Guess Tulsa didn't get the memo.
GA's are still available.

Or maybe it's because they're being sold through tickets.com...

Deja Vu all over again. Tried to get a GA for the second LA show. By 10:01. Their were none. Unfucking beleivable. I wonder how many are on ticketsnow,Stubhub or Ebay already? Where were all these people for the last tour? One Super Bowl appearance does this?....Allright,I'm done whining.....For now. Cry

Chill, it's gonna be an easy ticket.

The Eagles sold out 2 nights in Tulsa. I only know this because the arena took out a full page in Pollstar. If you notice, it's one of the only secondary markets he is even playing.

Bruce Springsteen to headline Hard Rock Calling 2009
On 10.02.2009

‘The Boss’ and the E Street Band will perform their first-ever UK festival appearance outside of the United States, at Hard Rock Calling 2009 in Hyde Park, London on June 28th

Main support comes from multi-million album selling American rockers Dave Matthews Band – with their hybrid of jazz, folk and a distinct pop sensibility resonating through capacity stadiums in the United States.  They will be joining Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band on Sunday 28 June with full supporting line-up to be announced.

New Jersey’s newest and hottest sons, The Gaslight Anthem, will also be joining the lineup on June 28th.  Currently in the midst of a world tour, The Gaslight Anthem are the hottest ticket around and have been cited as the best new band fans will hear  in 2009.

Hard Rock Calling is now established as one of the most important London events on the UK musical calendar. Past years have seen Aerosmith, Eric Clapton, Roger Waters, The Police and The Who create what is now identified as the most prestigious and ‘must be at’ open air music event in the UK.

Live Nation and Ticketmaster Announce Merger Agreement

2/10/09, 11:42 am EST

According to an official press release, the boards of Live Nation and Ticketmaster have agreed to terms to merge the two companies into one massive live-music giant called Live Nation Entertainment. Although Live Nation recently launched its own ticketing service and signed artists like Madonna and Jay-Z to huge contracts, and Ticketmaster joined forces with Irving Azoff’s Front Line Management (which oversees the careers of superstars like Guns n’ Roses and Christina Aguilera), both companies have seen their stock shares plummet and relationships with consumers sour in recent weeks. Rolling Stone reported on the possible merger last week; the two companies hope to complete it by the second half of 2009.

According to the press release, Live Nation and Ticketmaster will combine their ticketing, marketing, data centers and back-offices. “The companies will be combined in a tax-free, all-stock merger of equals with a combined enterprise value of approximately $2.5 billion,” it reads. “Under the agreement, Ticketmaster shareholders will receive 1.384 shares of Live Nation common stock for each share of Ticketmaster they own, subject to certain adjustments defined within the agreement. Live Nation and Ticketmaster shareholders will each own approximately 50 percent of the combined company.”

So how will this affect consumers? In light of the two companies’ recent battles with Phish and Bruce Springsteen fans due to bungled onsales, the announcement promises Live Nation Entertainment will improve access and transparency, create more choice in ticket price options, invest in better ticketing technology and increase event attendance. On a conference call today, Ticketmaster blamed a glitch involving Visa credit cards for the Springsteen debacle, saying the cards froze the system and routed fans to Tickets Now.

While it sounds good on paper for both sides, the merger will likely face a significant antitrust battle as it appears the two companies will be forming a ticketing monopoly. Ticketmaster has faced such allegations in the past; joining forces with the company that was supposed to serve as its competition will likely garner a long look from both the Justice Department and Federal Trade Commission.

Bruce Springsteen has already spoken out against the merger, saying, “The one thing that would make the current ticket situation even worse for the fan than it is now would be Ticketmaster and Live Nation coming up with a single system, thereby returning us to a near monopoly situation in music ticketing. If you, like us, oppose that idea, you should make it known to your representatives.” Springsteen now has a friend in the Oval Office who said in 2007, “Antitrust helps to keep that system in force. It addresses the temptation that some businesses will sometimes experience, to merge with key rivals instead of outperforming them, to agree not to compete too hard, or to sabotage rivals’ efforts to serve consumers instead of redoubling their own.” It’s safe to assume Live Nation Entertainment’s journey toward approval will certainly be Sisyphusian.

This will make what sham of competition there was now non existant. What Ticketmaster is doing by scalping alone should have already had them locked up.Course this will sail through the regulators without a whimper.

I
Six Air Force Thunderbirds have just roared overhead at what felt like inches above our backstage area, giving myself and the entire E Street Band a brush cut. With 20 minutes to go, I'm sitting in my trailer trying to decide what boots to wear. I've got a nice pair of cowboy boots my feet look really good in, but I'm concerned about their stability. Two days ago we rehearsed in full rain on the field and the stage became as slick as an ice pond. It was almost impossible to stand on. It was so slick I crashed into Mike Colucci, our cameraman, coming off my knee slide, his camera the only thing that kept me from launching out onto the soggy turf. When Jerry the umpire in "Glory Days" did his bit, he came running out, couldn't stop himself and executed one of the most painfully perfect "man slips on a banana peel" falls I've ever seen. This sent Steve, myself and the entire band into one of the biggest stress-induced laughters of our lives that lasted all the way back to our trailers. (A few Advil and Jerry was okay.)

I better go with the combat boots I always carry. The round toes will give me better braking power than the pointy-toed cowboy boots when I hit the deck. I stuff my boots with two innersoles to make them as fitted as possible, zip them up snuggly around my ankles, stomp around in my trailer a bit and feel pretty grounded. Fifteen minutes…oh, by the way, I'm somewhat nervous. It's not the usual pre-show jitters, not "butterflies," it's not wardrobe malfunction anticipation anxiety, I'm talking about five minutes to beach landing, "Right Stuff" "Lord Don't Let Me Screw the Pooch in Front of 100 Million People" one of the biggest television audiences since dinosaurs first screwed on earth kind of semi-terror. It only lasts for a minute…I check my hair, spray it with something that turns it into concrete and I'm out the door.

I catch sight of Patti smiling. She's been my rock all week. I put my arm around her and away we go. They take us by golf cart to a holding tunnel right off the field. The problem is there are a thousand people there, tv cameras, media of all kinds and general chaos. Suddenly, hundreds of people rush by us in a column shouting, cheering…our fans! And tonight also our stage builders. These are "the volunteers". They've been here for two weeks on their own dime in a field day after day, putting together and pulling apart pieces of our stage over and over again, theoretically achieving military precision. Now it's for real. I hope they've got it down because as we're escorted onto the field, lights in the stadium fully up, the banshee wail of 70,000 screaming football fanatics rising in our ears, there's nothing there. Nothing…no sound, no lights, no instruments, no stage, nothing but brightly lit unwelcoming green turf. Suddenly an army of ants come from all sides of what seems like nowhere. Each rolling a piece of our lifeline, our earth onto the field. The cavalry has arrived. What takes us on a concert day 8 hours to do is done in five minutes. Unbelieveable. Everything in our world is there…we hope. We gather a few feet off the stage, form a circle of hands, I say a few words drowned out by the crowd and it's smiles all around. I've been in a lot of high stakes situations like this, though not exactly like this, with these people before. It's stressful, but our band is made for it…and it's about to begin…so happy warriors we bound up onto the stage.

II
The NFL stage manager gives me the three minute sign…two minutes…one…there's a guy jumping up and down on sections of the stage to get them to sit evenly on the grass field…30 seconds…they're still testing all the speakers and equipment…that's cutting it close! The lights in the stadium go down. The crowd erupts and Max's drumbeat opens "10th Avenue." I feel a white light silhouette Clarence and I for a moment. I hear Roy's piano. I give "C"'s hand a pat. I'm on the move tossing my guitar in a high arc for Kevin, my guitar tech, to catch and it's…"ladies and gentlemen, for the next 12 minutes we will be bringing the righteous and mighty power of the E Street Band into your beautiful home. So…step back from the guacamole dip. Put the chicken fingers down! And turn the TV ALL the way up!" Because, of course, there is just ONE thing I've got to know: "IS THERE ANYBODY ALIVE OUT THERE?!"

All I know is if you were standing next to me, you would be. I feel like I've just taken a syringe of adrenalin straight to the heart. Before we came out, I had two major concerns. One, something might go wrong beyond my control. That completely disappeared before we hit the stage. Tonight our fate is in the hands of many, so no sense for useless worry. Two, I was worried that I would find myself 'out' of myself and not in the moment. My old friend Peter Wolf once said 'the strangest thing you can do on stage is think about what you're doing." This is true. To observe oneself from afar while struggling to bring the moment to life is an unpleasant experience. I've had it more than once. It's an existential problem. Unfortunately, right in my wheel house. It doesn't mean it's going to be a bad show. It may be a great one. It just means it might take time, something we don't have much of tonight. When that happens, I do anything to break it. Tear up the set list, call an audible, make a mistake, anything to get "IN." That's what you get paid for, TO BE HERE NOW! The power, potential and volume of your present-ness is a basic rock and roll promise. It's the essential element that holds the attention of your audience, that gives force, shape and authority to the evening's events. And however you get there on any given night, that's the road you take. "IS THERE ANYBODY ALIVE IN HERE?!"…there better be.

I'm on top of the piano (good old boots). I'm down. One…two…three, knee drop in front of the microphone and I'm bending back almost flat on the stage. I close my eyes for a moment and when I open them, I see nothing but blue night sky. No band, no crowd, no stadium. I hear and feel all of it in the form of a great siren like din surrounding me but with my back nearly flat against the stage I see nothing but beautiful night sky with a halo of a thousand stadium suns at its edges. I take several deep breaths and a calm comes over me. I feel myself deeply and happily "IN."

Since the inception of our band it was our ambition to play for everyone. We've achieved a lot but we haven't achieved that. Our audience remains tribal…that is predominantly white. On occasion, the Inaugural Concert, during a political campaign, touring through Africa in '88, particularly in Cleveland with President Obama, I looked out and sang "Promised Land" to the audience I intended it for, young people, old people, black, white, brown, cutting across religious and class lines. That's who I'm singing to today. Today we play for everyone. I pull myself upright with the mike stand back into the world, this world, my world, the one with everybody in it and the stadium, the crowd, my band, my best friends, my wife come rushing into view and it's "teardrops on the city…"

III
During "Tenth Avenue" I tell the story of my band…and other things "when the change was made uptown"…. It goes rushing by, then the knee slide. Too much adrenalin, a late drop, too much speed, here I come Mike…BOOM! And I'm onto his camera, the lens implanted into my chest with one leg off the stage. I use his camera to push myself back up and…say it, say it, say it, say it…BLAM! BORN TO RUN…my story…Something bright and hot blows up behind me. I heard there were fireworks. I never saw any. Just the ones going off in my head. I'm out of breath. I try to slow it down. That ain't gonna happen. I already hear the crowd singing the last eight bars of "Born to Run" oh, oh, oh, oh…then it's straight into "Working on a Dream"…your story…and mine I hope. Steve is on my right, Patti on my left. I catch a smile and the wonderful choir, The Joyce Garrett Singers, that backed me in Washington during the Inaugural concert is behind us. I turn to see their faces and listen to the sound of their voices…"working on a dream". Done. Moments later, we're ripping straight into "Glory Days"…the end of the story. A last party steeped in merry fatalism and some laughs with my old pal, Steve. Jerry the Ump doesn't fall on his ass tonight. He just throws the yellow penalty flag for the precious 40 seconds we've gone overtime…home stretch. Everyone is out front now forming that great line. Out of the corner of my eye, I catch the horns raising their instruments high, my guitar is wheeling around my neck and on the seventh beat, I'm going to Disneyland. I'm already someplace a lot farther and more fun than that. I look around, we're alive, it's over, we link arms and take a bow as the stage comes apart beneath our feet. It's chaos again all the way back to the trailer. A toast…our families, friends, Jon, George, Brendan, Barbara, with Don Mischer, Ricky Kirshner, Glenn Weiss, Charles Coplin, and Dick Ebersol, the great team that put it altogether and the end of a good football game.

IV
The theory of relativity holds. On stage your exhilaration is in direct proportion to the void you're dancing over. A gig I always looked a little askance at and was a little wary of turned out to have surprising emotional power and resonance for me and my band. It was a high point, a marker of some sort and went up with the biggest shows of our work life. The NFL threw us an anniversary party the likes of which we'd never throw for ourselves (we're too fussy) with fireworks and everything! In the middle of their football game, they let us hammer out a little part of our story. I love playing long and hard but it was the 35 years in 12 minutes…that was the trick. You start here, you end there, that's it. That's the time you've got to give it everything you have…12 minutes…give or take a few seconds. The Super Bowl is going to help me sell a few new records, that's what I wanted because I want people to hear where we are today. It'll probably put a few extra fannies in the seats and that's fine. We live high around here and I like to do good business for my record company and concert promoters. But what it's really about is my band remains one of the mightiest in the land and I want you to know it, we want to show you…because we can.

By 3 am, I am back home, everyone in the house fast asleep and tucked in bed. I am sitting in the yard over an open fire, staring up again into that black night sky, my ears still ringing…"Oh yeah, it's alright."

Not sure if you've noticed, but theres a guy on BTX who, for $10, will contact you when he knows a ticket drop is coming. Quite a few people seem to have used his services before with good results.

Yeah I did see that Gazza. I've been debating whether or not to use that. But their certainly seems to be a pretty high demand for opening night.

Greetings,

I'd like to thank everyone who contributed to, supported and purchased the Bruce Springsteen book, For You. Thanks to you it's been an incredible success and we are completely sold out.

I have really appreciated the personal messages that you have sent describing the hours of enjoyment you have derived from the incredible stories and photos contained within the pages of For You. I have also delighted in the positive and insightful reviews by fans and critics, who seem to understand that Bruce Springsteen, the musician and the man, has created a community that reaches far beyond the communal shared experience of his music. Your support is greatly appreciated.

P.S. If you have any original photography and or memorabilia from the 1978 Darkness on The Edge of Town tour, please contact us [email protected] and write Darkness in the Subject line.

Top seller of tickets gives in to Jersey

Ticketmaster to offer more Springsteen seats

Tuesday, February 24, 2009
BY PEGGY McGLONE
Star-Ledger Staff

Ticketmaster, the country's leading ticket retailer, reached a settlement with New Jersey yesterday and will no longer send consumers to a subsidiary where tickets are resold for hundreds of dollars over face value, state Attorney General Anne Milgram announced.

As part of the settlement, Ticketmaster agreed to make 2,000 Bruce Springsteen concert tickets available at their box-office price, through a lottery, to customers who had complained about the way Ticketmaster handled the Feb. 2 sales to Springsteen's May 21 and 23 concerts in the Meadowlands.

Milgram said the settlement also prohibits Ticketmaster from allowing "a handful of brokers" to pre-list tickets for sale on the subsidiary's website before the primary sale.

Milgram said Ticketmaster agreed to apply the settlement to its business practices not just in New Jersey but across the country.

Milgram's announcement came a day before the first of two congressional hearings into the planned merger of Ticketmaster and Live Nation, the country's largest concert promoter and venue operator. The merger, announced the week after the Springsteen ticket fiasco, has met with criticism from lawmakers and entertainment industry officials.

Ticketmaster admitted no wrongdoing in the settlement, which also requires it to pay $350,000 to New Jersey to cover investigative and attorney fees.

Milgram's office began investigating Ticketmaster after hundreds of fans complained the ticket agency was sending them to its subsidiary, TicketsNow, even though regular-priced tickets were still available.

"The settlement is national in scope and it changes fundamentally Ticketmaster's business practices," Milgram said at a news conference at the Izod Center in East Rutherford, where Springsteen will perform.

In a statement released afterward, Ticketmaster said its "activities have at all times complied with all relevant laws and regulations." It also said it had voluntarily implemented most of the terms of the agreement in the days after the Springsteen ticket sale.

Among the new revelations from Milgram's office was a special advertising deal Ticketmaster had with Google in which consumers who searched for Ticketmaster were referred instead to TicketsNow, where tickets are sold at scalpers' prices. She said Ticketmaster has agreed to end the Google arrangement.

Fans who don't win the chance to purchase a pair of tickets in the lottery will be given $100 Ticketmaster gift certificates and the ability to purchase tickets for an upcoming Springsteen concert in New Jersey, Milgram said.

Holding a copy of a page of the Ticketmaster website that showed the TicketsNow link, Milgram said consumers complained they were steered to the resale marketplace without being told what was happening.

"Nowhere did it say (TicketsNow) was a secondary market site. Nowhere did it make it clear to consumer that tickets were still available at face value, and nowhere did it indicate to consumers that they were leaving the Ticketmaster site," she said.

When asked whether she believes brokers had an advantage over regular buyers, Milgram replied only: "On Feb. 2 at 9 a.m. I believe tickets on the (TicketsNow) site should not have been there. This is unacceptable."

She added her office will continue to monitor the ticket service.

The deal signed yesterday creates a wall between Ticketmaster and TicketsNow for at least one year. At the end of the year, Milgram said, Ticketmaster will need her approval for any links or changes to the site's architecture or wording.

"We are not going to allow anything that is misleading to consumers," she said.

Ticketmaster came under fire Feb. 2, the day tickets went on sale for the first leg of Springsteen's "Working on a Dream" tour. Consumers made complaints to the state Division of Consumer Affairs about irregularities with the sale.

After Springsteen also criticized the ticket service, Ticketmaster apologized and said it would complete transactions that were interrupted on its website, and refund money to those fans who unknowingly completed their purchases through TicketsNow.

Milgram thanked Springsteen and his manager, Jon Landau, yesterday for their assistance in the settlement. "They worked with us because they care deeply about their fans," she said.

Rep. Bill Pascrell (D-8th Dist.), who requested a federal investigation into the sale, called the settlement a victory for the average person.

"I appreciate Ticketmaster's concessions but will not be distracted in any way from aggressively pursuing a long-term, comprehensive resolution to the unjust ticketing process," said Pascrell, who will testify Thursday at a House anti-trust hearing.

Fans applauded yesterday's developments.

"I'm really surprised. I figured they had done their thing, said they were sorry," said Terry Healy of Summit, a longtime Springsteen fan who was one of the thousands to contact the state. "I'm so glad I complained. Even if I'm not lucky enough to get the tickets, it's a success."

Michael Tress of Ridgefield was suspicious of the Ticketmaster position even as he was happy to hear of the restitution.

"It sounds like Alex Rodriguez's denial, when you're admitting guilt without saying you did anything," he said. "A lot of time you think these things amount to nothing but some complaining and whining. This time it did amount to something."

Springsteen's publicist directed all questions to the attorney general.

The ticket lottery is for consumers who filed formal complaints with the state by Feb. 17 at 5 p.m. The extra tickets were made available by the sports authority, the state agency that operates the arena, from the pool of seats reserved for the promoter, artist, venue and sponsors.

Van Zandt on Max Weinberg’s Busy Dance Card

...

Last week NBC’s website confirmed that drummer/bandleader Max Weinberg is definitely coming to Los Angeles when Conan O’Brien takes over The Tonight Show. So what does that mean for Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band’s tour, which kicks off a European leg two days before Conan’s June 1st Tonight Show premiere? “We’re still figuring that out,” says E Street guitarist Steve Van Zandt. “We’ll see. I think Max will be there for most of it. I just got home from Europe, so I haven’t even talked to Max to see what the latest news is. I know he was very much trying to figure it out.”

When Max himself spoke to Rolling Stone earlier this year he described NBC’s extreme patience over his frequent absences, hitting the road with the increasingly busy Springsteen. “It’s a hell of a problem to have in this economy,” he said, explaining that a well known NBC sitcom star’s attorney asked why Weinberg was allowed sabbaticals when his client couldn’t take one to film a movie. “The NBC lawyer thought for a second, then said, ‘The next time Bruce Springsteen asks your client to play drums, she can do that.’ In the legal department it’s known as the Weinberg-Springsteen Rule.”

Whether or not the Weinberg-Springsteen rule applies to the first few weeks of The Tonight Show, however, is up in the air. “Max will be fine until the beginning of the show on June 2nd,” says Van Zandt. “After that, we’ll see. I’m sure Max will be there for most, if not all of the tour. He’s as dedicated as it gets. I used to have to fly home every day off and film The Sopranos. He may have to do something like that. Conan, it must be said, has been tremendous. Once that second banana [former sidekick Andy Richter] split, I started to get concerned. I was like ‘Uh-oh. Now Max is not only the music director, he’s also the second banana.’ That’s a huge role to play.”

Is the band thinking about a possible temporary replacement? “No names have come up yet,” says Van Zandt. “I don’t know if it’s quite at that stage.” The E Street Band hasn’t played a show without Weinberg since he joined in 1974. “It’s hard for me to picture a show without Max, honestly,” says Van Zandt. “It really won’t be the E Street Band. I guess various members will come and go as we go through these last few years together. If there’s a few shows where he’s not there, I’m sure it will be fine. Most of the time he’s gotta be there though. There’s no drummer that could replace Max. There might be someone temporary that comes in and we’ll have to adjust the show accordingly. What nobody understands is that not only is Max a great drummer, Max reads Bruce’s mind. You can’t learn that. That’s impossible to learn. You could spend months rehearsing and you’ll never get that.”

Well,it was also just announced that Andy Richter is coming back to the show. Technically as an announcer. But it might also take some of the pressure of off Max as far being the second bananna.
