" In San Paulo, U2 will break the record of $558 million set by the Rolling Stones for their A Bigger Bang tour in 2005-2007. By the time U2's tour wraps in November in Omaha , Nebraska, it will have passed the $1.2 Billion mark.

360 will have sold 18 million tickets to 110 shows, which will be enough to capture the "highest attended tour ever" record as well. The Rolling Stones also currently hold that record as well, with 6.4 million tickets sold for their Voodoo Lounge tour. "

360 Becomes Highest Grossing Concert Tour Ever

Sunday marked an important day for U2. The band’s concert in Sao Paulo, Brazil for their 360 tour made it the highest grossing concert tour of all time.

This would take away the title from the Rolling Stones, whose Bigger Bang Tour made $554 million. 360 will have made over $700 million once it concludes this summer.

Concert promoter Live Nation said in a press release, “By the tour end on July 30, more than 7 million people will have seen this revolutionary production with 110 shows in 30 countries across five continents.”

“These numbers are staggering, a fantastic result,” said tour promoter and producer Arthur Fogel. He also mentioned that with more seats available because of the stage design, it enables more people to see U2. “The extra capacity that the U2 360 creates also allows for a larger number, several thousand in fact, of low priced tickets at every show,” he said.

U2’s manager Paul McGuinness said of the tour’s success, “Fans all over the world agree that a ticket to U2 360 is a good value for money. We’re really proud of this tour and this achievement is great news, coming as we head back into North America.”

U2 will play their final show in Sao Paulo on Wednesday before heading to North America next month. 360 will wrap up in Moncton Nebraska on July 30.

Joey, this ain't helping flank pain!

U2's tour of South America came to an end tonight with the third and final show in Sao Paulo's Morumbi Stadium. The show was broadcast live on Brazilian radio and streamed online across South America, as well as to U2.com members worldwide. (There was also a fan's Ustream video feed from inside the stadium that reached an astounding 18,000 viewers at one point.)

Bono had some struggles here and there with his voice, but it didn't seem to slow the band or show down at all. "Zooropa" was played for the second consecutive time, and Bono sang a bit of "All I Want Is You" leading into "Streets." There was a neat moment earlier when Brazilian singer Seo Jorge joined Bono in singing a cover of Kraftwerk's "The Model," with Edge accompanying on acoustic guitar.

You can see the full Sao Paulo #3 setlist on U2tours.com, and that's where you can post your photos and/or a review of the show if you were there. Next stop: Mexico City, in just under a month!

Was that Paul McCartney and Nancy at Coachella? Yes it WAS!!

A friend of mine just texted me from Coachella, informing me that Paul was in the VIP tent, and rumoured to be guesting with the Chemical Brothers later that night, which didn't happen.

However, Paul was shown on the video screen dancing to Afrojack (a DJ music act) !!

Paul and Nancy walked through the grounds of Coachella in one of the VIP areas when he was stopped by fans and snapped by paparazzi.

For the ninth consecutive year, folks at the African Well Fund are fundraising in honor of Bono's birthday to bring water to Africa.

In the past eight years, U2 fans have contributed nearly $200,000 for projects in Uganda, Zimbabwe, Liberia and Angola. These donations have helped more than 30,000 African citizens. This year's gifts, accepted through May 10, will be used to help a girls' schools in Benin.

In addition to donating directly through their site, there are also auctions on eBay to benefit the cause, and merchandise is available on Zazzle.

Once you donate, you can also sign your name to an annual card that is presented to Bono via Principle Management each year.

Manhattan Beach resident Rob Christie began working in the hallowed halls of EMI-Capitol Records in Hollywood - whose catalog includes icons of the music industry, from Frank Sinatra to The Beatles.

Christie originally ended up at Capitol because of his idol Paul McCartney and The Beatles. Over the years he was able not only to meet McCartney (last week when he was in the studio working with Jardin, McCartney was in the next studio working on a new album), Ringo Starr (Christie produced his greatest-hits album "Photograph") and George Harrison, but to work with them on various projects. These projects included the box set compilations "The Capitol Albums" Vol. 1 and 2, which included stereo and mono mixes of the group's early albums.

"I had to take the original Beatles masters, fly them on a plane in a lock box that I had to keep with me," Christie said. "Each one of those tapes was insured for $1 million. The first time I went I had eight original Beatles masters basically tethered to me on the plane. I hate to fly to begin with so it was pretty stressful."

He added, "Anything with the Beatles has to be run by the band. It's between the four factions, Paul, Ringo, Olivia Harrison and Yoko Ono. Nowadays they're (The Beatles) still as hot as they've ever been."

Christie is in the process of working with other "heritage artists," veteran acts that have an established fan base, like Debbie Gibson, Sheila E., guitarist Brian Ray, who will soon be touring with McCartney, and The Monkees, as well as a couple runner-ups from the hit show "American Idol."

The most recent evidence came in one of Willie Williams' recent U2.com diary entries:

As it is, we now go until the end of July where U2360 will take the final curtain call at Moncton in north-eastern Canada.

(emphasis mine) That's pretty definitive. Equally certain is this excerpt from last week's Live Nation news release announcing that the U2 360 tour had become the highest grossing tour ever:

With 26 shows left before the tour finishes in Canada on July 30, U2 360 will also set a new record as the top grossing tour of all time, with final ticket sales due to surpass $700 million.

Music legends Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr will reunite with Yoko Ono and Olivia Harrison, the widows of the late Beatles John Lennon and George Harrison, respectively, in a return visit to Las Vegas.

VegasDeLuxe.com has exclusively confirmed that the fab four have agreed to fly here for a fifth anniversary celebration June 8 for Cirque du Soleil's hit spectacular Love at the Mirage.

Cirque officials shuffled the show's calendar, and instead of June 8 being a dark theater day, the cast and crew will swap their day off for another date to perform one very special show.

I've also confirmed that Cirque head honcho Guy Laliberte will lead a delegation of his company's executives from Montreal and play host to celebrities at an after-party. It's expected that Beatles sound engineer producers Sir George Martin and his son Giles, who reimagined the original master tracks for the Mirage, also will attend.
In addition to the red carpet, Paul and Ringo are expected to make brief speeches, and all four will go onstage at the end of the show to pose for official cast photos. Preparations for the special night are in the final planning stages.

"This will be spectacular," I was told. "We all remember when they were here for the premiere five years ago. Individually, they've popped in over the years to check up on the show, which is very special and dear to them. Now they will all be back together for a reunion -- and the important milestone celebration."
