That list is a bit too 'rawk' and white orientated.
Cant see how any list of legendary bass players can omit Donald "Duck" Dunn of Booker T & The MG's and ESPECIALLY the great James Jamerson, Jr., who played on most of the classic Motown hits from that era.
I'll add Tommy Cogbill to that list. This might be the most prolific,
unknown bassist of the rock era...
All of Aretha's Muscle Shoals stuff (Never Loved a Man, Respect, Natural Woman, Chain of Fools, Since You've been Gone, Baby I love You and all the others..)
Wilson Pickett: Funky Broadway (one of best, funkiest bass lines ever), Land of the Thousand Dances, Mustag Sally etc..
Elvis (Kentucky Rain, SUspicious Minds etc)
Dusty Springfield's Son of a Preacher Man.....and more...
He was low-key guy, quiet, humble, a southern gentlement from Memphis....unfortunately he died in 80....
Samply cut: This is just some kid playing along with the record, but he highlights the bass line....
