Can't imagine him doing a tour behind it, no.

I do think we'll get another album/tour (be it solo or 'Sessions') before the next E-Street Band 'project' though.

I hope it's this year.

This was the Bruce Springsteen and the Houserockers portion of the
Light of Day benefit. Whereas Bruce would normally sit in with Joe and
trade off on songs, this was definitely Bruce fronting the boys from
Pittsburgh in a solid 90 minute set. The sound is not as crystal clear
as last year, yet still quite strong. Recorded about 10 rows back on the
left side. Thanks to Bickle for a short patch in "I'm Not Sleeping."
Samples are attached. Enjoy.

Just watching some more Bruce videos from the LOD benefit and just wondering aloud. Is their any major act Bruce hasn't played with at some point and is their any major act who makes more guest appearences then Bruce? He gets around LOL....This a guy who should keep playing live until he drops in some form or another. You rock!

Bruce springsteen and friends
"Light of Day 11"
The Paramount Theatre, Asbury Park, New Jersey, USA
January 15, 2011

This is another source than the Bakerstuff recording found at http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details.php?id=340631. Content-wise this one includes the three duets Bruce did, as well as the solo/Houserockers stuff.

This is not the complete 6-hour Paramount show, only the parts where Bruce Springsteen is on stage. The complete "Light of Day 11" weekend recordings will be edited and posted later to Dime. If people are interested, I can also post this Bruce "compilation" in its original 96KHz/24-bit PCM format.

"Light of day"is a non-profit organization, working to raise money for research on Parkinson's Disease and other related illnesses. The organization was started by Bob Benjamin from New Jersey, who himself got the disease at the age of 38. The LoD concert series started out as a celebration of Bob's birthday with a single show in NJ - later it has grown a lot. This 11th "season" styarted with a tour of Europe & Canada, and ended with this weekend in Asbury Park, NJ. Support the Light of Day Foundation!

Setlist:
01 Broken Radio (with Jesse Malin)
02 Heaven Help the Lonely (with Willie Nile)
03 Always a Friend (with Alejandro Escovedo)
04 Your Own Worst Enemy (solo acoustic)
05 This Hard Land (solo acoustic)

with Joe Grushecky & the Houserockers:
06 Another Thin Line
07 Atlantic City
08 Never Be Enough Time
09 Adam Raised a Cain
10 One Way Street
11 I'm Not Sleeping
12 Save My Love
13 Talking to the King
14 Pink Cadillac (with Danny Clinch)

SPRINGSTEEN'S SHIPPING UP TO BOSTON
After sharing his stage with them in their Boston hometown a couple years back (April 22, 2009 at the TD Banknorth Garden) Springsteen guests on the new Dropkick Murphys album, Going Out in Style, trading lead vocals with Ken Casey on "Peg O' My Heart." From a new press release (via kikaxemusic.com):

For Going Out In Style, Dropkick Murphys even enlisted the vocal talents of the legendary Bruce Springsteen — whom they first met at a DKM gig in New York and later collaborated with onstage at one of Springsteen's Boston shows. Springsteen swaps verses with [Ken] Casey for a spirited take on the old standard "Peg O' My Heart."  "It has a classic old fifties rock and roll feel," says Casey. "Both of my grandmothers are named Peg. One grandmother, Peg Casey, is always saying, 'When are you going to do that song? Your grandfather always sang it to me!' The time signature changed, so hopefully they still appreciate it when they hear it."

The collaboration is a perfect intergenerational bridge for fans and band alike. Dropkick Murphys have always strongly resonated with audiences young and old due to their working class ethos and cathartic sonic revelry.  "It links two generations," says Casey. "We're spanning a lot of years of music here, yet our songs share similar themes, stories, and values."

RADIO ON THE TV
Back in November, when Springsteen answered questions posed by 20 lucky contest winners live on the air in the Sirius XM studios, Thom Zimny was there to capture the sights as well as the sounds. Next week we'll get to see it — some of it, at least — in a half-hour program called Bruce Springsteen: A Conversation With His Fans, debuting Friday, February 4.

The description on Palladia.tv: "Fans ask Bruce thought-provoking questions in an intimate studio setting. Bruce discusses the music of Darkness on the Edge of Town and his new album The Promise, in this special broadcast hosted by music critic Dave Marsh. Fan questions are intercut with highlights from the box set, The Promise documentary, the Paramount Theater concert, the 2010 Songs From The Promise concert and rare archival footage from 1978."

Conversation debuts on Feburary 4 at 9:00 p.m. on both Palladia and VH1 Classic

Well it was the annual benefit he does for his son's school and not open to the general public. But yeah at least he keeps his chops up playing.

His son has left school by now, though - so it's not as if he just feels obliged to support his school...

Some video from last night : http://www.greasylake.org/setlists_show_multimedia.php?ID=2722&s_concert_date=20...

In other gossip, POINT BLANK magazine states that the director of a theatre in Madrid said in an interview that he is in the process of booking a date for an acoustic Bruce show.

Original story here (in Spanish) - http://www.pointblankmag.com/

Translation :

In an interview published today in the newspaper El Pais, the director of the Teatro Price de Madrid  says he is negotiating "an acoustic concert by Bruce Springsteen. " Although neither Springsteen nor its representatives have announced any tour or any new album, (it has been) rumored for several months that the artist could do a world tour this year. "Springsteen will return to present a solo album in theaters? " It would certainly be great news, but for now we must take it with reservations and wait for an official statement.

Surgery took its toll on saxman Clarence Clemons during the last Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band tour. But the Big Man says he’s much better now and is looking forward to playing live, maybe even with Lady Gaga.

While talking to RollingStone.com, the 69-year-old Clemons said he was still in a lot of pain while performing on 2009’s “Working On A Dream” tour.

“The last tour was hell. Pure hell,” Clemons said. “The tour was wonderful musically. But I knew when it was done that I had to have more surgery.”

More time under the knife included having both knees replaced for the second time as well as spinal fusion surgery.

“The timing was perfect because it didn’t interfere with a lot of stuff that was going on in my life,” Clemons told RollingStone.com. “It made me stronger, and for the past year I’ve been in physical therapy a few days a week working my ass off to get back in shape. I’m walking better now, though I still use a cane and crutches. But now I’m having hip problems again. I don’t know why.”

Clemons also said he hadn’t heard anything official about a Springsteen/E Street 2012 tour, but said the “rumors feel true.” The last time Springsteen played with the band in public was in December at the Carousel House in Asbury Park in front of approximately 60 fans for a video shoot.

Clemons also talked about playing on the new Lady Gaga album, saying he hopes to perform live with her at some point in the future.

“If she asked I’d love to,” Clemons said. “If Bruce and Gaga both needed me around the same time I don't know if you could hold me down to the ground. If both of ‘em came to pass in the same year or two years it would just be…I can’t even think like that. [laughs] It would be so crazy. The thing I’d love to do is have the chance to go out with both of them.”

THE PROMISE THEATER SCREENINGS BENEFIT INDEPENDENT CINEMA
Last fall, Thom Zimny's documentary The Promise: The Making on Darkness on the Edge of Town had a handful of silver screenings, at film festivals in Toronto, London, and Rome. In conjunction with its May 3 single-DVD release, the film will have a limited U.S. theatrical run from coast to coast — from Brunswick, ME to San Fancisco, CA; from Bellingham, WA to Miami Beach, FL; and lots in between, including right here in the Carolinas.

Continuing a tradition of support to community-based, independent cinemas, Bruce Springsteen and Columbia Records have once again partnered with Emerging Pictures for this series of charitable screenings. From April 22 to May 3. Emerging Pictures' network of community-based cinemas, performing arts centers and independent art-houses will showing the film as a fundraiser — not-for-profits theatres showcasing the film will keep 100% of funds from ticket sales, while for-profit venues will keep 50%, donating the remaining funds to a charity of their choice. All benefit screenings will also feature Springsteen merchandise giveaways.

Best wishes to Clarence Clemons.
A source close to Clarence Clemons has confirmed that he has suffered a stroke. The source, who offered the information on the condition of not being identified, did not know how serious the stroke was.

Veteran entertainment journalist Roger Friedman wrote, on the web site showbiz411.com that the beloved saxophonist, known as the Big Man, had suffered a stroke at his Florida home, and is "seriously ill."

Clemons is an original member of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band, and the oldest member of the band, at 69. He is someone whose importance to the New Jersey music scene can't be overstated, and who is utterly irreplaceable.

His big, immediately recognizable, saxophone sound is one of the cornerstones of the E Street sound. Songs such as "Born to Run" and "Jungleland" wouldn't have sounded remotely the same without him, and his larger-than-life personality has always made him a crucial element of the band's stage shows.

Springsteen even gave him a crucial role in the autobiographical song "Tenth Avenue Freeze-out," singing, about the moment when it all changed for the E Street Band: "When the change was made uptown and the Big Man joined the band/From the coastline to the city all the little pretties raise their hands."

Although the E Street Band is currently on hiatus, Clemons has been in the news, lately, after performing on Lady Gaga's new album, "Born This Way."

He was also the subject of a documentary, "Who Do I Think I Am? A Portrait of a Journey," that premiered at the Garden State Film Festival in Asbury Park, in April.

The film documented traveling that Clemons had done, in China, after Springsteen's "Rising Tour" of 2002-03. “I was kind of looking for myself,” Clemons told The Star-Ledger, in March. “The tour with Bruce was just so long: It took me out of my body, it took me out of myself. And finding who I am was what this (trip) turned into.”

He was still, at the time, undergoing "major, major rehab," he said, from the knee replacement and spinal surgeries he has undergone over the last few years, but was hopeful that the band would tour again in 2012.

He also published a memoir, "Big Man: Real Life and Tall Tales," in 2009.

Damn. Just when it seemed his health would be improving.

Could be the end of the ESB as we know it. Even if he recovers, its hard to imagine him him being in a state to tour when in his 70s and after a stroke.#

The main thing is that he gets well, though.
