It is an embarassment of riches isn't it Lefty? The best part about it is,it doesn't just look good written down. But sounds damn good when he plays it. Let's go get drunk

Maybe, I was lost in translation someswhere, but that was one hell of a fucking setlist, pardon my French.   I wouldpay a lot more to go to Hershey, if I had that set.

Being somewhat of a setlistoligist...That's the real cool thing. One tour premiere, but a deep revolving list of old favorites and rarities...I mean can you imagine The Stones all of a sudden busting out Winter....And playing it well. Boring post you made a grown man cry

Got that from Backstreets. Gazza wasn't kidding. Hell by the time he gets there,he may be sitting somewhere in Austria. Grin

Damn, 29 songs?! Hope he and Mrs. Gazza were wearing their comfortable shoes! And I hope he gets something "special" tomorrow night - quality vs. quantity, after all.

Nice setlist Mr. & Mrs. G got tonight! "Adam Raised A Cain" is an asskicker. Always loved that Doorsy bit at the end.

And Good God, "The River" - another tearjerker for me. Rounded out nicely by "Candy's Room" and "Bobby Jean."

And of course Gaz got in "the pit" tonight!
Good on ya, Gaz!  Cool

Anyway...my best friend (The lovely Miss Nikki) has arrived at my house.   We are leaving in the morning to see Waits in Columbus,  It is a first for both of us.

I dunno, I think he may have got the best two shows of the tour in Dublin. Bruce broke out some great shit. Nothing like three nights in the same town to mix up the setlist!

Either way, he got the best two shows of the tour.

Me too, SCL...a little something like "NYC Serenade!"  I doubt they'll do it though (and I'd love to be proven wrong). It's hard bringing that one off live. Most of it is just vocal, strings, piano and acoustic guitar.

Hey, I'd be happy with "Sandy" or "Thunder Road" at this point. Giants is gonna be rockin'.

By the way, DVD1 of Milan is up on Dime:

Two amazing shows, to put it mildly. Was a bit too late for the pit in Milan but we were against the fence just behind it which was in some ways more comfortable. In Paris we were 2 or 3 from the rail on the side of the stage..Bruce came down very close to us a few times.

Tried to call a few people from the shows, but was having some problems with the cellphone, so apologies to some folks if you didnt get a text or a call.

Was nice to get so many changes in Paris, I think it was about 8-9 songs which is quite a lot for two one-night stands about 400 miles apart. He must have played about 3-4 fan requests at each show. A funny moment in Paris when he held up a sign (given by a fan as a request) to the band for "Fire" and they then started playing "I'm On Fire" before he stopped them and said "No, Not 'I'm on Fire' - FIRE!". The highlight for me of the two shows was probably the version of "For You" from Paris which was played solo at the piano. Absolutely stunning.

The sound bounced around a bit at times in both venues, especially Milan, but it wasnt much of a problem. This was the first time I'd seen him overseas and the Italian crowds are everything they're made out to be. They get there early, and they're up on their feet throughout. The enthusiasm is evidently mutual. The San Siro concert had an 11.30 curfew and just before curfew time (remember that Bruce was fined £80,000 in London for exceeding a curfew by four minutes), just when we were expecting the final song "American Land", he threw in "Bobby Jean" as an audible, followed it with "American Land" and then added a lengthy "Twist & Shout" for good measure before calling it a night at 11.50. Three hours exactly and 29 songs - the longest show of the tour - incredible energy in 90 degree heat for a man just three months shy of his 59th birthday. I thought Milan shaded Paris in terms of greatness and of the 6 shows I've seen this tour would be up there with the 3rd night in Dublin for the honour of best gig I've seen all tour.

A couple of Americans who I talked to reckoned his demeanour seems a bit different in Europe. A lot more goofing around and being relaxed with the audience (and thats saying something by Bruce's standards) and they were surprised to see how at ease he is about going almost into the crowd and letting them paw at him (I know that he lets the folks in the front row play his guitar during 'Born to run' but some of the antics at the European shows are akin to a cross between foreplay and outright molestation...)

Maybe he's just havin' more fun without the missus being around.

Yes, when I saw him I thought he was somewhat reserved. This is all making me look forward to taking GTRM on that idea of some Euro Stones shows.

Well I mentioned that in Sacramento, when he played Spirit In The Night,he sat on the very front of the stage with his feet dangling in the crowd. It might have been the first song of the show, but it looked like Bruce was getting a happy ending.  Tongue

Maybe with the political side of things being more of an issue in the US it makes things more intense on his part, whereas when youre playing a stadium show (especially in a country where English isnt the first language) theres a bit more effort required to get a crowd of 60-70,000 people worked up and entertained. I dont know if I've ever seen a show where I've found him reserved, to be honest.

Anyway, another marathon length performance in Copenhagen tonight. Damn, I missed "Something In The Night" (one of the songs I really want to see played live) by one show.

1) Two Hearts
2) Radio Nowhere
3) Out on the Streets
4) Promised Land
5) Spirit in the night
6) Blinded by the light (request from crowd )
7) Something in the night
8) Trapped
9) Gypsy Biker
10) Working on the Highway
11) Hungry Heart
12) Because the night
13) She's The One
14) Livin In the Future
15) Mary's Place
16) I'm On Fire
17) Downbound Train
18) For You - piano, solo
19) The Rising
20) Last to Die
21) Long Walk Home
22) Badlands

23) Jungleland
24) 7 nights to rock
25) Born to Run
26) Ramrod
27) Bobby Jean
28) Dancing in the Dark
29) American Land

Next stop. First of two Gothenburg shows, on Independence Day. I wonder what song he'll open with.......
