Don’t have the cash to shell out for one of the good seats at a Bruce Springsteen show but still want a good dose of The Boss in your life? Fortunately you can soon get your fix – and the chance to find out exactly what makes Bruce tick – with the upcoming DVD release of “Bruce Springsteen’s DVD Jukebox.”

The 150-minute film, available Oct. 20, takes a detailed look at the artists who have inspired Springsteen’s songwriting, musicianship and performances including Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley, Woody Guthrie, Johnny Cash, Mitch Ryder, Van Morrison and Pete Seeger. The singer's literary and political influences are also examined.
The film features rare footage of Springsteen and all of the featured artists. In addition to archive interviews with Springsteen, viewers will hear from former E Street Band member Vini Lopez, Springsteen drummer Gary Mallaber, the legendary Gary (US) Bonds and history Professor and Folk Music expert Ronal D. Cohen.

There are also interviews with writers and historians such as English Professor and author of “It Ain't No Sin to be Glad You're Alive: The Promise of Bruce Springsteen” Eric Alterman, former editor-in-chief of Rolling Stone Anthony De Curtis and British music author and Van Morrison biographer Johnny Rogan.

Special features include “Vini Loez on Bruce’s very earliest influences” and “‘Working For The Boss’ with Gary Mallaber.”

The DVD is available for pre-order for $19.99 at SeeOfSound.com.

Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band are currently touring the U.S. with dates on the books through late November.

This week's LiveNation Boston follies:

Springsteen's Sunday show still has a TON of great seats available; nope, not lawn seats all the way back, but great seats under the roof in sections 1 -8.

We got a call asking if we'd like to pick up any for "family, friends, clients etc etc" at a great price.

Nope, we replied, "all set thanks etc etc etc etc"

LiveNation: "C'mon, don't you know anybody that wants to see Bruce, this may be his last time out"

Me: "seems to me that I've heard that re every act since Bowie in early 70's. and that you (LiveNation and predecessors) have used that with the last Stones, McCartney, Who, Aerosmith, etc etc etc whenever a legacy act is having trouble selling out"

LiveNation: "BUT IT'S BRUCE" and we need to sell this out"

Me: "good luck"

a day or so goes by and guess who is on the phone ???? you got it !!!! Live Nation wanting to know if there is anything they can do for us, our family, friends etc re Bruce's Sunday show.

Nope, have a great day etc etc................

I call a guy at LiveNation and ask what's going on,

Seems LiveNation has made another bad deal for LiveNation and without sellouts both Saturday and Sunday there will be hell to pay as they need to sell out both shows to cover Bruce's deal.

Oh well, I do remember that we all have the ability to say "I'll pass" if a deal isn't a good deal, guess LiveNation's national booking folks just didn't remember basic business. Why not pass on a second night when the tour is offered, or maybe get back to the old days/old ways; announce a show, if it blows out the tickets, then add a second date, but only if the first goes instantly.

Another example of how goofy it gets: Pretenders played Hampton Beach Casino Saturday evening, and are playing BankAmerica/Harborlights(LiveNation Boston) tonight, STILL GREAT SEATS AVAILABLE, according to the LiveNation rep that asked if we wanted/needed any. We already have seats for the show.

Just curious as to why LiveNation would play Pretenders in Boston when they did Hampton beach 4 nights earlier, Hampton is only 30 mile north of Boston, when the February Pretender's show at the Orpheum Boston couldn't sell out(did appx 90% of a small house)

Gotta wonder what these guys are thinking

How come their aren't any stupid west coast (or as we're now known,the left out coast) promoters who are willing to over pay for Bruce only to not have him sell out. Let's see,5 shows at GS,4 in philly and 2 at MSG and 2 in Boston....and they can't understand why it's not sold out.....Oh well more space for my fat ass when I head back there next week. What a post Ronnie!!!!!

Checking the weather forecast for this weekend....Looks like a good chance I might be hearing who'll stop the rain. But if I had my choice of Bruce water related songs. I'd much rather hear Lost in the Flood. Speaking of which. Just a couple of simple requests for this weekend. A couple of classics I haven't heard yet in my 10 shows on the last 2 tours. The River and Darkness on the Edge of Town. Everything else is gravy. Although I did hear he soundchecked several songs from Human Touch in Hartford. I would be one happy Charmer if I just got to hear HT. Fuck you Gazza, Will ya?
