I thought the fuss was about the latest Obama issue. Check it out. The New Yorker is trying to pass it off as a satire, naturally. However, do you think they wanted to get the message across any way they could?

Regardless,

If you are in the public eye the press can do these things, and will. They have done it to every president/ or real major presidential candidate before.

I suppose it goes with the territory.

Any news around here? Impending tour? Eddie run out of gas? Wolfie loose his virginity yet? Highwire Rob lose his virginity yet?

sometimes satire is offensive to some

it's still satire

OBVIOUSLY

I hate political correctness and European-type restrictions on expression

I'm off to see David Irving now at Harvard--something else the Euro-weenies and PC-types would not allow if they had their druthers

OK now

Again, I'm not saying their portrayal in this image is correct, true, or has any substance. I'm simply asking if you feel The people of the New Yorker wanted to get their point across by over-doing it and playing it off as nothing more than pure satire. In other words does anyone here feel the magazine and it's "higher ups" really feel this way about the Obama's, or at least some-what view them in this direction and wanted to get their point across so they chose a National "Lampoonish" style satire to mask their intentions in order to do such? Personally, I'm not saying they did or didn't. In addition, I am not saying The Obama's are as the picture suggests. I am simply curious on the boards thoughts on this.

That's my question?

Ian

I agree with you that their message is abundantly clear.  Which begs the question as to why you essentially asked, and are still asking, whether it is clear or not.

The reason I asked you "What message?" was because I assumed, based on all of your previous posts, that the message would be completely lost on you.

I was right.

Obama's goal, and those who made him this, is to destroy America. This began decades ago in the U.S.S.R., and was taken over by A.Q. ten years ago. They have decieved everyone, and created the man who will be our end, by taking over the govt. from its highest office. Obama doesn't even know it. At a time of "their" chosing, they set off a signal and it triggers the locked part of their plan buried deep in barracks subconscious.
You might be asking, what will happen... It is to frightening to imagine. Basically women will be forced to wear lots of clothes, then everyone works 12 hour days 7 days a week. All private property is stripped and citizens rights are taken away. Within ten years, we will all be under the control of an Islamic dictatorship, with communist ideals. China's final card to play is getting Barry elected, then that hammer falls...
Don't say you weren't warned, don't let another intel report go ignored... This will be far worse then September 11th... it will be 911 times 1000.
Yes, 911,000...

In other words ....was this "message", which is clearly obvious in their charactered portrayal of the  Obama's actually meant to further tarnish Obama's reputation, by doing this supposed harmless satire while acting as if it only intended to poke fun of the folks who perceive them in this light? That is my question sirmoonie. If this is indeed the case, then this situation would really be considered politically ironic.

Whether you know it or not, you are asking whether the editors of The New Yorker believe Obam is an Islamic, flag burning, terrorist fist jabber type.  I dunno Billen, I'm still trying to figure out why no one believes my unbaselifiedical allegations regarding Obam and El Rukn.
