Kid Rock's new album Rock n Roll Jesus:

Wow. I can't believe I'm typing this but ....I am really digging Kid Rocks new album Rock n Roll Jesus. I don't take him seriously really (..does anybody?...), and I certainly never did. Nor did I really love any of his music... but I gotta say, this new album of his is a darn good album.

I am impressed and it is of the best music I have heard in two years.

Don't tell me Kid Rock just turned me into some what of a Kid Rock fan with this album? Now I am getting worried. Yikes.

Say what you will, it really is a nice work. Listened to it today, and I want to hear it again already. I have a feeling it may just be this years favorite album for me. It is a mix of funk, rock, a touch of gospel all wrapped up in a southern fried package. I was impressed from the first listen. "Roll On" should be released as a single (if they had proper sense)

I am calling like I hear it folks. It really is a good album all the way. There's only a single sub-par track.

Kinda crazy I know ...it's Kid Rock...someone I might of chuckled at just 24 short hours ago. Now I am saying how much I'm digging his album Rock n Roll Jesus. Gotta give credit where it is due and it's "due" on this album.

I'm sitting here directly after hearing this album and I am surprised.

I'm old enough to remember when the Jesus Freaks burned Rock-n-Roll records...

Took them a while to figure out there's money to be made in it, & Hallelujah! Praise the Lord & plug in the Strat...

For real gospel music check out Shape Note singing, there are 2 good examples in Cold Mountain, you'll have standing hairs on your goosebumps from the harmonies they come up with...

You're not the only one thinking the same: the album is selling shitloads thanks to that rip-off song that the damn radio plays all day.

Overall, he's not as bad as he seems in some of his early albums.  But that new bit All Summer Long is the bottom of the barrel for him though - blatant and poor imitation of Drive By Truckers, right down to the change in his voice.  And silly ass lyrics about stuff the never happened in the Summer of 1989 in Northern Michigan - no one has ever had sex in Northern Michigan, for Christ's sakes.

I was reluctant to even play it. Not so much because it was Kid Rock but because I really didn't think I could take it much. I had no idea I would like it, especially this much. It sat here for two days before I was bored and said OK why not I'll at least throw on something sort of unusual even for me.

Sure the lyrics are silly at times but song writing wise and musically it is quite a good album. I liked it from the start. The music is exciting and "alive" sounding. Like I said  ..I call em like I hear em.

I will. I like all sorts of stuff. I can appreciate almost anything if it is well done and not really "dicky" (although I do realize Kid Rock is quite juvenile but I do dig this album). If it is done well I'll play it and appreciate it for what it is

No. It is not quite as good as ABB. Kid Rocks best album cannot even tople The Stones in their 60's.

ABB was "alive" sounding as well. My guess is Rock n Roll Jesus was recorded digitally (as was A Bigger Bang). Rock n Roll Jesus sounds like some tracks were later ran through/mixed down through a warmer board back to Pro Tools (or some other recording software program) again to thicken things up where they needed it before it was mastered.

This is how you get a sharper loudness while at times retaining thicker over and undertones in the final.

I like Kid Rock.
But you have to be careful.
Remember that midget that toured with him.
He died.

The "unofficial" cause of death?
Too much racially-confused, midwestern pseudo angst, needs me a doublewide fo all my hos, rap exposure.

Be careful Ian.
I'd hate to see RO's premier poster lost to a similar fate.

Now if you will all excuse me, I think I will get a Confederate flag tattooed on my John Thomas....

LOL.

I was kinda worried how that sounded. It can certainly seem humorous (almost as if Kid Rock is a "force" of some sort).

It was not meant in any such light, really. What I was saying is that it is pretty sad that a younger, so called "bad-boy" in todays music has little chance against our originals... which are all in their 60's.

I was trying to say that today's best music, simply cannot compare to the past ....for example our Rolling Stones still can do better than even that much...which by today's standards is pretty darn good.

See what I'm saying.

As for PEARL Jam ...Yeah. BUT they DO have "IT".....so to speak. It is "rollin" and hitting it nice and everything. I am just sayin, Kid Rock surpassed all of my expectations. I thought it would be"fair" at best...more over I thought it would be silly to seriously consider (his last album) but it is actually pretty darn good.
