Check that, robpop.
$400 will get you a ticket to four Springsteen shows.

unbelievably wonderful show, last night, at the Emirates. Smiley

straight up, pure, rock and roll.
A Value for money ticket price, unrivalled, by anyone, at this time.

No fireworks, catwalks, overblown backdrops and theatrics.

A great, great show, one of the very best, in a stadium i've ever seen. Smiley

And a sobering truth, for us Stones fans...
on last nights form, Bruce and his band, blew The Stones out of the water.

..i'd love to be going to London #2 ,tonight, but it's not possible  - but the memories of last night, will
last a very long time, indeed.

Hopefully, an 'archivist'/ 'preservationist', has captured the evening forus all to enjoy again.

...and yes, Meg, i am truly Brucified.  Smiley

No. Only a totally at-ease and spontaneous performer with a big sense of self-irony and no fear of playing the fool can do this. Mick is so far up his own arse that the light should filter past his tonsils and into his eyes any second, and also so image-conscious and so paranoid about being exposed to fans' hands that he would never ever do this.

Ade: glad you had a fantastic show !!!!!!!

Ya know I can appreciate Bruce. I saw him in December and it was a good show. However, I was bored at times and I longed for The Stones. That's just me.

See Shine A Light. Tell me THEN that the Rolling Stones aren't the GREATEST ROCK N ROLL BAND IN THE WORLD.

I am sorry that the STones didn't kick your asses on the last Euro tour. Perhaps if they grace the States with another few shows you should consider crossing the Pond. You will never see a show like a Stones Show at Madison Square Garden.

thanks Jostorm - a bit of a watershed evening, for me really.

I don't think i have the will or the finances to attend multiple Stones shows, per tour, in the future.
Last nights extravaganza, put Stadium shows into context.
They should be entertaining, the frontman should connect with his audience, listen to them, give them what they want
and deliver. And do it, without fleecing the fanbase, and give value for money.
There's not much point, imo, if a stadium show doesn't reach this criteria, and it leaves you broke, for months, after.

Last nights show was everything a Stadium concert experience should be.

the greatest frontman of all time, isn't up for debate, LadyJane.
My thoughts, are based on here and now, 2008.
whos providing the best value stadium concert experience.

Who's in tune with their fans?
who listens and connects with their fans? throws out the setlist, and plays requests?
Who keeps ticket prices down, at a price range  that young, upcoming fans can afford, as well as fathers/mothers, who can afford to take their kids?
I saw a different demograph of concert goer last night, to the one thats present at Stones shows.
Less corporate,
less 'lets milk our fanbase dry'
less 'we're play the hits for the highest dollar.'

Very well stated, Ade!

LJ..don't get me wrong..I love the Stones and always will!!! You rock! Fuck you Gazza, Will ya?

But by the end of the tour.. and Yes the last O2 show, I was totally let down.  It's the last show (yes maybe forever) and they couldn't even change up the setlist for those loyal fans who have fricken gone broke following them around!!!  There I said it...

I will always love their music and of course I will  go see them if they tour again.  But now it is more about the friends I've met through the Stones that will be the deciding factor on how much money and what show I'll see.

With Bruce..very simply...it is real.  It is not stagnated. It is always exciting, ever changing, and very importantly..affordable rock and roll for 2008.

Bruce is a magnificent live performer, one of my top three. There's no question that Bruce plays his back catalogue, and with spectacular and gut-wrenching results. And there's no question that as far as value-for-money, he wins hands-down.

The thing is, I don't go to shows based on setlist changes or value-for-money. I go for the sheer love of it. It's my choice. And believe me, it's not like I have money to burn - it's a sacrifice, but it's one I make of my own free will.

I love Bruce and have been lucky enough to see him play numerous times over the years. He's one of the best. He's reduced me to tears on more than one occasion when he's played one of my "special" songs. But for me, no one - and I mean NO ONE - has ever come close to rivaling the Stones onstage. They bring a whole different dynamic with them, and a whole different history. You simply can't compare the two.

Just my two cents, for what it's worth.

Salient points all, LJ, jostorm, Ade, Meg and GTRM.

Stones is Stones, and there is still nothing like them on stage.
Never was, never will be.

Having said that, they've done much to alienate their core constituency - ticket prices, static set lists, erratic playing and frequent off nights.

Will I see them if and when they tour again? In a heartbeat.
5 nights at MSG? I'm in!

Will I fly/drive great distances or pay big money to do so?
No.

On the other hand, I'm jonesing for another taste of Bruce and the ESB 2008.
Every night is a new revelation.

The official announcement of the Fall leg can't come soon enough...

Your mileage, of course, may vary.

It'll be nice seeing him at Giants, Lefty, but I'm so hoping he'll do some arena shows. Standing in "the pit" for two-and-a-half hours is a bit more than this old body can handle. Shit, if I'd known I was gonna live this long I would've taken better care of myself!  Cool

Seems very likely that'll happen, GTRM.

Rumored arena shows all up and down the Eastern Seaboard in the Fall - Baltimore, AC, Trenton, NYC, PA, MA, CT...

I'm still on the fence about Giants.
But by the time they roll around I'm sure I'll get to at least one.

Or three.  Wink

Very good points by Meg,Ade and others. You never forget your first love and the Stones will always be my favorite band. But their is just no way that the Stones can compare to Springsteen right now. With the Stones it's about show business. With Springsteen it truly is about the music. He has a passion for what he does that is infectious. I mean would Mick Jagger pick a sign up out of the audience and play the song requested? It's just a whole other experience. When I saw 3 stadiium shows on the last leg of the ABB tour,I was bored frankly by the end of the Dodger Stadium show. No surprises, just the same old stuff. Another solid professionally delivered show, but no passion. After I finished seeing 3 Springsteen shows on the last U.S. leg,I immediately wanted more. I'm trying to figure out how many shows I can get to on the next leg. Meanwhile if the Stones do tour next year,I'll probably go to a show or 2. But their is just no way it will be as good as Springsteen.
