I guess this should be early 70 in Italy, where Mick , Anita and Keith spent vacations after the 69 American tour.
Well it says it was shown at the 1969 Venice Film Festival, so it would probably have been shot in late 1968/early 1969 by my reckoning, because :
1) Mick and Keith wrote 'Midnight Rambler' on holiday in Positano, Italy - and the first recordings of that song date from February 1969.
2) Marianne left Jagger for Schifano during the Stones '69 American tour - they were reconciled around Christmas 1969. I'd be surprised if Jagger would have had much to do with Schifano after that.
3) In early 1969 "Street Fighting Man" was the lead cut from the Stones recently released album. Would have made sense for them to be doing some promotional work around that song at that time - not a year later, by which time they had released 'Let It Bleed'.
4) Jagger used a moog synthesizer when recording the music for Kenneth Anger's film "Invocation of My Demon Brother" in November 1968
Gazza, you are right, the film seems to have been release in 1969, so no question about it.
1) don't get the connection here with Midnight Rambler.
2) I dont think that Mick care about it, he was occupied fucking Anita

3) the song was really hot and Schifano want it for sure in his movie as well

4) Keith took the opurtunite when Mick was out and hope nobody was looking..
