr. Left rear is Paul McCartney. John Lennon wears the dark glasses. Part of George Harrison's head is at lower left. Dereck Taylor, one of their agents, shows them a newspaper.

...
Ardent fans enjoy the Beatles' performance at City Park.

" December 8, 2011 -- The Sun (UK)

The Ron And Winding Road for Macca and Wood

Former Beatle Paul McCartney got a little help from a friend -- when Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood joined him on stage (December 5).

The guitar-slinger joined the former mop top for a rendition of classic "Get Back" during Paul's show at London's O2 Arena.

The gig was the first of three he will play before Christmas.

He'll visit Manchester next before giving his final gig of the year on December 20 at his home town's Echo Arena in Liverpool.

And the 69-year-old said he was thrilled to be pperforming at the O2.

He said: "Yes, I love the O2, it's one of London's great venues. I think one of the things I like about it is that before the O2 arena was built, we rehearsed in what was then the Millennium Dome.

"I remember my promoter bringing round an American guy who said, 'We are going to build an arena within this dome'. And we all thought it was a great idea, and now that it's a reality, it's especially cool to play."
