Disappointed fans miss 'Paul's drive by' at Montreal's Bell Centre tonight
Paul arrived at 4:35 pm at the Bell Centre, much later than anticipated.
His entourage of vehicles arrived from the opposite direction that Brian Riddle (head of security) told fans he would be coming from (and where barricades were set up by venue security). The majority of fans were waiting in the wrong place when Paul's car arrived. Only those near the garage entrance got a glimpse of Macca as he drove past.
There was an unconfirmed report that Paul signed an autograph while stuck at a red light as he approached the venue.
The Concert
The crowd was really into the show and Paul spoke a great deal of French (some from his teleprompter). Because of this, he didn't mention the usual bit about his guitars before "Paperback Writer" (with the only appearance of his 1964 Epiphone Casino).
He placed the Epiphone on the stage upright for John Hammel to grab after "Paperback Writer" and did some bantering with Hammel when changing guitars before "Sgt. Pepper/The End".
After "Blackbird" he noted a sign in the audience which he read: "Paul will you autograph my arm, I have an appointment with a tattoo parlour." He brought the young girl onstage towards the end of the concert just after "Yesterday" and asked her, her name. She said, "Jessica." He asked if her parents knew about the tattoo. She nodded. Paul said, "Well, she already made the appointment, so you know..." and signed her arm. She also got a nice hug and kiss on the cheek from Paul.
Paul did "Ram On" before "Something" in response to a sign request.
When the band came back on stage after "Hey Jude", Paul had the Quebec flag and Wix had the British flag.
At the end of the second encore, Paul brought another girl onstage wearing a Sgt. Pepper jacket, which he signed on the back.
As in 1989, someone gave Paul a Montreal Canadiens hockey jersey with "#1" and "McCartney" on the back.
Paul signed what appeared to be a CD cover from the right side of the stage as the confetti fell around him.

Induct WINGS into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
Should WINGS be nominated into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? There's a debate amongst Beatles/Paul McCartney fans whether Wings is covered by Paul's induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a "solo artist." Does Wings qualify as a band and are they worthy with a string of number one hits during the '70s? Should its band members be recognized for their contributions?
If you think Wings deserves to be nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame...
