Quote from Craig Finn about opening for the Stones at Slane last year:

Did you get a kick out of supporting The Rolling Stones at Slane in 2007?

"We didn't meet the Stones, but when Mick Jagger came out and 'We want to thank The Hold Steady' -- I've got to tell you, I got huge chills. I thought they were fantastic. I was standing down the front in the crowd. We enjoyed performing, but I don't think people go to The Rolling Stones to check out the support."

Yeah, I've heard that most support acts don't get anywhere near the Stones.

You'd think they'd get their own "meet & greet" if only for a few minutes.

“What rap did that was impressive was to show there are so many tone-deaf people out there,” he says. “All they need is a drum beat and somebody yelling over it and they’re happy. There’s an enormous market for people who can’t tell one note from another.” - Keef

i know a couple of the guys in The Cruel Sea who were the support for the Voodoo Lounge tour here and that's what they got - introductions all ruond and that was that

later Tex Perkins their front dude , when asked what it felt like supportiing the Stones, said "we felt like five fleas on a dog's back"
