Greenday. Greenday blows hard. They not only blow, but they also suck. They not only suck, but they suck with teeth.

Thank you.

While not a big fan of them, I strongly disagree. How much of your opinion is about the music, or the subject matter of the last album.
They draw off some good bands, while not going overboard ie: Clash, SLF's and Ramones.
to each their own, I can't stand some bands too... I've been amking a serious effort this year to explore alot of bands I've been prejudiced twoards, by actually sitting and listeing to their albums straight through...
including, but not limited to
REM, Elvis Costello, Coldplay, Tom Petty... all of these are people i've not listened to in years, disliked for no real reason or gave up on... I made it a point to listen to the albums they've released in 2008. It's part of my being open minded, if i'm claiming I love rock and roll, and not hating on it too much. I have to admit, regardless of my feeling about the album or artist after, I actually feel better, letting go of the hate, and i'm liking what I love, even more.
I'm just saying... in case anyone wants to try it. Riffy, is an exception, he works in radio, and that might change alot....

Green Days sucks.

REM,  Steely Dan,  XTC, a handful of others - all that "we're too smart for this" stuff sucks.  Fucking douchebags.

Eagles, of course.

Ted Nugent, Damn Yankies, Styx, Night Ranger, all those queers all suck a lot of dick.

Motley Crue sucks.

Queen sucks like real bad.  That stuff could gag a maggot.

Coldplay continues to suck.

That guy Scott Stamp and his "band" suck.  Creed.

Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit, Korn, Insane Klowns, that whole "genre" sucked bad while it was around.

Yes, Starship, ELP, Kansas, all that fishdick stuff pretty much sucked.

I wouldn't say that I "hated" any band. However, you're right Pdog, playing Greenday songs professionally isn't easy. Not easy at all. Nickelback is even worse. My loathing of Greenday's music isn't based on any political leanings they have. No rather, it's based on the fact that I can't get over their attempt at trying to be a modern day Clash. They are so lacking in that department it's laughable. I believed that Joe Strummer and Mick Jones meant it. Greenday is more interested in the image of the whole psuedo punk vibe. In other words I don't believe a damned thing they say. Not to mention the fact that their best song wouldn't even be considered decent when compared to any cut from London Calling.

I actually really like early Green Day. Dookie was a great album. They started as a pop-punk band and just transformed into emo/pop, which sucks.

They DO, however, have a pretty cool side project called the Foxboro Hot tubs. Give it a listen.

not much can stand next London Calling... There's entire Stones albums that look pale next to LC...
Is there anything new you've discovered you like, by new I'd say post 2004 releases? Or anything old that you discovered as new? Or, anything old you recently re-discovered?
I listened to so much DBT, I dug up Skynyrd and been digging it.
People hate on Prog, but I gotta admit, i'll listen to Yes. And i love Tool, and they are prog as hell, and Maynard is a flamer in thr highest order, and I think Tool rocks.
i'm just saying, can we talk about what we like about rock and roll?
I think everyone is this thread, that is talking about bands that suck, need a homework assignment.
This weekend you have to get an album. 40 to 60 mons of your life. Sit down, and just listen to it. Then make a post about that album, and what you thought about it. I don't care what it is, new old, same old tired Exile review, whatever. You guys need to revisit what you love about rock and roll, and talk about it, like we used to...

Got on a little REM jag after picking up 'Accelerate'.
That album reminded me of what I loved about them back in the day.

They fell off my radar after 'Up', which was like listening to paint dry.

But the new one made me reach for the early stuff when Stipe muttered and Pete Buck's Rickenbacker just jangled.

'Murmur', 'Reckoning', 'Fables Of The Reconstruction', 'Life's Rich Pageant' and 'Document' all sounded great again after collecting dust for a looong time.

'Dead Letter Office' is in my car CD player...

right wing country music annoys the fuck out of me! Trace Adkins in particular.

And Kid Rock! WTF??????? He disgusts me more than any American act since

Greenday annoy me because the singer sounds like he's got a pea in his nose. American's idea of "punk" is so funny to see.

This list of who i could hate is too long. I hate everyone except the Stones, Who, Neil Young, some Doors, and various other snippets of life.

In fact, i kind of hate all music lately. It's all very lame and contrived. Except for Miley Cyrus. She's a talent that girl is!

You might be a liberal, but you ain't open minded...  i dare you, to openly discuss, something new or new to you fot he first time, or are you going to be the typical white person rock music critic... C'mon, move to the back of the bus and check out a new perspective, it don't cost much and you don't lose the music you already love. Looks like two things are standing in-between you and my challenge to board members. Fear and common sense!

Kid Rock is one of the many abominations that dominate radio airwaves today.  Every time I hear that god awful Warren Zevon/Lynyrd Skynard hybrid song, I want to take two large icepicks and drive them through my eardrums.  Fucking horrible.

I hear you, man.  Except I want to use icepicks on people who suport that stuff.  That song just disgusts me.
