I just LOVED Bruce's appearance on Jimmy Fallon's show, and the entire week was Springsteen week and it ROCKED! I love Jimmy Fallon, he is the coolest late night host these days, he played a Springsteen bit with Neil Young, to the song I'm sexy and I know it it was so fvcking cool.

The Friday night performance was quite possibly the best Springsteen TV performance I've seen yet (the December 2002 one on Conan when he did Kittys Back and Merry Christmas Baby was up there too). Three absolutely wonderful performances as well as the skit.

Cant stop listening to the new record. I honestly think it's probably the best record of new material he's made since 'Tunnel of Love'. Maybe even since 'The River'.

I'm not quite as sold on the new stuff as you are Gazza. Kind of lo=nging for some Outlaw Pete.LOL....But I'll probably go buy it anyway. Live,it'll sound better anyway.

How does Springsteen* get a channel and the Stones don't?

Oh...i know, when there was the 2005/06 tour they did...but they certainly can have one 24/7/365...Stones, solo stuff, old blues, and the like.

It's not like the Bruce channel is carrying the network or anything like that, now, is it?

* also Pearl Jam, Sinatra, Elvis P, Dead, The Margaritaville guy, Eminem, Ozzy, BB King, Neil Diamond, Dylan,  Simon AND Garfunkel, Tim McGraw and others too

I spliced it onto this one but left the "MOVED" thread to give more exposure and warn the regulars that don't lurk this thread often

BTW... It was just 12 threads below probably you searched for "Bruce" and not "Springsteen"

The Stones aren't active, that's why. They'll have a 'temporary' channel when it suits them to do , I suppose...ie, when a tour is happening. This time seven years ago the Stones were finishing recording their most recent album. Bruce has put out five new albums since then (excluding 'The Promise')  as well as playing about three times as many shows as the Stones have.

I'd imagine its mostly down to the Stones themselves. I'm sure Sirius would be all over them like a rash if they wanted a permanent channel.

Unfortunately, they seem to be a band which all but ceases to exist and shuts down totally in between tours and when they have new product to promote.

It'll probably happen closer to the tour start than preceding any announcement, I would imagine.

it helps getting your own sirius channel when your guitar player has a channel on sirius too....
FWIW, Stern has some shows dedicated to Bruce on Howard 101, old clarence interviews and stuff...

It's like Steel Wheels-era Stones up there!

"We can now be classed as a small orchestra" as Max Weinberg said pre-show.

Technically, its just the six of them.  Bruce, Nils, Steve, Max, Garry, Roy and Patti.

Soozie Tyrell and ( I believe) Charlie Giordano aren't E-Street Band members and Clarence and Danny haven''t been replaced.

It's sorta how we justified the Stones adding people to their stage, Mel.... Wink

Bruce is always expanding his talent and he seems to "thrive" on the "big "sound of horns.  Personally, I love the horns and fiddles and welcome them to the stage.  He is (along with Mick- so as not to offend my homies here) the ultimate entertainer!!

I really dig the oversize packaging of the "Wrecking Ball" CD. Anyone ever encounter one of these before? It had been a while—years—since I'd bought a physical disc!

Not quite sure what you're referring to Mel.....But gave a good portion of the new CD another spin today and will say I'm liking it more. It is a pretty different sound than Magic or WOAD. More riff heavy than I first realized. Even if it is coming from the horn section. But based on what I've heard so far,the live sound is good...........Busy week of Bruce stuff ahead. SXSW speech and performance thursday. Tour opener in Atlanta sunday. Is it April yet? Fuck you Gazza, Will ya?

Maybe it's just the special-edition CD, but the box is bigger than a normal CD.

I like the album, too. Better by far than the misbegotten WOAD. Comparable in overall quality to Magic. Still think The Rising is the best post-reunion Bruce.
