I continue to suffer from flank pain, chronic IBS, benign fasciculation, and other stress related conditions. This includes rectal irritation, burning sensations upon urination, swollen glands, loose skin, and a very painful bile duct. Lately, this stress has caused scalp twitching, which I fear is a symptom of a major, terminal ailment. My staff of physicians has recently informed me that my prostate is in fine shape, small and smooth, but I fear they have not performed an adequate amount of tests to confirm their diagnosis. Combine this with my fear of ALS, obsessive compulsive behavior, and heightened level of paranoia.

"Happy Birthday to the greatest rock star in the greatest band that will ever be. You are simply the greatest entertainer of all time. Frauds like Dylan, Springsteen , Bono, Plant, and Macca can not hold your jock strap...they are wannabees and have been jealous of you and your band since day one. These bastards, by in large , are loved by mainstream society and press, while your accomplishments are ignored. Not even a birthday wish in a major paper!!! Yet, we , the real fans, understand these mother fuckers could not have gone on without your lead.........You paved the way and continue to do so. Look at how great you look at 66, compared to Macca(man boobs, bad plastic surgery), Plant (simply disgusting), Bono ( a small, boorish, troll faced man) Springsteen (something is going on on the top of his head) and Dylan, a wizened clown who most realize is a pathetic joke. Anyway, I digress...It is your day and please shove L'Wren my regards on your special day.

PS-Freddie Mercury ripped you off as well and had not one original idea of his own. He , off course , is always voted #1 front man by the anti-stones UK, but lets get real, the guy was a 2nd rate Liberace, and could not hold a chandelier to you."

" I read the news today oh, boy
About a lucky man who made the grade
And though the news was rather sad
Well, i just had to laugh
I saw the photograph
He blew his mind out in a car
He didn't notice that the lights had changed
A crowd of people stood and stared
They'd seen his face before
Nobody was really sure if he was from the house of lords

I saw a film today oh, boy
The english army had just won the war
A crowd of people turned away
But i just had to look
Having read the book
I love to turn you on.

Woke up, took a dump
Dragged a comb across my head
Found my way downstairs and drank a cup
And looking up, I took another dump
Found my coat and grabbed my hat
Made the bus in seconds flat
Found my way upstairs and had a smoke
Somebody spoke and took one more dump
Ah ........................................

I read the news today oh, boy
Four thousand holes in blackburn, lancashire
And though the holes were rather small
They had to count them all
Now they know how many holes it takes to fill the albert hall
I'd love to turn you on "

Let's See !!!!! :

" I once met a girl,
Or should I say
She once met me.
She showed me her room,
Isn’t it good?
Norwegian wood.
She asked me to stay and she told me to sit anywhere,
So I looked around and I noticed there wasn’t a chair.
I sat on a rug
Biding my time,
Drinking her wine.
We talked until two,
And then she said,
‘It’s time for bed’.
She told me she worked in the morning and started to laugh,
I told her I didn’t, and crawled off to sleep in the bath.
And when I awoke
I was alone,
This bird had flown,
So I lit a fire,
Isn’t it good?
Norwegian wood.  "

Recorded last year at Los Angeles' Wiltern Theatre, Warpaint Live comes exactly as advertised. It's the Black Crowes performing their latest album Warpaint live from start to finish, along with a few choice covers of songs by the Stones, Eric Clapton, and Delaney and Bonnie.

So anyway, at the time I wrote the review, this concert was only available in CD form. And although the review was a positive one, I'm now not at all sure I really gave this performance the justice it really deserves.

Having now seen, as well as heard this great show on DVD in glorious DTS surround sound (there's also a Dolby 5.1 mix), what I can tell you for sure is that hearing it on DVD is like hearing it for the first time. The sound on this DVD — particularly the DTS surround mix — brings out everything in a way the CD only hinted at. So the DVD wins that battle, hands down.

The mix of Rich Robinson and Luther Dickinson's guitars is crisp and sharp. Steve Gorman's drums crack like gunshots. And since Chris Robinson can still shout his pot-filled lungs out, the vocals come through loud and clear as well.

But Adam MacDougall's keyboards are a particular revelation. On songs like "Goodbye Daughters Of The Revolution," MacDougall summons up the spirit of the great Nicky Hopkins on piano in a way I thought was no longer possible. Not in the year 2009 anyway. At other times, like on the positively greeezy sounding "Walk Believer Walk," his organ adds the sort of thick dimension that's like pouring syrup on an already smoldering griddle.

What also becomes clear, though, is just how formidable a live band the Black Crowes have become. In my original review of the CD, I said that there was a quality to the performance that suggested sort of a looosey-goosey groove. True enough to a point. But don't let that fool you. Hearing the mix here, these guys sound as tight as a well-oiled, fully fuel-injected machine. Like I said, hearing the performance with this mix is like hearing it for the first time.
I'd also be remiss if I didn't say that Luther Dickinson is one hell of a guitar player. His slide work in particular is just jaw-droppingly good — and there is plenty of it here. From the fluid touches he adds to the gospel driven "God's Got It," to the hard riffing heard on "Wee Who See The Deep."

Basically, I already knew this was a pretty good performance — I just had no idea it was this good. After years of struggling to find a musical identity — from the early days as kind of a Faces knockoff, to their mid-period as something of a modern day Allmans or Dead — the Robinson Brothers have settled into a real nice place that really suits them well.

Call it kind of a funky, southern-fried stew that mixes the best elements of blues and gospel with the greasy southern rock of Delaney and Bonnie Bramlett and Duane-era Allmans. Whatever you choose to call it, the bottom line is it's finger-lickin' good.

I haven't talked much about the video aspect of this release because, quite frankly, while there's absolutely nothing wrong with it, there's nothing particularly special about it either. The camera work is fine, and you do get to see pretty much everyone doing their thing here. But the colors are also a bit dark and washed out looking in places — at least during the early parts of the DVD. In fairness though, this does improve as the show goes on. The shots of Chris Robinson from behind, facing the crowd with the house lights up during the encores are pretty cool looking too.

Anyway, maybe I just need to see this on one of those Blu-ray thingies.

But the sound is amazing. If you are looking to hear the Black Crowes do their album Warpaint live, and have a decent home theater set-up, skip the CD and get this. If nothing else, you don't even need to watch it. Just turn the sound up. Loud.

Best Buy opens at 10 am.

Croke Park residents are set to stage three protests tomorrow as U2 workers pack up "the Claw."

The move will cause some concern for the GAA, which is expected to announce later today that the mouth-watering All-Ireland quarter final between Dublin and Kerry will take place at HQ next weekend.

That gives the organisation just days to lay a new pitch before another 80,000 fans stream through the gates in a multi-million euro payday for the GAA.

For the pitch to be ready in time workers will have to de-rig the massive stage and all of U2's extensive equipment through the night.

GAA officials want everything to be cleared by Wednesday so that they can begin to lay the new pitch in time for the bank holiday weekend.

Locals say they have endured two weeks of big trucks and people camping outside their doors and want to highlight the "despicable" way they have been treated by Croke Park officials.

Greed

Patrick Gates, chairman of the Croke Park Area Residents Alliance (CPARA) told the Herald today that "pure greed" means they will be subjected to loud noises for 24 hours until Wednesday.

"They have taken no account of the impact they have on us. They shouldn't be working around the clock after already having three concerts in four days," he said.

Groups of residents are now set to run a go-slow in the area aimed at disrupting the large de-rigging trucks coming and going from Croke Park.

The first protest will take place at 1am tomorrow morning, followed by a second at 7 a.m. and another at 6 p.m.

"For two nights people are going to be denied sleep and it didn't have to happen," said Mr. Gates.

Summer Newsletter

Hey, everybody! I'm hoping you are well, diggin' the heck out of your gorgeous summer. I'm LOVing Santa Monica on this perfect day off.

So, here I am writing to you all from home in the middle of our Stadium tour '09 and I couldn't be much happier with the way things are right now in this moment. As a band, we are feeling better than ever.. I have to say that the boss and the guys have never been in better form. Paul is as happy as he can be and singing his heart out, doing 2 hr. 45 min shows and then hanging together, toasting and laughing as if he had merely had a walk in the park. He is the best advert for vegetarianism I can imagine!

New songs and old

So, Paul added some great new and old songs to the set and it's been a thrill to play these massive, colorful, thrilling shows.First, we rehearsed together in England for a week and then headed to NY, then off to Halifax, Nova Scotia for the first of many shows this summer..

The people there were so friendly and kind to us. What a fantastic venue, too. We played outdoors in an enormous common, a park that seemed to go on forever. We prepared ourselves in rehearsal but you can't imagine how it feels to go from a modest practice space, crowded together, to a venue like that with an ocean of smiles.

On TOP of the Ed Sullivan Theater marquee!!!

After Halifax it was back to NY where we did the Late Show with David Letterman at the Ed Sullivan Theater.

Photo taken with my iPhone on top of the Ed Sullivan Theater

Instead of playing inside, [on the stage where Paul with the Beatles debuted on Feb 9, 1964] we played on TOP of the marquee outside the deco era building, to people working in high rises with signs pressed to the windows and dancing on their desks.

What a sight... looking down Broadway to thousands of people in every direction. So funny.. they allowed one lane of traffic to drive by us.. As people saw what and who was going on, the FREAKED in their cars! And each time a city bus drove by, I could see Pablo's [our 'front of house' sound man] head drop because the sound disappeared behind the busses. Hahahahahaa! hilarious!!

We started with "Get Back" and finished with "Sing The Changes" from his great new "Electric Arguments" album. Then we did a webcast of 6 or 7 more tunes. I felt as good as you can feel [without getting arrested for it!]

On to Shea Stadium

On to a few days off, then the new Shea Stadium - Citifield in Queens, NY... Paul was the first to play in the original Shea in '64 and the last to play it, [in a guest spot with Billy Joel several months ago] so it seemed only fitting that we should open the new one, right??

Aw, MAN !!! what a vibe!! 50,000 people per night, for three nights! He sold it out in like, 5 minutes... whaaaaaat??? Ok.. that ROCKed! Thank you to our amazing crew, catering and merchandising group for everything!

Mondo Magneto now selling at Paul's merchandising stands

BTW, speaking of...Paul has invited me to sell my music in the merchandising stands at each of these shows... That guy.. wow, how cool of him is that?

So, while I'm working on my new album -"This Way Up"- I am selling my first CD, "Mondo Magneto" on Paul's tour this summer!

AND, I've had some fantastic meetings in NY with regards to my new music, playing some rough mixes for a few labels and wonderful radio people there. It has been very well received and I look forward to having a good result from all of this to tell you about -very soon- along with CD release information.

Stay tuned for more news...
Please stay tuned for news of touring with Paul and the guys, recording and a possible single... a debut from "This Way Up' in the very near future..

Rock onwards,
Brian "

U2's No Line On The Horizon was released worldwide on March 2/3, 2009, and earlier in some countries. There's already talk of another studio album coming out in 2009/2010 as a companion to NLOTH!

The following is a running collection of news, rumors, quotes, and other information related to U2's next studio album. We'll continue to post updates to this page as we get new information. If you have found a quote or news item about the new album, you're welcome to share it by emailing webmaster @ atu2.com.

ALBUM NAME: Bono told Rolling Stone the album will be called Songs Of Ascent
PRODUCER(s): unknown, but likely Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois, with additional production by Steve Lillywhite since the songs are expected to be unused tracks from No Line On The Horizon

ALBUM RELEASE DATE: Depends what you read. In this Observer article and this NY Times article, it's said the next album will be out in 2009. But in the March 17 issue of Rolling Stone, they give 2010 as the date.

FORMATS: unknown

TRACKLIST: unknown

POSSIBLE SONGS MENTIONED

These are two types of songs listed below:

1.songs mentioned in the buildup to U2's new album
2.songs believed to be unused from previous albums
It's possible that some of these titles were changed and have already appeared under a different name. It's also possible that, as song titles changes, some of these may be referring to the same song.

■"Tripoli" (unused from No Line On The Horizon)
■"Winter" (unused from No Line On The Horizon)
■"Every Breaking Wave" (Bono told Rolling Stone this is a "surging anthem" and would be the first single.)
■"If I Could Live My Life Again" - Bono says this song is "inspired by the great Argentinian poet Jorge Luis Borges." Bono said he had just begun the song while speaking with author Michka Assayas in December, 2005. Their interview appears as the extra material in the paperback version of Bono in Conversation with Michka Assayas.
■"Love Is All We Have Left" - a song Bono named during his May, 2006, trip to Africa as one that he had recently written. "It’s like an old Broadway tune. I thought it was a Frank Sinatra song," Bono said.
■"North Star," a song from the How To Dismantle an Atomic Bomb sessions which included a guest organ appearance from Michael W. Smith. In this CCM article, Smith describes the song as a tribute to Johnny Cash.
■"Mercy", one of the last songs to get cut from How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb, described in Blender magazine as "a six-and-a-half-minute outpouring of U2 at its most uninhibitedly U2-ish"
■"Lead Me In The Way I Should Go" -- a contender for Atomic Bomb first mentioned in this February, 2003, interview with Bono in Grammy Magazine
■"You Can't Give Away Your Heart" - a contender for Atomic Bomb first mentioned in SPIN magazine
