Tour in 2010?
Jul 13th, 2008 at 4:43pm
Alert Board Moderator about this Post!
The Stones aren't going to tour for over a year so Woody has a window of opportunity; Rod has a window approaching. "My window is ever being opened and shut but I'll open that window and climb through it to work with The Faces anytime, and Kenney's up for it," he said.

Found this on the BBC--interesting quote, looks like the Stones are not going to tour in 09, but if you read between the lines, looks like 2010 is a good bet for them to tour again. Maybe wishful thinking but lets hope....

er, yeah but that story was doing the rounds before Ronnie's latest little escapade, Chris.

Dont think it implies the Stones wont tour in 2009 at all - especially as their tours tend to start in the last few months of a year.

I think the Stones and the Faces are the least of Ronnie's concerns at the minute....or at least they should be.

If Ronnie isnt capable of touring I have my doubts as to whether they'd attempt to bring in anyone at this late stage.Or the couldplug Waddy in back stage and just add one more to the "extras" package.Along with Blondie it might be amusing yet sad to see Keith standing and posing while all this guitar sound drones away.At their collective ages now 2010 is really a ways off.

I have recurring dreams that I'm at a Stones concert and I recently had a dream where someone told me they were never going to tour again. Can't help but go with my gut on that one although I would love to be proven WRONG!! haha. Is it a sacrelige to break the suspension of disbelief we all have here on the board about another tour???
Ouch!

Dudes are very old.

I think Mick's possible solo album could be the only music news from the Stones camp in the rest of the decade.  Blank Frigging Stare

2010??  What are they going to do, wait until they are dead?  You know they're no spring chickens.  I would have thought they would get together in 2009.  Let's get out a new album guys and tour.  Who stole this one? (Seriously)

Could they bring in Ry Cooder?  Derek Trucks?  Albert Lee?   Andy Fairweather-Low?   Cooder's worked with Mick before, so it wouldn't seem so strange to see him on stage with the Stones during a show.

Cooder and Keith hate each others guts.

The fact that the Stones have in recent days signed a new record contract pretty much automatically rubber-stamps their intentions to tour again, regardless of whether or not Woody is up to the task.

According to a poster on IORR, someone he knows bumped into Ronnie at the weekend - he was on a day out from rehab, apparently (!!) - and Woody stated that the Stones would be touring from April 2009.

http://www.iorr.org/talk/read.php?1,949869

He also said that he was getting clean, then doing a Faces tour - if he's going to make a new Stones record and get ready for a tour due to begin in 8 months time, it would suggest he's going to be extremely busy.

Either that or he still has a lot of alcohol in his system.....

Normally this would ellicit a tingle from me.
But why the Hell would Ronnie be out on a pass already?! I dunno. I just want him to stay in Rehab and make it WORK this time.

i don't know if the stones will tour in 2010 or not but this is what i have been thinking as of late.
ron wood might be touring with the faces and that would be great.

you see i strongly feel the stones won't tour again until/unless they  record a new cd...that just what i think.  maybe it doesn't have to be a full length deal e o...maybe some idea similar to the 40 licks cd when they did us for 4 new songs.  and then had us second mortgaging our houses for tickets... Are you fucking serious?

if they did go out on tour without a few new songs keith would be contradicting himself and would be resting on the laurals.  thats their deal e o...they don't or aren't supposed to do that.

know what i'm saying?

You rock!

Yes, but Universal didnt throw an eight figure advance their way for them to just go back on the road without having fresh product in tow.

And any band - or any fans following a band - who would be desperate enough to see any artistic sense in a second greatest hits tour just 7 years after the previous one may as well give up.

Well if Gazza is right as he usually is, the new label will expect a new release of some new material. But we havent heard MICK and KEEF are together writing some new songs ~ ok they have half-baked songs in 'the vault' so maybe its time to unlock the vault and get to work on this. Wouldnt they need to put out a new CD before the tour could start? It took them almost a year for ABB to finish and release it. So they need to start this soon for a 2009 release of a new CD and a tour. It could be done, but they have to start something soon unless they want to call the tour 'THE BIG REPEAT TOUR' with nothing new to offer the fans! The same songs redone in the form of a new CD is of course is a possibility, repackage the old songs again.

Maybe we should have two polls.

The first one should be called:-

What we would LIKE the Stones to tour on the back of.

1) A new material release.
2) A 40 licks type of release with 4 or so new tracks.
3) A blues cover version cd.
4) No release at all just get on the road ffs!

The 2nd poll could then be what we THINK they will do.

My choice would be a blues cover cd, that really appeals to me.

i think eventually they'll do a small tour behind a new album, but the album will get the same response and treatment by the band as ABB did,  unless Keith ups his game and pulls his share of the songwriting and improves his enthusiasm
