"Dangerous Beauty" Lyrics Question ...from Ian

I have these lyrics to Dangerous Beauty:

"Well you're a dangerous, dangerous
A dangerous beauty
Yeah, disdainfully, painfully
A bit of booty, yeah "

*I always thought the line was quoted as "disdainfully, painfully beatin up booty"??? ...hence the S&M reference or ....the Military lady who mis-treated those Iraqi prisoners (it can be taken as either or, as those lyrics and the whole song is intended to be that way).

Now I see in quite a few places it is listed as "disdainfully, painfully a bit of booty"?

Does anyone know which it is for sure? If so can you name the source.

it's about that Abu Garib chick, whatever her name was... She's lucky she got such a great title with "beauty" in it. She's far from hot...
I'd answer your question, but I don't know what sites you're getting the lyrics from to begin with... So this question is kind of moot.

I would strongly suggest opening up the Bigger Bang CD, and reading the lyrics printed inside...

"It is painfully plain to us, you're doing your duty"

Yeah, I knew who it is about and yeah your right he  ...erhhhm "she" rather, is pretty rough around the edges.

I lent my CD out six days ago to a younger chap that is a lyricist. Told him there was some "cheeky" stuff in that tune he might appreciate. This is the whole reason this came to mind.

Thanks though,

Ian

PS: Called a friend who has it and yes, it is "beating up booty", straight from the inside of the CD.
However most  websites (almost all of them) say it is "a bit of booty". Just do a search on Google and almost all of them have it listed this way. However, now I can assure you that's not correct. My friend is darn reliable and he positively read it straight from the CD artwork that comes with it as I specifically asked him about it just now.

Lynddie England.

And yes, the reference to her being a 'beauty' is tongue in cheek to put it mildly.

Excellent song, and a riff that was made to be performed live...

which ,of course, never happened.

Lynddie Englands charges of prisoner abuse were almost dismissed when the jury couldnt tell on which end of the leash was the dog.

Yes, Dangerous Beauty is just such a strong song. Talk about power chords, in your face rock, and hard hitting Rolling Stones. It may be my personal favorite off of ABB. Excellent! Never knew they could sound this good again. Great song, great lyrics to fit it.

Yeah, I know now to some the weight of ABB has worn off. But it IS really good and should not be over-looked or now under-rated just because time has gone by. It impressed the heck out of us (and still does me) during it's earlier days.

Gazza's remarks about hearing Dangerous Beauty for the first time: ..."talk about power chords, forget about Start Me Up"

Gazza's remarks about hearing Laugh I Nearly Died for the first time: "Sweet Jesus"

Not that I document everything everyone says or that I'm trying to establish any kind of argument. I know you realize and you have stated you were thrilled with it at first and still note it as being a good album. I know you realize you noted it as being probably their best effort since Tattoo You upon hearing it but looking back at it feel a little differently. You have stated that clearly. I understand your view.

I am just stating that I think since time has gone by, it is getting under-rated now. I think it is what it is and still is what it was when it first came out. For me, I'd say it is better than just "good".  I'd say it is VERY good and quite impressive, and that goes if came from any group of any age.

Yep....whilst my enthusiasm for the album has cooled a little overall (still really like it though), I still think those two songs are excellent.

'Dangerous Beauty' could have been a latter day 'Start Me Up' (not that i think SMU is a great song - but it became instantly memorable due to a very catchy riff), but unfortunately they bottled out of playing it or simply didnt give a bollocks.

Laugh I Nearly Died is simply an absolute fucking brilliant song. Easily their best since 'Continental drift'.

Another cool thing about "Dangerous Beauty" is that it was far more effective, because more subtle, a "protest song" than "Sweet Neo Con."

yep. Sweet NeoCon merely comes across as a bit of mischief written by a 12 year old with access to a swearing dictionary. Puerile buffoonery masquerading as witty finger-pointing.

Put those two things together and you've got clear proof The Stones are liberal, socialist, left wing nut jobs... And I think that is fucking awesome. I remeber a good friend of mine who posts here, going off about Green Days American Idiot album... Haha, at that time, the Bush supporters still held out the possibility The Stones weren't of the same mind, as when they wrote songs like SFM & Gimme Shelter...
See where i'm going?

Hey Ian, you ever get your CD bakc from your lyricist friend? Worst fucking, cover up excuse I've ever seen, and I've seen some real good ones.

Thanks. I'm a big fan of ABB. It doesn't take you to some far away place. It doesn't get emotional (over all). It simply rocks and does it loudly in your face. That is what we needed from them on that effort. They delivered strongly.
