Before the show Paul was presented with a special gift by the Mayor of Buenos Aires. The city distinguished Paul as a 'Guest of honour of the city of Buenos Aires'. The show was also attended by The Jonas Brothers who are also currently on tour.

During the soundcheck, Paul invited some very lucky fans up on stage with him. The fans couldn't believe it.  "

Paul McCartney's exclusive dinner in Argentina

After his last concert in Argentina (November 11th), Paul McCartney had a private celebration for 30 people at Elsinore restaurant in Martinez.

Fadelli Vanina, the graceful lady of the place said that everything was done with discretion, "On Tuesday at 10 am, people arrived asking about a private party for 30 people, but never said who it was for."

Fadelli said that they looked around the restaurant "for a long time and then confirmed the reservation for 12 midnight. "That's when we heard that Paul McCartney was coming," he said.

As fans know, the former Beatle is a fervent vegetarian, and this was confirmed by Fadelli: "The menu was prepared solely for him, 100 percent vegetarian. He received a Margarita, orange juice and a lime and a half, and then enjoyed an entry with the goat cheese."

Paul requested between 500 and 600 candles, decorate the room. "What he liked most was the dish of ravioli stuffed with goat cheese with port sauce and crunchy almonds," said the manager.

Paul only had one Margarita and a lot of water.

Finally, the restaurant manager said that Paul "paid by credit card but left enough to tip the waiters, who were very satisfied."

"Of course, the chair were Sir Paul took sat, will remain as a relic of the place. We put a gold plaque on the back to perpetuate it forever. It celebrates the most influential living artist of the Earth."

Paul McCartney's shows at River Plate stadium an unforgettable ride
By Pablo Toledo

My eyes have seen the glory of the coming of Sir Paul

The taxi zoomed across a mostly sleeping city, and I got home half after midnight. Quick bite, quick chat, put the baby to sleep. Then try and get some of my own but what's the point? At 5am, images from Paul McCartney's show (November 10th) at River Plate kept flooding back, and the ear-to-ear grin simply refused to budge. It's still tattoed on, and likely to stay put for a while.

It was unforgettable. Epic. Legendary. Mind-blowing. Seismic. Masterful.

It was like watching Michelangelo take a large blank canvas and repaint his masterpieces with the wisdom gathered over the years.

It was a magical non-mystery tour.

Before I keep wearing out my Thesaurus, falling into convoluted analogies or twisting song titles in search of pun and punchline, let me state the facts: in three hours sharp, Macca blazed through 35 tracks spanning his solo years, his time with the Wings, his side project The Fireman, John Lennon's Give Peace a Chance (released while he was still a Beatle), a salute to Jimi Hendrix's Foxy Lady (incidentally, the first artist to play Sgt. Pepper's... live, in a London club the day after the LP was released) and a whooping, glorious 22 Beatles songs from All My Loving through to The End. The stage design was impressive but not gimmicky, with screens at backs and sides, interesting lights and a fireworks display for Live and Let Die that you may have seen on videos from previous shows on the tour but which, live, simply knocks you off your feet.

His band was beyond flawless: Rusty Anderson and Brian Ray on atomic string duty, Paul (Wix) Wickens on keyboards and the tower-of-power consummate showmanship of Abe Laboriel Jr. on drums handle all of the music to perfection, and are a well-oiled rocking machine with years of shared experience. And, of course, they have Sir Paul on bass (the signature Hofner violin), guitar (including the upside-down Gretsch he played on the original recording of Paperback Writer), mandolin, ukelele and piano. Paul McCartney in São Paulo

The fans who filled Morumbi Stadium on Sunday evening (21) expressed their admiration for Paul McCartney singing "I love you, yeah-yeah-yeah" in the rhythm of the classic "She Loves You" in the middle of the show.

Then the ex-Beatle played "Blackbird" on acoustic guitar. The full moon shone in the sky of the city lit up the audience.

Earlier, Paul sat at the piano and performed the acclaimed "'The Long and Winding Road' and "My Love ", which he dedicated to couples in love.

Paul McCartney took the stage at the crowed Morumbi Stadium at 9:35 pm. The show began to the sound of 'Venus and Mars / Rock Show', 'Jet' and 'All My Loving'.

The former Beatle greeted the audience with a "boa noite, São Paulo" (good evening, São Paulo) and warned he would try to speak Portuguese.

He arrived wearing a blue blazer, but soon removed the jacket because of the heat, revealing a more comfortable shirt and suspenders.

Tonights' show as well as tomorrow's show, are sold out: 64,000 thousand people are expected at each concert.

McCartney arrived at Morumbi around 4pm. As he did on Saturday (20) arriving for the sound check, the former Beatle opened the car door and waved to the audience. (See video below).

After opening its doors at 5:30pm, the corridors of Morumbi were filled with a pure atmosphere of Beatlemania. Fans entered, hugging, kneeling and taking photos with tickets in hand.

Earlier, the crowd stood in queues (lines) circling the stadium for hours waiting for the gates to open.

Still, the doors to Morumbi were calm, despite the large amount of people ( nearly two hundred thousand people   -- Incredible    .. and necessary to win gross  ) .

Crews are working 16-hour days to get ready for the biggest concert of the year when the U2 360 Tour hits the country.

The largest temporary grandstand ever built in New Zealand has gone into the north end of the main arena of Auckland's Mt Smart Stadium, which will hold nearly 12,000 fans.

At the southern end the installation of a second 10,000-seat temporary stand will be completed this weekend in time for the shows on  Thursday and Friday, next week.

Much of this  second temporary grandstand has been trucked up in a massive logistical operation from the World Rowing Championships that were held at Lake Karapiro earlier this month. A team of 40 men has been working long shifts to get the southern stand completed on time.

Because of the extra seats, the promoters have been able to make a final release of tickets at all levels for the Friday's show. Thursday night's concert is sold out.

Joining U2 as their special guest will be US rapper Jay-Z in his first performances in New Zealand. The Auckland concerts will be the only New Zealand appearances by U2 and kick off the Australasian leg of the 360 Tour, which is already the highest grossing tour of the year.

Paul's stage tumble

When Paul was waving goodbye to the São Paulo crowd last night, he fell. It appeared that he fell over some stage equipment and hit his head and knee, however, Macca bounced right back up and waved to the crowd. At the time it did not look serious.

Paul canceled the sound check for today's show because of rain. People will receive refunds.

Watch video. Paul falls about 1:39 in. "

When I was a kid I used to get bullied because we were poor and couldn't afford to wear clothes like the other kids.

We had to wear whatever my father brought home from work at the toy factory. We wore the toys. Each day my mother would wake up and open 11 twister games, and she would roll the twister mats on the floor, and me and my 11 brothers and sisters would wrap the twister mats around our bodies like a suit. And then we'd get a hot wheels racetrack and put that around our waste as a belt. And if there was no hot wheels we'd use Johnny Lightning, and if there's no Johnny Lightning we'd rip up a hoola hoop, and we put that around our waste, and we went to school.

And the other children would want to make fun of us because we had on Twister suits, and it's no fun getting your butt kicked in a Twister mat- Right foot blue! Left hand red! It's a game to these kids. I''m standing on the corner, and some kids is spinning the spinner and kickin my butt.

Let it B(aby)

Holy Moly! can exclusively reveal that Stella McCartney will tonight give birth to her baby at the The Portland Hospital in London. As a result, we would like to give All Our Loving on what must have been A Hard Day's Night...

Stella went into labour earlier today and has just undergone an emergency caesarean section. The baby, whose gender is yet to be confirmed, should be delivered within the next hour.

We are led to believe that all is well and there are no underlying health issues. Which is nice!

With three grandchildren from his other daughter, Mary, it looks like Paul's about to become a granddad for the seventh time.

Stella, along with husband, Alasdhair Willis, have already given birth to three: Miller, aged 5, Bailey, aged 3 and Beckett, aged 2. Perhaps now this one is born the four of them could form some kind of music band and revolutionise pop music forever?

Just a suggestion.

Congratulations and good luck to Stella and co!  "

Irish rock stars U2 are working on a new album while they are in New Zealand.

The band, who are performing two Auckland shows today and Friday, were using their time while they were in the country wisely. The band's manager, Paul McGuinness, said U2 had a deadline looming for their latest album and were working on finishing it while they are here.

"We are trying very hard to use this time in New Zealand and Australia to finish an album that will be released in the spring," he said.

McGuinness said while the band were not actually recording in New Zealand, they were working hard on the finishing touches.

"It's not so much recording as editing and polishing up lyrics and trying to getting it done by the date it needs to be delivered to the record company for release in May. It's sounding great: lots of hits."

The U2 360 Tour production director, Jake Berry, said some of the band's older hits needed a bit of work ahead of their performance tonight, but it was nothing a few rehearsals could not fix.

"We've had a few minutes on stage. We've been on a break, so we need to get the cobwebs out a bit."

Auckland residents from all over the city reported they could hear the band's practice from their homes on Tuesday night.

The stage itself is one of the biggest ever seen in New Zealand. Mr Berry said the show had a lot of sound, a lot of light and a lot of video.

"It's a lot of production," he said. "I think somebody worked it out to how many light bulbs you could power with those generators, and I think it was something ridiculously stupid like 550,000 light bulbs."

The band, who arrived in the country on Monday, are set to play to a packed Mt Smart Stadium tonight. Over 50,000 tickets sold out in less than an hour for the show.

Tickets are still available for Friday night's concert.

He's a Day Tripper : Paul McCartney crashes face first on stage during curtain call in Brazil

He regularly performs to tens of thousands of people across the world during his six decades in showbusiness.

But despite being a curtain call veteran, Sir Paul McCartney ended up crashing face first (WEBMASTER'S NOTE: He fell on his knee, see Nancy's birthday party article) on stage in Brazil this week.

After a lengthy standing ovation from his 67,000 appreciative fans at the Morumbi Stadium in Sao Paulo on Sunday night, the former Beatle made an ungracious stage exit. (he was throwing picks out to the audience)

The 68-year-old tripped on some cables and fell to the floor face first before rolling over and jumping up.

But as one audience member's home video of the incident showed, plenty of fans saw the accident and gasped in horror.

But the sprightly sexagenerian quickly jumped up and carried on off the stage. (Paul did a pantomine reinactment of his fall at the second Brazil show as he was leaving the stage)

No doubt, the musician would have felt the after-effects of such a painful looking fall the following day.

During his trip to the continent, Sir Paul has struggled to leave his hotel to do some sight-seeing due to the sheer volume of fans outside.

Sir Paul played his first Brazilian gig for 18 years in Rio De Janeiro a week ago, before a two night stint in Buenos Aires, Argentina and back to Sao Paulo for two concerts on Sunday and Monday.

He enthused: 'I love South American audiences.

'I always think I have Latin blood because I connect so strongly with their love of music and their love of rhythm and their love of melody, so I always feel like I have a very big bond with South American people and Latin people in general.'

The rocker's Up And Coming Tour began in North America in March and the former Beatle has played to over half a million people.

Two of music's biggest acts paid tribute to the Pike River miners at a sold out Mt Smart Stadium on Thursday night.

There was little doubt that a band with the social conscience of U2 would acknowledge the tragedy, even during the entertainment behemoth that is their 360 tour.

"People have ways of dealing with grief, in Ireland we sing," said charismatic front man Bono before an emotional version of Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For.

They followed that with local favourite One Tree Hill as the names of the 29 dead scrolled down the massive screen at Mt Smart Stadium on Thursday night.

Earlier, hiphop mogul Jay Z dedicated Forever Young to the miners as he said "they will always be in our hearts and they will always be forever young".

Those were two moving moments in an otherwise upbeat night as U2 returned to New Zealand after an absence of exactly four years.

They've taken an audacious approach, with a claw shaped stage surrounded by rotating bridges and giant video system allowing a 360-degree view of the band, as the tour name suggests.

It ensured a fantastic perspective for the capacity crowd, but in some ways the screen above the tiny figures of the Irish foursome was almost too good and you had to drag your eyes away to find the band on the stage.

In a show of more than 20 songs there was a run through their catalogue of hits including Beautiful Day, Elevation, Vertigo, Sunday Bloody Sunday, One and With or Without You.

They were interspersed with new songs like Magnificent and Get On Your Boots off their uneven 2009 album No Line on the Horizon.

The show signalled the start of the fourth leg of their massive world tour, which upwards of four million people have seen so far. There seemed to be a few teething problems with their set and Mysterious Ways suffered through a muddled sounding backing vocal.

But with most of their biggest hits well in the past U2 still have an ability to keep things fresh and the combination of Adam Clayton on bass and Larry Mullen on drums set a punishing groove in songs like Elevation that keep Bono strutting and dancing along the rotating runways in his black leathers and sunglasses.

Four years earlier Kanye West suffered poor sound as his U2 opening gig fell flat at Mt Smart. Jay Z had no such trouble on Thursday night as a party vibe ran though hits like Izzo, Hard Knock Life, D.O.A and a massive closing number in Empire State of Mind.
