Sir Paul McCartney and his ex-wife Heather Mills make up over coffee

Sir Paul McCartney and his ex-wife Heather Mills have been enjoying cosy coffee mornings - after ending their bitter feud.

Two years after a stormy divorce, the pair have put their differences aside for the sake of daughter Beatrice, six.

The People can reveal that relations between them have been improving since Christmas. Now they invite each other for weekly chats over cups of mocha whiledropping off Beatrice.

Beatles legend Macca, 66, and Heather, 41, split in 2006 after four years of marriage. Their £23.4 million divorce in 2008 was one of the most vicious in showbiz history.

But a source revealed: "It's absolutely astonishing. Paul and Heather are actually quite good friends now.

"They hated one another with a passion for such a long time. But they have both moved on and have new partners, so they decided to be civil.

"In the past, nannies and friends would take Bea from one to the other for visits. But recently they have started to do it themselves and enjoy a cup of coffee or tea at the same time.

"There is no chance of them ever getting back together but they have put all of the nastiness behind them.

"It's something neither of them ever thought would happen."

Sir Paul and Heather - dubbed Mucca for her porn model past - still live 30 miles apart in East Sussex.

He is dating millionairess Nancy Shevell, while Heather has been with toyboy Jamie Walker for two years. "

" March 27, 2010 -- KTAR.com (Phoenix, AZ)

Paul McCartney's unusual kitchen

Paul McCartney is in town this weekend for a big concert at Jobing.com Arena, and a Valley company is thinking about how the former Beatle and his entourage will get something to eat while they are in town.

McCartney and the 100 people that tour with him will be a band on the run, and it is Alan Neufeld's job to provide a kitchen for their personal chefs to use. Neufeld's company, EMK, has a mobile kitchen that is ready for the job.

"There's nothing in this kitchen that you wouldn't find in a five-star resort kitchen," Neufeld said.

The kitchen can cook food for up to 6,000 people. The company sends crews to disaster areas like fires, and currently has one feeding earthquake victims in Haiti.

"What we have us what's called 'tilt skillets,'" said Neufeld. "We can cook a massive amount of food in these things in a short period of time."

The kitchen is costing McCartney's promoters $7,000 for the weekend, but in the future the star will have his own personal kitchen that will follow him wherever he needs to go while on tour.

"This thing is scheduled to leave for Florida in the next couple of days, so we're almost nearing completion of this unit," Neufeld said.

The kitchen is just 48 feet long, but comes well-equipped.

"It has some storage up front, it also has a larger walk-in cooler," Neufeld added.

McCartney is not the only one getting the benefit of the mobile kitchen. Promoters of several tours are using them.  "

After nearly a half century in the spotlight, it's surprising to see Paul McCartney do much of anything new. How about two new things in a single night, as McCartney did while kicking off his Up and Coming Tour with a stellar sold-out show at Jobing.com Arena? Maybe I'm amazed.

The former Beatle managed to play two classic songs live for the first time on American soil in Glendale. Those songs weren't Monkberrian obscurities, either. One was "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da," a hit from the Beatles studio-only years -- the Beatles' last real concert was four years before the band's split, so a few such songs exist. The other was Wings' "Nineteen Hundred And Eighty Five," the closing track on the group's epic Band on the Run album. Wings toured extensively, making the fact that the song's live debut came more than 35 years after it was released something of a surprise.

Overall, McCartney's three-hour, 40-song show was fantastic. The new -- or at least new to American stages -- songs were just one part of the equation.

Taking stage in a simple black dress coat and slacks, McCartney opened the first date in this, the latest in his series of After the Alimony tours, with a trio of post-Beatles songs, including the Wings' hit "Jet." He took off his coat -- "the only costume change of the night," McCartney quipped -- for "All My Loving," the first of many Beatles songs sprinkled throughout the set.

"The Long And Winding Road" came accompanied by a backing video that showed an artfully grainy saguaro-studded desertscape. Here's hoping the other cities on the tour get the same treatment.

McCartney did "Blackbird" and "Here Today" alone and acoustic, with a darkened stage and a moon-shaped ball lowering behind him as he played. The effect was both beautiful and simple.

"Eleanor Rigby," on the other hand, saw one of the night's few hiccups. McCartney and Co. elected to use a backing track for the strings which came across as fake. Given the importance of the song -- some people cite it as the turning point toward the more serious direction the band took on later albums -- the blunder was especially disappointing. It left me with the same feeling as seeing a gorgeous slice of Kobe beef covered in a Cheez Whiz aioli.

On the other hand, the rendition of "Something," which Paul dedicated to George Harrison, was incredible. McCartney began the song alone, strumming the chords on a ukulele given to him by his former band mate, before the rest of the band joined in for a goosebump-inducing refrain.

"Paperback Writer" also had a nice touch, as McCartney played the song on the original Epiphone he wrote it on. The backing video, a loop of artsy book covers, all bearing various Naughty Nurse-related titles, was a little weird, however.

"Live and Let Die," which packed in all the pyrotechnics most big bands spread out over an entire show, was also memorable. The ear-wax-melting explosions at the first refrain were a nice jolt two hours in to the show, and the fireworks got everyone on their feet for the "Hey Jude" sing-along that followed.

A blistering version of "Helter Skelter" and the "Sergeant Pepper's" closed things out in solid fashion.

The thing this Phoenix crowd will probably be talking about in a year, however, is the bragging rights that come with being the first American audience to hear "Ob-La-Di" live. That's something that's truly staggering. Given that the entire Beatles catalog is less than 10 hours long, and is probably the best-known oeuvre in popular music, there's really no such thing as a "deep cut."

Considering he's been one of the most prominent musicians in the world since the early 1960s, and has toured extensively over the years, you'd think McCartney would have long-ago tapped every jug in the cellar.

The fact that he hasn't is just one more reason to appreciate him.

" Paul McCartney kicks off tour with wild night in Glendale  "

" With apologies to Ringo Starr, the Beatles' legacy couldn't have hoped to be in better hands at this late date than Paul McCartney's.

Forty years after the breakup, the former Beatle most likely to pack an arena launched his latest solo tour in Glendale on Sunday night with a three-hour set at the Jobing.com Arena that found him more than willing and able to serve as the Beatles' ambassador to the 21st century.

He was nearing the three-hour mark when he blew the dust off a ferocious "Helter Skelter" for the second encore, screaming like he hadn't aged a day since 1968, before sending the crowd on its way with a spirited medley of "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise)" and the "Abbey Road" classic "The End" (which brought the final count of Beatles songs to 22). And the only song that seemed to give him any trouble was the early Wings' hit "My Love," where he briefly struggled with the high notes. Everything else was amazingly strong and soulful, with his touring band staying just faithful enough to the original recordings without it seeming like a tribute show. Their most valuable player, other than McCartney, was drummer Abe Laboriel Jr., who proved himself a master of the tumbling Ringo drum fill while bringing a muscular sense of physicality to the table.

Wearing a collarless jacket obviously meant to conjure memories of the early Beatles, he kicked off the show with a well-chosen medley of Wings hits - "Venus and Mars," an abbreviated "Rock Show" and "Jet," the first of several songs that seemed to hold back just enough to really kick in at certain key moments.

The night's first Beatles song came next - an effervescent "All My Loving" that I'd like to think was in that spot because it was also the first song the Beatles performed in their debut appearance on "The Ed Sullivan Show." He followed with another Beatles track, reaching back to "Revolver" for "Got to Get You into My Life," with the keyboard player handling all the horn parts while footage from The Beatles: Rock Band played out on the screen behind them.

For a show so firmly rooted in nostalgia, Sunday's concert wasn't shy about reminding fans that this particular legend is still out there making records. Five songs in, he went straight from "Revolver" to the Fireman's "Electric Arguments" for "Highway," a muscular rocker whose funky central riff was not that far removed from "Taxman" territory.

The set list blew off several years of major solo hits, in fact, to get to the recent material. The most recent Top 40 appearance in the set was the medley from "Venus and Mars." But we did get his latest recording, "(I Want to) Come Home" (from the Robert De Niro/Drew Barrymore movie, "Everybody's Fine"), in addition to "Dance Tonight" from "Memory Almost Full" and another the Fireman song, "Sing the Changes."

He did play five songs from his biggest post-Beatles release, 1973's "Band on the Run," though - the chart-topping title track, "Jet," "Let Me Roll It" (among the evening's more impressive vocals), a rollicking "Nineteen Hundred and Eighty-Five" (one of several tracks that made the most of his touring band's vocal harmonies) and "Mrs. Vanderbilt," an upbeat gem that somehow made its live debut two years ago in Kiev.

The other songs selected from McCartney's solo catalog were "Letting Go," a wistful "Every Night," the heartfelt Lennon tribute "Here Today," and a truly explosive rendition of "Live and Let Die," whose over-the-top pyrotechnic display McCartney later credited to a man named Shakey (for obvious reasons).

The rest of the night was devoted to the Beatles (unless you count that little Jimi Hendrix tribute with McCartney playing lead guitar over the groove to "Foxy Lady").

He didn't mess much with the early years. "All My Loving," "Yesterday," "Paperback Writer," "Day Tripper" and "I'm Looking Through You" were, in fact, the only the pre-"Revolver" tracks, while "Let It Be" got five selections, which is weird because McCartney's always had a problem with that album - especially Phil Spector's string arrangement on "The Long and Winding Road." What's weirder still is that he had his keyboard player do the Spector string arrangement on that song (which still sounds great).

"The Long and Winding Road," the title track and "Get Back" were all pretty obvious choices, but he also dusted off two songs that should've been hit singles - "Two of Us" and a scrappy rendition of "I've Got a Feeling."

Other highlights from the Beatles years included "Blackbird," which McCartney prefaced with an anecdote about how the classic acoustic riff had grown out of his and George Harrison's attempts at playing Bach; a ukulele-driven rendition of Harrison's "Something;" "A Day in the Life" (which segued into Lennon's "Give Peace a Chance"); a rollicking "Back in the U.S.S.R." and an encore performance of "Lady Madonna."

Throughout the night, McCartney's sense of showmanship was as loopy as ever. He's still the cute one that way. And he genuinely seemed like he'd have played another hour when he told the crowd, "There does come a time where we have got to go home. And strangely, it coincides with the time when you've gotta go."

Of course, by that point, he'd already given the audience everything a reasonable Beatles fan could look for in a rock show while making a case for himself as a still-vital artist whose recent work can hold its head high in the company of all those classics.

Set list:

"Venus and Mars/Rock Show"

"Jet"

"All My Loving"

"Got to Get You Into My Life"

"Highway"

"Let Me Roll It"

"Foxey Lady"

"Long and Winding Road"

"Nineteen Hundred and Eighty-Five"

"(I Want to) Come Home"

"My Love"

"I'm Looking Through You"

"Every Night"

"Two of Us"

"Blackbird"

"Here Today"

"Dance Tonight"

"Mrs. Vanderbilt"

"Eleanor Rigby"

"Something"

"Letting Go"

"Sing the Changes"

"Band on the Run"

"Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da"

"Back in the U.S.S.R."

"I've Got a Feeling"

"Paperback Writer"

"A Day in the Life/Give Peace a Chance"

"Let it Be"

"Live and Let Die"

"Hey Jude"

Encore:

"Day Tripper"

"Lady Madonna"

"Get Back"

"Yesterday"

"Helter Skelter"

We never left our seats for the entyire 2 hours and 45 minutes. I was at both Beatles’ concerts at the bowl in 1964-65 and their gig at Dodger Stadium. This one was just incredible. What a treat for only $60 a ticket. Paul hasn’t lost a beat. The incredible pyrotechnics during “Live and Let Die” to the awesome background videos, this one is unforgettable.

There were actually five off of Let It Be, which puts it even with BOTR: Let It Be, Long and Winding Road, Get Back, Two of Us, and I’ve Got a Feeling.

My daughter attended last night’s show at the Bowl and was kind enough to let me listen in via cell phone. I was absolutely amazed by Paul’s performance, in awe over the set list, and grateful that my daughter got to see this living legend in concert! Age is just a number!! Paul McCartney ROCKS!

I’ve seen Paul 4 times over the 80’s thru the 2000’s, each time was thrilling!!
His limo pulled up next to us in traffic one time and he had his window down and was there waving and smiling,….big thrill!

A real and true ledgend!

Go Paul!!!

I just got home from the Bowl. I was in the presence of a living legend. As soon as he takes the stage his awesomness is contagious. Whomever said new bands are new, enjoy. Dude, those bands could learn a thing or two from music that has stood the test of time.
