LOL I love a smart riposte. It does sound like Brucie isn't quite as sharp as in the past. BTW I am listening to "Magic" as I type...

It's early yet.
Liked what I've heard so far - especially 'Seeds', 'Johnny 99', 'Ghost Of Tom Joad', 'Good Eye' and 'The Wrestler'.
And 'Hard Times' is sublime.

Don't forget to add your own rap before you spin 'Living In The Future'.  Wink

Wrong. I caught the first two shows of the tour. Both good. Phoenix last night was excellent.

It's a shame as that's actually a nice song, harkening back to classic boss stuff. The pre-song rap is such a turn-off.

Watching Gary and Max induct Bill Black and DJ Fontana at the RRHOF. Which reminds me how good these guys were last night. The whole band was much loser than on opening night. Not only was Clarence better, but even Gary moved a little bit. Or maybe he was just confused because now he's on Max's right instead of the left. Wink

That one was nice to hear. Although I would have rather heard that instead of WOTH which preceded it. But minor quibble. As far as the stage. Basicly the same, maybe a little bigger, with the backup singers. Gary Tallent now on Max's right intead of left. Their is a video effects screen behind the band. Kind of short and hard to see from the floor. But during OP they showed images of the Arizona desert. Kind of cool.

The stage doesnt really differ from one tour to the next. Thankfully, he doesnt concern himself with bells and whistles.

Yeah a novel concept these days. A band that just plays music. You rock!

this and the last tour have pretty much been back to back tours as far as i'm concerned.  i figure he'd give his fans a little something different to look at.

That was clever

He did.

See the aforementioned video screen, plus Curtis King and Cindy Mizelle from the Seeger Sessions Band on backing vocals.

And Garry Tallent now has a riser next to Max.

That's about all you'll get in terms of extra goo gaws.

Unless you count the cowboy hat...

You just have to be there Platter. That's why I say you can't judge a show by reading the setlist. It really was infectious Friday night. When he did American Land I didn't head for the exit like I usually do. I stuck it out and at the end Max is just wailing away.I could tell they just weren't done. Ok,so they went into DITD. But the whole crowd was having fun along with the band. Maybe it helped that it was a friday night and the crowd was well-oiled. As Joey would say. Let's go get drunk

I've never heard anyone who actually goes to these shows complain about that aspect yet.

I'd be more concerned about the musical side of things, myself. I dont know anyone who's ever gone to a Springsteen show and concerned themselves with inanimate lumps of metal.  If I was interested in lightshows, lasers and all that shit I'd go to a museum. It certainly isnt worth adding $50-100 on to a ticket price. I'll leave that to the likes of Pink Floyd.

Any act thats more concerned with spectacle than substance is a band with problems.

then the stones surely have problems.

think about it...there have only been 2-4 bands that concern themselves with bells and whistles anyway.  stones and floyd being 2 acts.

i haven't seen bruce in ages and probably never will again.  i was just wondering is all.

i do think he is in and on this tour for the money tho.  i mean how long can he carry on singing at such intensity at what 56-57 years old.  don't get me wrong dude...i'm just saying he is making hay while the sun shines...ain't nothing wrong with that.

i look forward to more setlists.

enjoy your shows.

Shit!

There's a lot more than that.
See: Spears, Britney for one.

Of course that's to take your mind off of the canned music...

I dont think the Stones are quite at that level yet, although they're getting that way. Its certainly far more of an issue when putting their show together than it should be, however.

well mister, i guess we just have to agree to disagree...no biggie.  as far as i'm concerned...the stones have been all bells and whistles since steel wheels to a bigger bang.

I think the Stones start tours with slight bells & whistles & they usually last for exactly one show & then get dumped.

There is always the chance of a wardrobe malfuction at a Britney concert to keep things interesting. Shocked
