" Paul McCartney to play benefit in Atlanta park

ATLANTA (AP) — Paul McCartney is coming to Atlanta for a summer concert to benefit the city's historic Piedmont Park.

The Piedmont Conservancy that cares for the city park said Wednesday that the 67-year-old ex-Beatle will perform in the park on Aug. 15.

The show is expected to dwarf the conservancy's 2007 Dave Matthews Band and The Allman Brothers Band show that attracted 50,000.

Money raised goes to maintaining and expanding the sprawling and heavily used park in the shadow of Midtown Atlanta's skyscrapers. The park dates back to a private club founded in 1887. "

This environmental themed concert will continue to raise funds for Piedmont Park’s 53-acre expansion and on-going maintenance, while promoting environmental sustainability.

Tickets go on sale to the general public on Monday, June 29th at 10am, but if you sign up for our eNewsletter, you will receive a special code that will allow you to purchase pre-sale tickets. The exclusive, pre-sale tickets go on sale Thursday, June 25th at 10am through Ticketmaster. The ticket price is $79.50 per person.
