I'm glad your poll recognizes drinking, starbolf.  I don't think the public at large understands the hours of practice, dedication, and sacrifice it takes to drink at the professional level.  Plus it's the only sport that whitey can compete in head to head with blacks.

son, i don't know what the hell crowd you been hangin round, but the average black man could drink you under the table.

i went to grad school in britain and tried to convert some of my european friends to football and baseball. baseball was too complex for them...they couldn't see the genious in it....and they laughed at all the padding on the football players. they couldn't grasp the concept that you needed the padding when a 6'3'' 240 lb free safety is barrelling at you at full spead, throwing his entire massive body at you like a javelin in the hopes of knocking you unconsious so he can grab the loose ball and run for six.

If you want a sport with some tough guys. How about Drag racing. Scott Kalitta,an NHRA Funny Car driver whose family has long been associated with the sport was killed over the weekend at a race in New Jersey when his engine blew up halfway down the run and his chute didn't come out and he crashed into a retaining wall at 300 MPH. Not a pretty site and about the 3rd driver to die in the last 4 years or so.

Dunno about tough, but it definitely takes some onions to have 8000 nitromethane guzzling horses at your feet. Them folks are a whole 'nother breed.

Been a big fan my whole life, and E-town is my local track.
Can hear the nitro cars from my house - which is several miles away...

Didn't hear anything late Saturday afternoon, and then I found out why on ESPN.  Sad

RIP Scott.

Wait a minute here. Left Shoe Shuffle, are you saying that you are a Jersey Shore local? I was unaware of that. Do you live in Englishtown?

Not Englishtown, Riffy.
But I did buy my Giants Super Bowl hat there.  Grin

Further up 18.
Somewhere in the swamps of Jersey, as it were...

Well close enough really. I guess I always figured that if you're in the Rat Radio listening area you're Down The Shore. However, yes, a bit further up 18. So where ya from? Englishtown? Old Bridge?

I play friend who works for an NHRA team.  I went to an event to check out the scene.  After the event, we all went to a bar.  John Force showed up.  For being the biggest name in his sport, you would never know it.  The guy was priceless.  He had a great sense of humor and was very down to Earth.

I hosted an event at Raceway Park in Englishtown, New Jersey (where the driver died the other day) and John Force was at the event. I had the chance to meet him and talk with him for a bit. You're right, the guy is so down to earth. He asked me if we played Elvis at my radio station. I told him that we didn't and he looked hurt! LOL! I quickly gained his trust when I told him that I thought Heartbreak Hotel was one of the greatest rock and roll songs ever written, and that Elvis' performance of it was priceless. He just slapped me on the back and talked about Elvis for the the next twenty minutes. Even when I tried to steer the conversation back to funny cars all he wanted to talk about was Elvis. Very funny and gregarious guy. On another note, at this same event I got to ride in Gravedigger! Very cool, but as I couldn't be strapped in to a five point restraint there was no way that I could crush any cars. Would have loved to have had the chance though!

LOL!  When I met Force in the bar, he had the DJ play about 10 Elvis songs.  He asked me if I liked Elvis, of course I told him yes.  I asked him if he liked the Stones, because they are the greatest ever....he said yeah, they are pretty good.

Australian Rules Football rules! Though i have to admit, i am losing interest. Doesnt mean as much to me as it used to. My team not doing as well as expected doesnt faze me. I just have other interests now. I still like to watch footy though, as it's not as boring as so-called other "football" games.
