Holy shit! THAT LUCKY FUCKER! He got "Incident!" That alone makes this the best setlist of the tour. I've got one more show this year and I'm praying for "Incident."

Your money is safe!

Just back online after getting home and getting a new pc delivered, as I havent had a home computer for about 3 weeks.

More later no doubt, but suffice to say three great shows, with Dublin 2 being the pick of the bunch, in terms of performance, sound and setlist. Just had a quick look at the setlists posted on here, and it doesnt quite look right. 'E Street Shuffle' was NOT performed at Dublin 1 or at any show, and the 2nd show there was the longest, maybe 1-2 songs longer. I counted 15 changes over the two Dublin shows. Night 1 clocked in at about 2 hrs 55 - the second had already ran that length by the 11 pm curfew and then they decided to bust it and added two more songs, taking the show to an incredible 3 hours and 10 minutes. Glasgow last night was about 2 hrs 55 minutes again.

Some real jawdropping moments over the three nights - not least of which Bruce's decision to open a concert in Ireland on the historically significant date of 12th of July with a song called 'No Surrender' (the irony of which was apparently pointed out to him beforehand and he decided to play it for the hell of it. Certainly put a smile on the faces of most of the Ulster contingent..myself included). , '41 Shots' was certainly unexpected (first time ever outside the USA, I think) and a performance which blew away any version I'd heard before - and last but not least, after 29 shows in 28 years, I finally got to hear him perform "Incident on 57th Street" last night - could have left happily at that moment! It was absolutely glorious too. The trend of Nils' opening the shows with a local song as the band took the stage behind him continues - it was 'Fields of Athenry' at both Dublin shows and 'Flower of Scotland' in Glasgow.

Hard to do the shows justice and not run out of superlatives, but the band are really cooking at the moment. The second Dublin show was probably the most fun I've ever seen a band have onstage. The only drawback I'd offer would be that Bruce really needs to have a word with his sound people. The first half hour at Dublin 1 - albeit with the band having to deal with high winds and a downpour which lasted the entire show was marred by not only a bad sound balance but by the fact that even in the pit it simply wasnt loud enough. My mate had a word with Steve about the sound the following morning and lo and behold it was great on night 2. Glasgow was pretty boomy at times too.

Some surprising highlights - Ive never cared for 'Cover Me' on record, but in Glasgow last night it was stunning. the 'depression trilogy' that follows 'Working on a dream' is great too and 'Hard Times' is a real highlight in the encores. Thats my tour over unfortunately, best of luck to anyone who's going to shows in the autumn. They'll be incredible.

Congrats on catching the elusive 'Incident', Gazza.

Guess I'm spoiled - seen it three times on the last two tours.  Smiley

Keep missing 'Racing In The Street', though.

Shame about the sound.
It's really been hit or miss.

Guess it sounds good to John Cooper...

A "couple" of shows in LA is a stretch as the 2008 & 2009 weren't even sold out. Fresno came from a good source (not an exclusive Bruce source but a good source for concert info in general) but my guess is either the financials didn't work or they are still coming. The boost from the Super Bowl has long faded so other than the Hollywood Bowl which draws an entirely different demographic, I can't really imagine him doing 2 shows anywhere else in the area. Probably the reason the tentative schedule was filled out with places like Fresno.

And he could play the east coast markets a few times a year in perpetuity much like the Dead with the bay area.

Fine-tuned Springsteen was born to overrun

By DANIEL McCONNELL Chief Reporter

Sunday July 19 2009

Legendary American singer Bruce Springsteen was born to run ... and to overrun. Now he's facing fines of up to €50,000 for breaking his curfew at his Dublin shows in the RDS last weekend.

The singer, famed for such hits as 'Born in the USA' and 'The River', played for over three hours both nights at the RDS arena last weekend to the delight of 40,000 fans.

But Springsteen and the E Street Band broke their curfew by 15 minutes on the Saturday and by 19 minutes on the Sunday, and now face possibly losing the entire bond deposit placed by Aiken Promotions with Dublin City Council, which granted the licence for the concert to take place. But the veteran singer, whose lengthy sets are well renowned, appeared not to care about the curfew whilst on stage last weekend.

During the 20-minute encore the 59-year-old singer joked to the crowd: "We have to go, we have a curfew", to which lead guitarist (and Sopranos star) Steven Van Zandt replied "we don't care about the curfew, this is the curfew breaking Boss and E Street Band".

It is not the first time the singer has been fined for over running. At the world famous Glastonbury Festival, Springsteen played a two and a half hour set and overran by nine minutes leading to a fine of £3,000 (€5,000).

Last year, Springsteen was also the subject of a fine when he last played the RDS, due to the sound levels exceeding the permitted decibel limit.

Dublin City Council told the Sunday Independent that all acts, including Springsteen, had a strict curfew of 11pm each night. According to a statement from the council, public event licences issued for concerts at the RDS allow music to continue until 11pm.

"A condition on the licence provides for the payment of a bond as a surety for compliance with the conditions attached to the licence, including the requirements of the Environmental Health Officer. A portion of the bond may be held by the City Council for non-compliance," the statement said. Council sources have said that he might have been let off if it was confined to one night, but the fact that Springsteen played late on both nights means that a fine will be imposed. The council is also awaiting a report from our Environmental Health Section regarding noise levels and finishing times. No fines have been issued pending this information.

Aiken Promotions said that no contact had yet been received from Dublin City Council in relation to last week's gigs.

which Glastonbury Festival his he referring to?
it can't be this years june 27th date - or his calculator is livin' in the past.
3000 quid are only about 3500 € worth, these days.

he definitely wasnt over the curfew on the Saturday show in Dublin either - well, if he was it was by a minute at most. Sunday night he played two songs after he was 'alerted' that it was curfew time, and went about 15 minutes over it.

Point is that he played on because he was having fun, knowing he'd get fined. By contrast, when the Stones played Twickenham three years ago and the show started 5-10 minutes late because the puddles had to be swept off the stage, they just cut the show short by a song to finish by 10.30 in case they had to pay about £2,000 for going a minute or two over.  Rock 'n' roll, eh?

Yep, Bruce is having fun and to the Stones it's just a paycheck. But does Bruce actually have to pay the fines, are does the promoter?
