" SPOKANE, Wash. – The mysterious mewing in Vickie Mendenhall's home started about the time she bought a used couch for $27.

After days of searching for the source of the noise, she found a very hungry calico cat living in her sofa.

Her boyfriend, Chris Lund, was watching TV on Tuesday night and felt something move inside the couch. He pulled it away from the wall, lifted it up and there was the cat, which apparently crawled through a small hole on the underside.

Mendenhall contacted Value Village, where she bought the couch, but the store had no information on who donated it. So she took the cat to SpokAnimal CARE, the animal shelter where she works, so it could recover, and contacted media outlets in hopes of finding the owner.

Sure enough, Bob Killion of Spokane showed up to claim the cat on Thursday after an acquaintance alerted him to a TV story about it. Killion had donated a couch on Feb. 19, and his 9-year-old cat, Callie, disappeared at about the same time . "

On Tuesday night I went to the Omaha Tweetup at the Brazen Head Irish Pub. It was a lot of fun. It was great chance for about 40 of us Tweeple from Omaha to meet up and talk person to person, without the computers. People from all walks of life came developers, yogis, lawyers, marketers and more. Early adopters all, and it was a lot of fun.

To my suprise this morning it was in the OWH. Check out the story here. Thanks Stefanie Monge for the great story and Christine Pagan for the great shot. And yes, you are not mistaken.

Presentation: 1 – I was going to give it a zero but there was real Guinness in the plastic cup so I couldn’t.

Overall Comments: The Brazen Head certainly lived up to its name by brazenly positioning themselves as a true Irish pub and then slapping two Dixie cups of Guinness on the table without so much as a second thought. We chose them, after all, to be the inaugural stop on our tour, because they are among the first that come to mind when you think of Irish pubs. I thought for sure they would be the place to which all others would be compared. Well, we WILL compare all others to them, my friend. “Not as crappy as the Brazen Head” is now the default ranking all other establishments in Omaha will receive from me.

Overall Comments: All you need to know about the Brazen Head is that they put Guinness in a plastic cup.  I know, I know.  It was $2 beer night and Jeff and I happened upon them an hour or so shy of the frat party that the bar (no, I won’t call it a pub) eventually turns into.  And true, after the appalling 12 ounces of plastic shrouded Guinness was begrudgingly swilled, we did ask our server to bring us the $5.10 variety and it was a good, tasty pour.  But the question that remains is this…should we have to ask for glass?  Is the abuse inflicted on an elegant and complex beer justified by a smaller bill, therefore causing the plastic cup travesty to become so inconsequential that it doesn’t even need to be explained?  No indeed.  It never crossed our minds that the Brazen Head would consider such a traitorous act.
