Who is Joe Torre-the manager?  If yes, why is he onstage at the shows?   Is it in his contract?

A really great Bruce Show at Verizon Center.  He dedicated the show to Lenny Sullivan (RIP), and opened with Outlaw Pete.

It was great to hear the BTR set, Bruce played it so each ending song segued or progressed into a new song.  It was excellent, rough and hard rocking.  I was happy to hear Pink Cadillac.  Clarence was more animated this time (he has a new Book out about his experience with the E Street Band).  No Patti onstage.  Bruce played for almost 3 hours.

I was able to get my tix upgraded, and ended up with much better seats (Thank you Jesus, Thank you Lord  Smiley).

I think Bruce really likes DC, its his third visit in less than 3 years.  And, in a few weeks, he's playing Baltimore, MD,  which has a long standing working class tradition.   I would not be surprised if he has political aspirations for the future....

Outlaw Pete, for me, at least, was a huge downer in the opening slot. That song just doesn't do it for me -- and it's looong. And the gimmick with the hat and boots, the Pete Townshend windmills ... it's all so choreographed.

After that, of course, it was all marvelous.

Yes, SWC, it was Pink Cadillac, thanks.  Cadillac Ranch was a wishful slip.

I love Outlaw Pete, and thought it was a bold choice for an opener.

Glad you folks enjoyed the show.

The request segment looked like fun.
And I hope 'Higher & Higher' stays in the set.

Nice work on the upgrade, FG.
How'd you manage that?

Coincidentally - or not - there was a sizeable ticket drop for both MSG shows a couple of hours ago.

Scored a major upgrade for Saturday night.  Cool

WIESS is probably my favourite Bruce album, and NYC Serenade the one song I want to hear live.

'The River' however is an album that's just made for live performance. The first Bruce show (and the best show I've ever seen) for me was on that tour, its his best tour IMO and maybe the best tour by ANYONE, it was the first Bruce album I bought 'new' when it came out and the album which I associate mor with my teenage years than any other. Sentimentally, its a record that means a lot to me.

I would LOVE to hear the River played live.  I think the River is an underrated masterpiece.  Being a double album, it will make for really long concerts, even by Bruce's standards.

Is Baltimore getting BTR again?

Texted my good mate Logie (who some of you may know off IORR) from Liverpool with the MSG news as he and his good lady are in New York this week for the shows - they arrived just in time to see the 2nd HoF gig with Mick, and also got tickets for the Light of Day benefit this weekend, which Bruce often shows up at. I think they almost spontaneously combusted when they heard they were getting WIESS and The River in full.

Interesting. Both MSG shows are completely sold out, but the Light of Day benefit is wide open and only $25.00! What are the chances? 50-50 that Bruce will show up at The Bowery?

He plays at it more years than not due to his close friendship with Joe Grushecky, who (perhaps conveniently) has just released a new album with Bruce on it.

The only thing that I can see as likely to stop him performing is that he's playing MSG on the following two nights. Might be a bit of a stretch to expect him to play 3 nights in a row, and maybe if he does play the LOD show, it would be a short or minor appearance.

He is in the area all week, though. Tonight he's appearing at NY Town Hall as part of the 'Stand Up For Heroes' benefit.

Thanks Gazza. The 'Stand Up For Heroes' benefit tickets are $500 and up! Maybe Bruce will take a night off from the LOD show, he's been really busy lately! His voice sounded kinda shot last week and he was pushing it hard anyway.
